Vintage 0901 – Week XXIII – The busted belt edition
by Taavi Kuisma on Sep.23, 2009, under Headlines
Hi Y’all,
Wednesday is looking great, sunny and promising. Yet another prosperous week is almost half done as is the month of September. Fortunately the weather is still looking amazingly good. It’s been a while since last time I was in Finland during the Autumn, but if my memory serves me right, it’s normally much colder and definitely rains much more than now. Well, one need not complain when things are looking good. So I won’t.
I was supposed to post an update on the 0901 project only next week. But alas the wear has finally got to my trusted old (with current fashion cycles one year is old, haha) RMC belt and the “belt loop” was snapped open. Well this inspired me to closely examine the jeans and to much of my awe I realized the jeans keep developing new lines and instead of remaining stagnant after six months of wear, tear and washes still keep evolving every day.
Starting off with the back and front shots of the jeans. You can see that the color of the jeans has not changes all that much since my last post, but this is due to the fact that they have not been washed since. They’ll probably meet the washing machine at the end of the month as at the moment I tend to wash the jeans once a month. Which is in my opinion a good cycle (although some denim heads would frown at such comment, haha).
The knees of the jeans have stretched a bit over time, and thus the jeans are no longer in their starched and straight form as in the beginning.
The back pockets have lightened a lot in the past month and the right back pocket where I keep my travel card has started to develop some slight lining according to the card’s shape. The seat of the jeans is showing more and more signs of wear as well.
I guess the below pic could be titled, seat whiskers, heh.
The front side shows new lines above the knees. These lines have formed from the creases around that area of the jeans’ legs. Similar to the lines in the back of the jeans’ legs where the denim stacks and forms creases through wear.
That followed by the back of the legs showing wears as result of creasing.
I seldom cuff my jeans anymore as after the initial soaking and first wash the jeans lost few inches in length and fit great for my legs. But as I don’t cuff my jeans anymore, the “heels” of the jeans are getting more worn.
Finally another shot of my trusted belt. I guess I have no choice but to get it fixed by a tailor or cobbler or whom ever is best suited to fix the belt, haha. Lucky the belt is otherwise in a good shape, although I think I might consider switching the buckle.

That’s all for now, but as said, the month is coming to an end and we’ve got a plenty planned for next month. So keep your eyes open and stay tuned for more. Live long and prosper…
