Kicks Edition – Air Jordans

by on May.30, 2010, under Headlines, Kicks

Late night, Saturday night. I must be getting old because the night used to start at the midnight, but for me it’s bedtime. But hey, I do want to wake up to watch Batman tomorrow morning, not just that but I have a breakfast to cook for the wifey and just so many things to do I just don’t want to miss out on. I’m a bit late with my writing, since I just spend the last few hours watching Seven Years in Tibet, a movie I had not watched until now and I really liked it. Good stuff.

But not to get side tracked here. It’s finals time in the NBA and the Lakers are battling Suns tonight for the rule of the Western Conference. Celtics already took the Eastern Conference championship and will face Lakers or Suns in the finals. Being a Lakers fan I have no doubt that this year will commemorate yet another “classic” Lakers vs. Celtics battle. Lakers ruled supreme last season but I still have bitter memories of the Celtics – Lakers battle back in 2008 when Lakers was beaten by the Boston team. I will be writing more about the finals  assuming Lakers gets there, but since we’re living interesting times (NBA-wise) I thought of celebrating it with a kicks edition focusing on new Air Jordan releases.

You know the Air Jordans right? The line of shoes sold under Jordan endorsed by Mr. Michael Jordan himself. A line of kicks that is almost as big as the “man behind” the kicks. More and more Jordans come out every year although Mr. Jordan himself has retired from NBA long time ago. The shoes have come a long way since it’s first release back in 1985. The shoes have been endorsed with sports superstars and celebrities like Spike Lee and it has become a collector favorite.

But enough history, let’s get back to business. Before showing my favorite picks of the week, a little preview to the upcoming Fall 2010 Air Jordan lines courtesy of Freshness Magazine. Now I’m only showing the collective picture of the new kicks, for more details and bigger pictures you can check our Freshness Magazine. All I have to say is that there are some killer kicks coming up this fall.

No to my favorites. First off, Air Jordan IX “Premio” gold leaf kicks. The lavish golden shoes that feature luxury details from leather soles to gold leaf suede, bright gold soles and gold details on the logo and lacing eyelets.

But since it is a premium edition of kicks it comes with a cream colored bag and shoe horn in addition to the basics. The white and gold have a luxurious contrast and since it is a limited edition release, it’s a sure thing it will be sought after by collectors and fetching high prices on eBay. Very nice. Flashy, but very nice.

Now if you feel like toning down from the gold, you can lay your eyes on the second pick of the week. Also representing the  Jordan IX series, this retro shoe that goes under moniker Un-Powder after its powder blue color has a very, very fresh colorway with bright blue and white patent leather. I don’t know what’s the deal with blue shoes but I really have a liking to blue kicks, bright blue especially.

I realize I’m checking out more and more Jordan IX kicks with more focus than before. It could very well be that I will opt for this line of shoes for my next b-ball kicks. But with fresh kicks like these I’m sure I would not dare to introduce the shoes to the street courts. But hey, that’s what you got another pair for.

So, are you into Air Jordans? If yes, what’s you favorite style?

Take it easy everyone, hope tomorrow is full of sunshine I’m off to catch some shuteye. Cheers!
