Sports Edition – Paul and LeBron

What’s good folks?
Last night’s match sure wasn’t. It was like Germany was under a spell. This got me thinking, could it be that Paul the almighty Octopus had a psychic control over the German team. Is it that his powers are like those of a Jedi? Just a little background on Paul, “Paul the octopus, who lives at the Sea Life Aquarium in western Germany, makes his prediction by picking food from containers marked with the flags of the two teams.Paul’s only inaccurate pick so far was when it picked Germany over Spain at the Euro in 2008. Spain won 1-0 in that tournament, but he has never been wrong since and has an overall record of 9-1.” (Reuters)

So what do you think, did Germany lose because of Paul or what happened? Comment, give us a shout on the Soap Box, your preference. I seriously think Paul was behind last night’s result. With all due respect Spain didn’t play all that well either. So it must be the octopus. Word “Octopus” was also trending earlier today on Twitter. It’s easy to blame a sea critter.
Another probably even bigger thing making the sports fans talk is the decisions and future of certain LeBron James. The star of Cleveland Cavaliers is announcing his big decision about his future team and his legacy for that matter in an hour’s prime time special on ESPN. Now a one hour special for such a thing might seem like an unnecessary media tricks, but seriously the man is worth his weight in gold and even more no matter where he plays.

Way back I was already talking with someone about his next stop possibly being the New York Knicks. Not sure where the conversation got started but Knickerbockers somehow seemed to be a team LeBron could raise to another level enabling New York to battle for the top spot in the NBA. Now this was way back but since then you have had folks talking about LeBron arriving in New York for an interview, meeting people in the same place as where the Knicks train and wearing a NY New Era cap. Although these things just add oil to the fire it doesn’t help that the likes of Diddy Tweet something like this on Twitter:

Diddy this say that it was just a joke, but Twitter is seriously buzzing over LeBron. Some have cited that LeBron would be staying in Cleveland but this is definitely uncertain. Just take a look what his teammate Jamario Moon said “I’m just going to be watching the TV Thursday night like the rest of you guys. I hope (he returns). I want to know. I’m tired of my palms sweating.” (Chicago Tribune)

Chicago has also been eyeing the star to join their forces jsut like LA Clippers, which has been named as one of the candidates. LeBron wants to win, that’s for sure. He wants the title which he might not be able to gain in Cleveland, and Chicago and Clippers seem a bit uncertain as well.
This brings us to the latest rumor that James plans to join the Miami Heat. I find that this rumor actually has some base since Miami seems to be building something with the team’s hero Dwayne Wade re-signing his contract with the team and Toronto’s All-Star Chris Bosh also joining Pat Riley’s Heat stating that he’ll be joining the Finals MVP in South Beach.
Now this choice would seem to have all elements of success. Could it be that Miami is building a Dynasty here? Are they going to be taking on Lakers and Boston next season in the battle for the NBA trophy? All we can do is sit back and wait for LeBron’s announcement and in the meanwhile check out the rumors on Twitter and the news.
So where do you think LeBron is heading to? Or is he staying in Cleveland? Just like with Paul’s case, let us know and let’s discuss these ah-so-important sports events.
I’m out for now, be easy everyone! Peace…
