Timepiece

“Making Timepices is my destiny” states a message at Tokyo FM’s site. In celebration of Tokyo FM’s 40th anniversary they requested the help of Takashi Murakami in order to design a special commemorative watch for the occasion. Takashi Murakami x G-Shock “Frogman” watch is a limited edition timepiece with only 300 pieces available worldwide. Would you expect anything less coming from a product with Mr. Murakami’s name on it?

The product has the standard shock- and water-proof functions of a G-Shock watch a newly designed stainless steel frame with a bright lid LCD display and pink shell with Murakami’s signature on the wrist and a special stamp on the back of the watch. It’s not a bad looking diving watch with it’s pink casing, display box and flowery pillow in the box. The watch also has a moderate pricing with a price tag of only 310 000 Yen. It could be much more too.

The watch is designed to take on harsh conditions and I would love to see someone put this pink watch through the test of elements. Although I am sure it will be the collectors who acquire this watch and it will seldom leave it’s box. Still, nicely done Mr. Murakami, you got the world talking once again. And I guess it’s just a start let’s see what other timepieces he has in mind…
