Marty McFly – Auto-lace Nikes
by Taavi Kuisma on Aug.26, 2010, under Headlines, Kicks
We all (at least most of us) still remember the Nikes Marty McFly had in Back to the Future 2. You know, the ones with automatic lacing? Futuristic take on sneakers that go well with your hover board.

Well, the good folks at Nike have a patent pending for real life Marty McFly sneakers with yes, the auto-lace function. This invention doesn’t require bulky lacing system we have seen done before. But instead has a system that according to the official documents, “provides a set of straps that can be automatically opened and closed to switch between a loosened and tightened position of the upper. The article further includes an automatic ankle cinching system that is configured to automatically adjust an ankle portion of the upper.” (www.wipo.int)

This is straight out of Sci-Fi flicks, but you know it’s just crazy enough to work! Only thing that I’m slightly I’m sure if and when this shoe actually becomes available, they will sell out faster than Air Yeezys. I’m just saying there are a lot of folks who have been waiting to have these shoes ever since they saw them on the big screen back in 1985. So the hover boards and auto-lace Nikes appeared in the movie in the year 2015, so could this be the year we actually see these kicks? I guess, we’ll just have to wait and see. What do you think? Is this a marketing trick or a revolutionary invention by Nike?
