Old Spice – The Saga continues

by on Aug.03, 2010, under Headlines, Social Media & Advertising

So We’ve seen the campaign, heard the results, and shared these ads without friends and family (not to mention colleagues). The campaign did increase the Old Spice sales by what was it 107 %? And the statistics speak for themselves. Probably the campaign of the decade and now it’s over, or is it? What else could you possibly do with this crazy ad campaign to create even more buzz?

Well, there was one guy who actually asked Isaiah Mustafa (aka the Old Spice Guy) if he could record him a voicemail message. And behold, now each and everyone of us can have a voice mail by Mr. Old Spice himself. I have one already and I’m sure some of you will get one as well. I mean hot damn, this is something else. Just pick the message style you want, include your number and download the voice mail to your computer.

I was just telling a friend that Out of Office messages are always too static, boring and even ignorable. So why don’t we spice things up a bit? Are we so afraid of the corporate executives (and other people) whom are reading our emails? Is it such a sin to tell them a little story instead of just telling everyone that I’m out of office until xxth of August so please text me or contact what’s his or her face. I dare you to include a more creative message next time you’re going out of office. You could for instance be “building an orphanage with their barehands while playing a sweet, sweet lulluby for those children with two mallets against their abs xylophone.”

That’s all folk, I’m off to train Gong Fu in the 36 temples of Shaolin. You see, it’s much more interesting already. Actually I’m off just to continue my work but hey, who knows I could be training Gong Fu, Shaolin Shadowboxing or anything else other than working because it would be much more fun, now would it? Peace.
