They called him Machete

So we’ve just recovered from the overdose of badass awesomeness they call Expendables and now we’re getting ready to another action packed joyride which they call Machete. We posted the trailer while back and as the premiere is getting closer, you start to see more and more Machete related postings around the web. Just today I cam across a nice set of videos and pics at Hypebeast that focus on artworks of David Choe for the feature film. Small documentary-like video that tells a story about the creative process and shows another side of Danny Trejo, we seldom see in the movies. I think I have never seen him in a non-badass role.
The artwork is pretty much based on Danny’s somewhat legendary appearance as well as inspiration from the movie and the impressive number of knives we can see in the flick.

I really liked the other art piece with the movie’s characters all in one.

Another video brings us back to Danny’s old neighborhood. Very nice down to earth type of feature. The video also has Danny talking about the movie’s background.

I like the artwork and can’t wait for the movie. It’s cool to see that the decision makers in Hollywood have finally woken up to the reality that people want to see over the top action films they used to make back in the 80′s. I mean thee movies are something we grew up watching and had this certain crazy flow to them. Old movies like Predator, Commando and Rambo just to name few are among the movies that you can just watch over and over again.
Expendables was an awesome start and I am sure Machete will follow not far behind with regards to the level of badassness. So are you a fan of these types of art movies or do you prefer something else on Friday’s trip to your local cinema? Peace!
