Hybrids

I love the fact that even the concept cars are getting “environmental” with more and more hybrid concepts by the auto houses. The latest one that caught my attention is Audi with their Audi E-Tron Spyder concept.

The convertible car features a small body (4.06 meters long, 1.81 meters wide and 1.11 meters high) powered by twin-turbo V6 TDI at the rear axle and two electric motors producing a total of 64 kW at the front axle. The plug-in hybrid drive is a nice touch, I mean I’m more and more convinced that the next set of wheels I buy is hybrid. It’s also cool that the idea of an electric car is no longer limited to ugly boxes with design sacrificed for the environmental ideology. Seems that folks at Audi have also thought about the smart phone integration, which is definitely a nice touch.

I think we will see more and more concepts based on the power of electricity instead of the almighty Diesel engines and horse powers draining gasoline like water. Of course we’re still far away from the situation where most cars were powered by electricity rather than gasoline but it’s good to see that the manufacturers are taking initiative, at least on the concept level.

You can read more specs and check more pictures of the wheels from Freshnessmag and since we’re on the topic of wheels I thought the freshly released video for Rick Ross’ Aston Martin Music would fit nicely to the post. Enjoy the video and drive safe. Peace.
