Takashi Murakami – Gagosian Gallery Exhibition

Takashi Murakami, whose Chateau de Versailles exhibition still gets people talking, is embarking on a new journey on the exhibition front, this time with Gagosian Gallery of Rome. The Exhibition will not only feature number of the artist’s works, but also a brand new pieces that measure in whopping 18 meters each. The new “epic paintings” titled Dragon in Clouds – Red Mutation and Dragon in Clouds – Indigo Blue are as the name indicates inspired by the symbol of good fortune and optimism, the dragon. According to the artist himself, “the combination of red and blue with a creature that has long been thought as a symbol of one’s destiny is my attempt to reaffirm my devotion to art – the creative process for the paintings resembled a prayer offering.” The classic Murakami Superflat style combined with classic Japanese art sounds like a winner to me. The exhibition will run from November 13th 2010 until January 15th 2011. Needless to say I look forward to seeing how the paintings turn out and we’ll keep you posted as new details emerge.
