Few weeks ago we introduced the Spikes Brown Denim from Railcar Fine Goods. Back then I promised an introduction to the brand and being a man of my word, here you go.
Railcar Fine Goods is a Los Angeles based brand/company that operates from a small workshop in LA producing all of its own goods. Railcar doesn’t use any side contractors but do everything from cutting, sewing and stitching by themselves. Railcar Fine Goods is still relatively new brand having been established last November, but it’s already making big moves and is sold in several nice stores in Los Angeles and San Francisco region.

Steven Dang, the founder of Railcar collects old industrial sewing machines which are used for the production of the goods. According to Steven “Railcar only uses the highest quality fabrics such as Japanese and American fabrics.” I mentioned the Kaihara denim used with the Spikes Brown Jeans and Kaihara just happens to be one of the best known mils in the world for high quality Japanese Denim.

At Railcar it’s all about the denim making process and of course the end result which highlights the attention to details and skillful construction of the garments. The team behind the jeans is not one of those big budget conglomerates, but rather a handful of dedicated individuals who run a small detailed operation, making fine jeans and garments.

The name Railcar hails from Steven’s background as a mechanic and electronics technician. He has worked with classic and modern cars, motorcycles and Los Angeles Metro subway system to name few things since he was 15 years old. The name Railcar thus just came out of his head at work one day and used it for the brand name. Steven adds that “as for the “workwear” theme of the clothing, it just comes out naturally in the garments as I don’t believe I am a fashion designer.”

Honest clothing made by real people, fits well to our ideology as well. Having seen the jeans first hand I can vouch for the craftsmanship of the garments and it won’t be long until you can see some of the Railcal Fine Goods at Nordic Denim House as well.
That’s all for now but this is not the last you will hear about Railcar Fine Goods. If you have any inquiries about the brand, feel free to contact us for further details.
