Chilling with my son

by on Nov.27, 2011, under Editorial

It’s been a busy month. New projects, brands and contracts. Just to name few components from the equation. It has not been an easy year, that’s for sure. We expanded our Momotaro Jeans representation to South-East Asia and with that myself, Maxwell and Jeci Chao moved to Malaysia. Needless to say such change required drastic changes in terms of our processes. It’s now been almost a year and I couldn’t be happier with the current arrangement and effort from our team in Finland in managing the day to day operations while I have focused on building the “big picture”. We’ve found a balance I’m terms of roles and delegation of duties and having had another great year, it’s safe to say we’re doing something right.

The learning curve is about to get steeper with the introduction of Northern Denim Co.. We introduced the brand few weeks back and the reception has been awesome. I am not only happy but also inspired by the positive feedback and support from people across the world. I have a feeling Northern Denim Co. is here to stay, just need to get the ground work done right. I just gave Japan green light to start production of the first batch and as soon a I muster the energy to start writing invoices, I will start sending order confirmations to everyone.

But life’s more than just business. It’s easy to forget that sometimes when you’re working round the clock on the things you do. Family comes first. That’s pretty much the summary of my code of conduct. I’m fortunate to have such support from my family and feel blessed to have even my son involved in bits and pieces of the denim journey. But when your family serves as your biggest source of inspiration, everything kind of just works out. Even the most hectic schedules.

I’ll write another editorial towards the end of the end of the year. But now I’m just enjoying a day off, chilling with “Super Maxwell” at a local Starbucks while Jeci Chao’s gone shopping. All it took was a cup of porridge 2 minutes and Maxwell’s asleep. Good time for daddy to blog, respond emails and just chill. A pretty damn good day just chilling with my son…

    My reaction: “Awwww….” ^^

Just chilling out is the best way to spend your spare time. Go out with family or friends and grab a coffee at Starmaxwells – oops, Starbucks, that is!
