Ode to Naïvety

by on Jan.14, 2012, under Editorial, Headlines

Today I asked my mother what I was like as a baby/toddler. Now, this was very interesting to hear:

- You were an easy child.
- How ’bout in grocery stores?
- You behaved, yes.
- That’s not what I recall…
- Oh yeah, you did scream and crawl on the floor when you didn’t get candy! I had already forgotten. :D
- I hadn’t… I remember the time when you disappeared and I was so scared. :(
- You used to run around the store and hide behind clothes when we went looking for you!
- Hahahhahaha!!

Batmanning

by on Nov.26, 2011, under Culture, Headlines, Kicks

Planking may be fun, but I know what’s even more fun. Batmanning. It’s like planking but taking it a step higher. Literally.

I tried batmanning one autumny day, my sister as photographer. I know, I didn’t do it the right way, but I was so frightened of falling head-first that I decided to do it the safer way! I think that batmanning is more of a guys’ thing, because you’re supposed to hang from your feet. That’s impossible for me! I don’t have that big feet, my shoe size is 5.5 (European size 38.5, American 8). Another example where some activities are designed for men… Sex discrimination! Just kidding, this is supposed to be fun, nothing serious. :D

Halloween feat. Ava & Frank

by on Nov.03, 2011, under Culture, Headlines

My mother looks at me awe-struck and clasps her hands on her mouth, “Oh my god, my daughter is a WITCH!” Yes, indeed, I am. To celebrate All Hallow’s Evening.

Last Friday there was a Halloween costume contest in my high school, but knowing the Finns… Only couple of dozens dressed up. Well, better chances to win 100, 50 or 20 euros, they will announce the three best this week. I had a minimal budget so I bought a hat – that my bigsister chose, cheers dudette -, scissored a black garbage bag, did my hair and voilà! Not forgetting the horrible make-up, see for yourself…

My Mittens

by on Sep.17, 2011, under Accessories & Luggage, Fashion and style, Headlines

I respect quality a great deal and I try to take this aspect into consideration in all of my clothes shoppings. As I’ve heard, the poor cannot afford to buy cheap, and I have realized it is quite true. I’m a poor poor student who wears out her clothes at a reasonably quick pace. I have to find something, which looks good and whose quality matches its price, preferably not too expensive either. That’s a challenge.

What’s Hot?

by on Sep.06, 2011, under Entertainment, Fashion and style, Headlines

Okay, let’s see what’s hot in women’s fashion trends. Leggings, jeggings and treggings and tunics. A-lined jackets. Brave prints. Retro, somewhat. Sexy, classy and classic style. Figure-flattering clothes. Skirts and dresses. Harem pants.

Use your imagination – Sorry, what?

by on Aug.16, 2011, under Editorial, Headlines

In the old days children managed with wooden cars, ragdolls and a cardboard box which they turned into a pirate ship. The household appliances were very simple, you had to wash your dishes and clothes by hand and chop wood for the fireplace to keep the cottage warm in the winter. Now kids’ toys are walking and talking and games have cyber spatial dimensions and complex story lines. Everything is designed to be easy-to-use and practical. This leaves a little room to think and act in a completely different way.

Comptine d’un Autre Été

by on Aug.14, 2011, under Editorial, Entertainment, Headlines

I happened to find a beautiful piece of music by Yann Tiersen, animated by Aidan Gibbons. It’s called Comptine d’un autre été: l’après midi which translates to “Rhyme of another summer: afternoon”. I fell in love with it… I don’t know why, but I cried when I listened to it. It didn’t raise memories of any kind, it was just the music. Listening to the wonderful sound of my favorite instrument that I have played for ten years and hearing it play a melancholic melody immediately resonated in my heart. It stroke a chord in me, a minor toned chord. I hope you like it, too.
