Royal Oak

A classic timepiece from the luxury brand Audemars Piguet. The watch not only symbolizes one’s achievement in life, but also class on a whole another level. What also separates the line of watches is the peculiar face. The watch features dials with a tapisserie pattern on them, a weaving pattern that forms the square and lozenge motif that captures the light and accentuates the timepiece’s “geometric relief.” (Hodinkee).

Globe-Trotter – Making of a Suitcase
by Taavi Kuisma on Jan.07, 2012, under Accessories & Luggage, Headlines
Way too often we appreciate goods for their functionality, beauty or for the sub-conscious factors like the symbolic value of the goods without thinking about the time and effort that goes into making that particular product. Globe-Trotter is a world-renowned luggage producer that has kept up the artisan mentality in producing their suitcases and other leather goods since 1897. Their recently launched video showcases just what goes into making a Globe-Trotter suitcase.
Messenger Bag

The older you get the more you start to appreciate the intangible Christmas things such as time spent with the family. This Christmas was special as it’s been over almost a year we last stepped in Finland. It was good time with the entire family together. Christmas or any holiday for that matter is so much more than the presents. But the presents do count as well. Even the presents given this year were special to say the least. The theme was definitely vintage goods in form of watches, jewelry and a bag. This edition is dedicated to that bag a present from my family.

Louis Vuitton is known for not only their luxury goods but lavish art pieces as well. In celebration of the company’s 100 years of small leather good collection, the brand teamed up with Chameleon Visual and artist Billie Achilleos in creation of number of small leather good animals. Really fascinating project and clever art pieces to say the least.

Video and more pictures after the jump.

Vintage Watches
by Taavi Kuisma on Dec.22, 2011, under Accessories & Luggage, Headlines
As hinted in my previous Wear and Tear update, I recently got my hands on a new time piece. A vintage time piece for that matter. This particular Omega wrist watch actually belonged to my grandfather, whom passed away earlier this year. The watch dates back to 1975. The nearly flawless watch did suffer a minor accident years ago as a result the glass had to be changed. Lucky the jeweler was able to source the same piece. What’s special about the watch is that it’s actually winding watch, that is it runs on clock work and does not have a battery. I just wind the watch every morning. Really great and accurate watch.
Wood Frames

I love my sunglasses. When you’re living in a country like Malaysia stunner shades are pretty much your daily essentials, not that they should not be elsewhere in the world as well. Just bare in mind as Larry David put it, “only two types of people wear sunglasses inside a house. Blind people and assholes.” Unless of course it’s very bright indoors. But what’s cooler than your average acetate or metal frames? Try wood.

Lytro
by Tuomas Jaalinoja on Oct.25, 2011, under Accessories & Luggage, Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets
Lytro’s the first thing that effectively changes photography for the first time since when there were the big-ass boxes on tripods and Jesse James and a cavalcade of others starred in a variety of shots all headlined “WANTED”.
My Mittens

I respect quality a great deal and I try to take this aspect into consideration in all of my clothes shoppings. As I’ve heard, the poor cannot afford to buy cheap, and I have realized it is quite true. I’m a poor poor student who wears out her clothes at a reasonably quick pace. I have to find something, which looks good and whose quality matches its price, preferably not too expensive either. That’s a challenge.
Denim, denim, denim

It’s cool to bump into things like denim earrings, swimsuits and bracelets. Nail polish and eyeshadow, too.
These I’d definitely wear:

Zafirro Iridium
by Tuomas Jaalinoja on Jun.23, 2011, under Accessories & Luggage, Headlines
Because I’m worth it. F**k yes I am, I just can’t afford it! Afford what? A $100,000 razor. Yes, a $100,000 razor. Why? A few snippets from Zafirro’s website explains it all:
The razor handle centerpiece is 99.95% pure iridium, the strongest and densest functional metal on the planet, mainly derived from meteorites, and 10 times more rare than platinum. One of the primary uses of iridium has been rocket engine components…
