Kicks fit for a Street Fighter
by Taavi Kuisma on Sep.09, 2010, under Headlines, Kicks, Toys, Games and Gadgets
I really love the initiative companies like Nike take to produce variety of collaborations with seemingly no limits in creativity. From Iron Man sneakers to Aston Martin Kobes and now Street Fighter pack with Nike SB Dunk Quickstrikes inspired by two classic Street Fighter characters Ryu and Chun Li. Hi tops assuming the look of Ryu’s white martial arts outfit and low top sneakers featuring blue and gold color from Chun Li’s outfit.
Marty McFly – Auto-lace Nikes
by Taavi Kuisma on Aug.26, 2010, under Headlines, Kicks
We all (at least most of us) still remember the Nikes Marty McFly had in Back to the Future 2. You know, the ones with automatic lacing? Futuristic take on sneakers that go well with your hover board.

Kicktionary for iPhone
by Taavi Kuisma on Aug.26, 2010, under Headlines, Kicks, Toys, Games and Gadgets
I’m an iPhone addict. Nothing new there. So of course iPhone/iPad related news catch my attention. Inari Mobile Technologies LLC has produced an application targeted to sneaker heads. The application is basically, “a collection of images and information about the things we love: Sneakers. The Kicktionary will be updated on a regular basis to include as many kicks as possible.” (iTunes Store)
Hybrid Sneaker

So what do you make out of this. A group of creative young minds got together during the Nike’s World Basketball Festival and combined elements of three giants Nike, Jordan and Converse. Now I do know the brands pretty much all live under same roof but still, it’s pretty cool idea. Although it is not much more than a show piece but still a nice example of young creativity.
FEIT Shoes
by Taavi Kuisma on Aug.24, 2010, under Headlines, Kicks
First and foremost, shout out to Tim for today’s (first) Kicks Edition. He sent me a link on a pretty interesting project called FEIT. The shoe brand established by Tull Price the shoe maker has been quietly building up focusing on the truest essence of what makes a good pair of shoes. By combining their love for shoes, high quality materials, hand made quality and just thinking outside the box, they have created a quiet storm in form of very limited edition shoes.
Kicks Edition – Doraemon
by Taavi Kuisma on Aug.23, 2010, under Headlines, Kicks
Doraemon was never a big thing in Finland, 99% of the population at my neck of the woods still probably have no idea who the character is although he is one of the biggest anime characters of all time. Known around the globe for his antics especially his magic pocket, flying skills, gadgets and teleporting door. Oh yeah, if you are not familiar with this beloved character it’s time to get to know Doraemon. Personally I had heard of the character already i nthe past but only got really acquainted with Doraemon back in Malaysia where he is a big deal among the kids.
Japan Blue Adventure Boots
by Taavi Kuisma on Aug.19, 2010, under Headlines, Kicks
As mentioned Japan Blue is an experimental brand that wants to come up with new concepts and produce products that can be universally appreciated and adopted into folks’ everyday life. One of the most interesting things I have seen from the brand has been the Hand Dyed Indigo Adventure Boots or Adventure Blue Boots as they are also referred to.
Adidas – Street Art
by Taavi Kuisma on Aug.17, 2010, under Comics and Artwork, Headlines, Kicks
Adidas is one of the brands that has kept its street credibility throughout the years. I mean even if you go back 20 years, the Run DMC was already rapping about My Adidas. The brand has retained the originality and been an integral part of the street-wear culture. No matter whether it’s Hip Hop or sports Adidas is there. Even I’m wearing a pair almost on daily basis.
Product Red – Converse Chuck Taylors
by Taavi Kuisma on Aug.17, 2010, under Headlines, Kicks
I thought of kick-starting today wit ha little sneaker edition dedicated to a pretty fly pair of Converse Chuck Taylors. I saw this Converse(RED) product which was done in collaboration with artist Cody Hudson. The full leather shoe with the RED color and blue toe shell. I really like the shoe just like I like most of the all leather Chucks. However the red color adds a good edge to the shoe differentiating it from the rest of the similar kicks around.
Global trends and Buttershoes

Came across a cool article on Complex Mag yesterday. As part of their Style and Design issue, Complex is introducing new style frontiers on global scale. That is they’re looking into what’s happening around the globe. I like that. Act local, think global or better yet act and think global. Yesterday they released an edition on Hong Kong for which they teamed up with Tony Magnetic, the man behind The Year Of… brand and so much more. Click the picture for the Top Ten Hong Kong Experiences. Something to check up next time you’re heading East. You can also find similar article about Seoul and another one on Hong Kong by Kevin Poon of CLOT.
