What’s the #KobeSystem and what can it do to you? I guess it’s not just what can the system do for you but where do you go once you’ve already reached “the beyond” As Nike put it, “Where do you go from the top? You go over the top. The #KobeSystem: Success for the Successful is Kobe’s winning, results-oriented philosophy on how to adapt to succeed. You’re Welcome.”

The #KobeSystem follows an impressive line of Nike ads that just embody the WTF effect. I mean we had Robert Rodriguez and Kobe Bryant doing a movie about the Black Mamba, and now we have the #KobeSystem that is helping the ones like Richard BRanson, Kanye West, Jerry Rice and Serena Williams to go beyond the top.

The almost brainwashing style and certain thematics of the ads have even gotten people linking the ads to the Illuminati and such. Hmm… Not sure about that but I can safely say that the #KobeSystem has gotten people talking.

Basketball never stops

It’s been a rather quiet season in the NBA. The NBA lockdown is still rampant and it seems we won’t be seeing 2011-2012 season. Could they even have an all-star game or something? Although we’re not seeing NBA action, basketball is not stopping as Nike puts it in their latest campaign featuring Keving Durant. In the latest video from Nike Basketball, Kevin Durant takes to the Oklahoma City streets to show that Basketball Never Stops for any of us.

Makes me feel like going out and shoot some hoops. Damn…

Batmanning

Planking may be fun, but I know what’s even more fun. Batmanning. It’s like planking but taking it a step higher. Literally.

I tried batmanning one autumny day, my sister as photographer. I know, I didn’t do it the right way, but I was so frightened of falling head-first that I decided to do it the safer way! I think that batmanning is more of a guys’ thing, because you’re supposed to hang from your feet. That’s impossible for me! I don’t have that big feet, my shoe size is 5.5 (European size 38.5, American 8). Another example where some activities are designed for men… Sex discrimination! Just kidding, this is supposed to be fun, nothing serious.

Just guess which one is me…

Attention women, hanging upside down means free push-ups. Woo!

Oh, and I realized something interesting. The toy industry has copied my hair for troll dolls… Damn you troll dolls! *huff and puff*

Our friends at KIKS TYO have put together a little video teasing us of what’s to come from the brand in the Spring and Summer 2012 season. New Sneaker & Girl tees are not the only thing coming up, the good folks at KIKS TYO have also put together a KIKS GIRL DVD which will be available through KIKS TYO next spring (2012). The photography is by KIKS TYO’s founder HOBBY:TECH and just to add to the teasers, the style is slightly different from the last few seasons from KIKS TYO. For now we have a little teaser video and plenty more to come. All I can say is that the S&S 2012 collection is looking hot.

The last day of Nike Mag 2011 auction. You still have a chance to cop a pair of these instant classics. The prices have settled a bit since the first day of auction and you can now get yours for a mere sum of 3000 USD (or even less). Even celebrities like Kanye West and MLB pitcher Brian Wilson (of the San Francisco Giants) have been spotted rocking the shoes. But these people can easily afford the 10k USD shoes. I read that Wilson actually bought two pairs of which one is in use where as other remains in ice.

But what about the story behind the shoe? I shared some of the background before, but there is so much more to this shoe than the movie and web forums can tell. In the below video, the minds behind the shoe tell the story of the Nike Mag 2011 as it should be told. Although the idea was damn cool, I bet even the team could not have imagined how popular the shoe will actually become.

I am sure the shoes just like the movies will continue to inspire people from all fronts. Below just one example of the influence this release has had. A very cool billboard by Brent Rollins for Undefeated.

Marty McFly – Nike Mag

If you want to release one of the most talked of sneakers of all time, you might as well do it with a bang. Nike didn’t let anyone down with their latest activation for the coveted Nike Mag or Air McFly sneaker familiar from Back to the Future 2. The futuristic take on an Air Nike has been a source of speculation for years with Nike’s patent applications and other details adding fuel to the fire. Finally this week a number of hints indicating a release of the classic started to surface. Not only were well known bloggers and sneaker personalities invited to an event where they were first greeted with 80′s style refreshments (candy and Pepsi) as well as BlueRay of the Back to the Future trilogy but also a set of replica shades made famous by Doc Emmet Brown in the movies.

And a recording of the voice of Doc Emmet Brown in an iPod shuffle stating, “If my calculation are correct, for the next 24hrs you are gonna see serious stuff!”. Fast forward and soon enough a video posted by DocEmmetBrown88 wet online setting a seal in the release of the Nike Mag.

This morning the first thing I saw was these sneakers in all of their might with additional details on the launch event for the shoes that featured Tinker Hatfield the designer of the respective shoe. So how does the shoe look like then, check out the pictures below.

This however is not your everyday sneaker release. 1500 pairs will be auctioned with proceedings donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Being that the shoe is coveted by not only the sneaker freaks but also fans of the movie (pretty much all 80′s babies out there). The shoe has already taken eBay by storm with biddings on a single pair of sneakers rising as high as $75,000. That’s 75k for a pair of shoes. This far I have not seen any of the shoes with bidding action fetching less than $3000. So if you are planning to get a pair of these kicks, be prepared to fork out 4 digits at least.

But it is quite a shoe. As if the release needed any actual promotion, Nike has released a cool video in promotion of the Nike Mag. Which you can check out below. The clip answers one of the most asked question about the shoes, “does the shoe power lace?” The answer to which is of course, “no. Not until 2015.”

2000 pairs of sneakers – A guided tour to ShoeZeum

This is just madness. You might think you have an impressive collection of kicks, think again. The ShoeZeum has a sneaker collection unlike I have ever seen before. Better yet, now we can all get an idea of the collections’s massive awesomeness that can barely be described by words. I mean imagine pretty much every significant limited edition sneaker ever released all in one place. I bet there is no sneaker head out there that’s not impressed with the collection.

mastermind Japan x Timberland

Now this makes an interesting collaboration. mastermind Japan has teamed up with iconic boot maker Timberland for one of a kind collaboration 6″ boots. I am surprised they did not choose the black color for the boots knowing mastermind usually sticks with the signature black. I’m actually happy they chose the wheat color. All of my Timbs are in this color and I have feeling the future ones will be as well. No details on the price of the collaboration just yet but you can look for this around S/S 2012. If you are interested it’s best to note that this collaboration obviously comes in very limited numbers.
