Stratos
by Taavi Kuisma on Oct.15, 2012, under Culture, Headlines, Sports
It’s a new week. Time to accomplish new feats, reach new goals and live the life. It’s a short life and we’re reminded of that on daily basis, so it’s best you go out there and get the most of the few moments we’ve granted on this earth. Just have fun with life, don’t stress and learn to enjoy the ups and downs. What better way to start a new week than by seeing a guy jump from the edge of space and break the sound barrier, amazing. Kudos Felix Baumgartner and Red Bull…
Game On, World

I believe the world just needs more fun and games. Nike seems to think the same way and decided to gamify the world through Nike+. Pretty awesome ad. Well played Nike. No pun intended.

Pepsi MAX teamed up with NBA rookie of the year Kyrie Irving for a pick-up game in Bloomfield, NJ. Just that Kyrie did not play as himself but as “Uncle Drew”. Awesome stuff. Well done Pepsi.
Skateboarding Japanese Style
by Tim on Mar.14, 2012, under Entertainment, Headlines, Sports
Folks, if you have been following this blog for some time already you know that I like skateboarding a lot. In the past I have posted a skateboard video here and there ( mostly on the good old and no longer existing soapbox and Taavi has put it up on the blog here). Today, my browsing has let me to another skate video, it is actually a series of 3 vids, in Japan. These guys take skateboarding to another level and I really love their tricks. Grab a beer tonight and check out these videos. This is an order!!;-)
Volkswagen Game Day
by Taavi Kuisma on Jan.20, 2012, under Entertainment, Headlines, Sports
Another epic battle is brewing between two opposing forces. A battle like no other. Only weapons, brute strength and the oval pigskin. Superbowl is one of the biggest avenues not just in terms of sports but also advertising. Volkswagen made an impact with their ad last year and they seem to carry the Epic Battle theme to this year as well. I mean just have a look at their teaser. Canine chorus anyone?
Let’s see what they have in store for the Game Day.

The sinking feeling
by Taavi Kuisma on Dec.04, 2011, under Headlines, Social Media & Advertising, Sports
The sinking feeling. The moment when you realize you just screwed up and now need to put your game face on in a matter of seconds to amend the situation. Familiar circumstances to anyone with sports background but most likely familiar to pretty much anyone as we all tend to screw up something every now and then. Nike visualized this feeling pretty well in their latest Air Jordan ad. Although the video is obviously about the flight, I paid more attention to the sinking feeling. Cool ad nonetheless.
Milano Kalibro Kobe

I’m sure you all remember the short film Black Mamba directed by Robert Rodriguez and starring Kobe Bryant. Well Kobe is back in action (although the NBA season has not kicked off yet) and stars in Milano Kalibro Kobe. A film that I really hope gets more airtime than just the trailer posted online.
According to Highsnobiety, the film aslo features “athletes from Nike crew including Marco Belinelli, Claudio Marchisio, Marco Materazzi, Gennaro Gattuso, Gianpaolo Pazzini and Alberto Aquilani.”
Freedom on the board

Although I am not a real big fan of longboarding this video made me change my mind. I stumbled across this piece of quality entertainment and gave it a chance and so should you! Watch it since the vibe, the tricks, the music, the speed are fantastic.

Football Cops
by Taavi Kuisma on Jun.28, 2011, under Headlines, Social Media & Advertising, Sports
Every now and then some creative agencies come up with such a ludicrous idea that someone will definitely produce it for the entire world to share. One of such ideas is DIRECTV’s Football Cops. I mean what they portray as a trailer for an upcoming action drama featuring Eli and Peyton Manning as a crime fighting cops who use most unconventional ways to catch the bad guys. I mean this is on some other level of insanity. Check out the trailer for the “upcoming series” below.
