Another epic battle is brewing between two opposing forces. A battle like no other. Only weapons, brute strength and the oval pigskin. Superbowl is one of the biggest avenues not just in terms of sports but also advertising. Volkswagen made an impact with their ad last year and they seem to carry the Epic Battle theme to this year as well. I mean just have a look at their teaser. Canine chorus anyone?

Let’s see what they have in store for the Game Day.

The sinking feeling

The sinking feeling. The moment when you realize you just screwed up and now need to put your game face on in a matter of seconds to amend the situation. Familiar circumstances to anyone with sports background but most likely familiar to pretty much anyone as we all tend to screw up something every now and then. Nike visualized this feeling pretty well in their latest Air Jordan ad. Although the video is obviously about the flight, I paid more attention to the sinking feeling. Cool ad nonetheless.

Milano Kalibro Kobe

I’m sure you all remember the short film Black Mamba directed by Robert Rodriguez and starring Kobe Bryant. Well Kobe is back in action (although the NBA season has not kicked off yet) and stars in Milano Kalibro Kobe. A film that I really hope gets more airtime than just the trailer posted online.

According to Highsnobiety, the film aslo features “athletes from Nike crew including Marco Belinelli, Claudio Marchisio, Marco Materazzi, Gennaro Gattuso, Gianpaolo Pazzini and Alberto Aquilani.”

This could be good. Kind of reminds me of Italian Spiderman.

Although I am not a real big fan of longboarding this video made me change my mind. I stumbled across this piece of quality entertainment and gave it a chance and so should you! Watch it since the vibe, the tricks, the music, the speed are fantastic.

Football Cops

Every now and then some creative agencies come up with such a ludicrous idea that someone will definitely produce it for the entire world to share. One of such ideas is DIRECTV’s Football Cops. I mean what they portray as a trailer for an upcoming action drama featuring Eli and Peyton Manning as a crime fighting cops who use most unconventional ways to catch the bad guys. I mean this is on some other level of insanity. Check out the trailer for the “upcoming series” below.

Pretty inspiring ad from Adidas following up on their latest All In campaign. THe ad clip features Derrick Rose of Chicago Bulls who just became NBA’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the season. The ad plays on the notion of question(s), “why can’t I be the best player in the league? Why can’t I be the MVP?” Well D. Rose got his answer becoming the youngest MVP in the NBA history. Dedicate yourself to the game you play and never look back. Awesome stuff.

I find it rather hilarious that a viral video of a 12-year old with impressive American Football trick shot skills has gotten folks all defensive. I mean people just hate to see people being good at something, especially kids. It could be that the tricks on the below video are just an elaborate scheme, but even if the video is a sum of repeated routines it does not erase the fact that this kid has skills when it comes to football. Don’t forget he’s only 12 years old.

Kobe Bryant is The Black Mamba

The time has come, All-Star Weekend is here and so is the premiere of the Black Mamba, a film by Robert Rodriguez. The last two trailers have promised a lot with stellar cast of Kobe Bryant, Bruce Willis, Danny Trejo and Kanye West this film should be one of the biggest Nike ads in history. Along the past few days Nike has released pics and teasers of the film which is now live. Watch the film after the jump!

Transformers 3 Super Bowl Spot

Ah, Michael Bay. You brilliant man exploding all kinds of things. I’m sure your merits do not end there, but let’s stick with the explosions: they be awesome. But what is this now? Megan Fox is gone? Replaced by some luscious-lipped underwear model called Rosie Huntington-Whiteley?

Like we’d mind.

The film’s second trailer’s full of explosions too. As well as Optimus Prime slicing through pretty much everything in his way. Awesome.

Also, nothing to do with Transformers, but rather… Well, see for yourself. Won’t be disappointed.

NBA x Marvel All-Stars

While back NBA and Marvel joined forces for some pretty epic NBA styled Marvel cover art. Now these two names have joined forces again for some exclusive Marvel styled NBA apparel. Now in most cases these types of shirts would not look too cool. But don’t let the idea fool you. The shirts and caps produced for this collaboration are pretty damn cool.

Just mix Marvel superheroes with your favorite NBA team and you get the point. What’s cool about the shirts is that they have adjusted the looks of the Marvel characters to match the teams. For instance take a look at (krhm) Lakers shirt with Iron Man and the gang wearing Purple and Gold to match the Laker look.

They have also adjusted some tees to match the team’s and character’s styles. I mean Spider Man is a New Yorker so having him representing Knicks in a shirt is given. At the same time the Hulk’s green look fits perfect with the Boston Celtics’ clover green appearance. I’m a Lakers fan but still this one’s probably my favorite tee among all of these. It does remind me of Space Jam movie from back in the day though.

In celebration of the upcoming NBA All Star game, the two brands have put together an All Star cap as well. I guess you could call this one a triple collaboration as it’s produced by the cap giant New Era.

Collaborations are always cool, especially when done well. These items make a nice alternative to the standard Jerseys you wear to the games. I have a feeling this won’t be the last collaboration between NBA and Marvel, so we’ll just have to wait and see what else they will cook up.
