It looks like season 4 of the cult cartoon The Boondocks is just behind the corner. Pretty awesome surprise. Not just for myself but all the Boondocks fans out there. Let’s see which characters we’ll see returning this time around. Perhaps Thugnificent makes a comeback. From rags to bitches. Back to rags and then back to bitches or should it be riches? Let’s wait and see.

Crowd Sourced Denim / Jeans

We all have our dream jeans / denim. We have our preferred fit, denim fabric, hardware, stitching color, leather patch and pocket lining. Denim enthusiasts try number of labels, brands and types of jeans to find the ideal pair that will go through the Wear and Tear. Some even voice out their preference to the brands. But has your dream pair of jeans been made already? That’s the question that came to my mind and that spiraled an idea of a crowd sourced pair of jeans. A pair of jeans you (yes you, our dear reader) design. A pair of jeans designed by the fans, enthusiasts or denim appreciators altogether. I think it would be an awesome if not ultimate denim project. So what do you say, shall we create the ultimate pair of jeans. We have lots of friends whom can help produce this ultimate pair a collaborative pair of jeans you can help design and then get for yourself.

We would be open voting for the:

- Denim
- Fit/Cut
- Hardware
- Stitching color
- Pocket lining fabric
- Back pocket design
- Flasher design
- Number produced (depends on the response and how many people would like this project to see daylight)

We would definitely need to set some borders but naturally we would offer as many alternatives as possible.

So what say you, should we start a new Denim Project? We shall call the project “Lot… You decide it” I think it would be first of its kind. Designed Online, Made in Japan, Worn Worldwide.

We’ve been very focused on our denim game with the introduction of Northern Denim Co., work with Railcar Fine Goods and Strike Gold. So much so that we have not put the same emphasis on our T-shirts. Last 6 months have been crazy and mostly in a good way, but it’s about time we stepped our T-shirt game up. We’ve got a batch of crazy new KIKS TYO tees. I will be adding the tees to our Online Store soon and naturally post more details of the tees but until now, I just compiled a quick teaser pic with the fresh tees. Stay tuned for more!

Sad day in hip hop history. MCA of the Beastie Boys passed away after long battle with cancer. Beastie Boys has had a major impact in the entire hip hop culture and as with passing of every legend, his music lives on. Rest In Peace Adam “MCA” Yauch.

Vintage timepieces – Elge Pocket Watch

I’ve picked up a new hobby in vintage and timepieces of which I shared my Tissot and Omega watches already some time back. But what would any collection (even a small one) be without a pocket watch.Yet, a pocket watch. Timepiece that preceded the now popular wrist watch. The practicality of wrist watch slowly but surely lead to reduction of pocket watches in the market. Bargue would argue that a good pocket watch still has that style value unmatched by modern watches. Or at least most of them. Especially when it comes to wearing a three piece suit.

My pocket watch is branded Elge and is actually older than any other watch I own. I am not sure how old or don’t even know much about the watch or brand, but one. Ting I knowit’s that it works likea brand new watch. I somehow thought that the watch was manual, but it’s actually automatic and keeps perfect time. I wonder how to go about servicing this antique watch though. But that I only need to worry once thewatch stops. If you know anything about the brand or the watch, feel free to drop me a line or comment, would be interesting to know more about it.

Batman – The Dark Knight Rises Trailer 3

Now that we’ve seen the Avengers it’s time to start the countdown for the new Batman adventure, The Dark Knight Rises. Batman seems to have his hands full and his technology stolen with Bane not only forcing him out from retirement but also pushing the caped crusader to his limits. It’s nice that they are only revealing the tip of the iceberg in the trailer thus only getting people more psyched for the film. Check out the new trailer below.

Patterned by Nature

In our hectic lives centered around our urban living environments we often miss out on the complex beauty of the nature surrounding us. I think all of us need to take a chill pill sooner or later and one of the best ways to unwind is to get in touch with mother earth herself. In celebration of natural beauty, North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences commissioned “Patterned by Nature”, an exhibition that celebrates “our abstraction of nature’s infinite complexity into patterns through the scientific process, and through our perceptions. It brings to light the similarity of patterns in our universe, across all scales of space and time.”

The presentation made of 3600 tiles of LCD glass extends 10 feet wide and 90 feet in length and runs on approximately 75 watts which is actually less power than a laptop computer. The animations are created by independently varying the transparency of each piece of glass. (Sosolimited) Really impressive.
