Grandpa

by on Nov.25, 2011, under Headlines, Social Media & Advertising

In case the magical power of Old Spice ads is not enough to convince you to try out the products, their on-products messaging is pretty much as awesome as their ads. It was yesterday when I incidentally ended up in a local Cold Storage store and while finding what I was supposed to buy, I ended up on the Old Spice shelf, not having observed the Old Spice deodorant, after shave or any other products aside from the soap/body wash I have at home, I was curious to find out more about the products and especially the communication on the products. All it took was one stick of deodorant and I nearly bought it. In capital letters it says:

“If your grandfather hadn’t worn it, you wouldn’t exist.”

Exactly. Another example of Old Spice’s awesome powers. Exactly why this is my choice of soap as well. As Old Spice put it, “the scents of Old Spice turn embarrassingly normal guys into face model champions who smell like adventure and fine cutlery. So douse your body regions with the scents of Old Spice and “Smell Better Than Yourself.”" Needless to say more…

Stella Artois 9 steps

by on Oct.16, 2011, under Entertainment, Headlines, Social Media & Advertising, Travel, Food & Drinks

Being that it is the month of OCtober, which to some indicates the joyous time for Oktoberfest, that annual celebration of our favorite beverage, the beer. Times like these it is not surprising that beer brands are pushing their products most just tying together with the German tradition, but others pursue their beer promotion in a slightly different manner. Stella Artois is one of these brands. Whether you like the beer or not, you have to agree that their latest online ad is pretty dope. The creative minds behind the video obviously took the WTF approach when they scripted the Stella Artois 9 steps. You know it’s a cool video when you watch the entire 4,5 minutes “without blinking”. Check the video below, take notes and perhaps you’ll pick up something. If not, at least you’ll still be entertained…

How to run a company?

by on Oct.07, 2011, under Entertainment, Headlines, Kicks, Social Media & Advertising

Lengthy lessons aside, this is how you run a company like Kenny Powers. For anyone who hasn’t seen the K-Swiss campaign piece featuring Kenny Powers as the company’s new CEO, you need to see this. So “before you say anything, be prepared to shut the f**k up”. Friday night folks!

World Gone Sour

by on Oct.05, 2011, under Entertainment, Headlines, Social Media & Advertising, Travel, Food & Drinks

Man, on days like these you just want to sit back, relax, watch a good movie and maybe clear a bag of candy. Candy like Sour Patch Kids. I have to admit I have not come across ads for Sour Patch Kids before, maybe because the candy is not that big (or not available) in Finland. However, today I came across a particular video by none other than Method Man promoting the brand and the on-going World Gone Sour campaign. I can’t even hate, and those feeling like hating, don’t. Method Man is doing his thing, even when rhyming about candy. You be the judge but this ad got me checking the rest of the stuff the brand has been doing and it’s not all that bad.

Momotaro Jeans collaboration vending machine with Pepsi Cola

by on Sep.11, 2011, under Fashion and style, Headlines, Social Media & Advertising

You might have seen the Momotaro Jeans tram (or was it a bus) and all sorts of promotional material from pics to videos but this one’s pretty new. Momotaro Jeans vending machine collaboration with Pepsi Cola. The thing I paid most attention with was the pics of jeans covering the vending machine. I’m pretty sure I recognize some of the jeans. Nonetheless just to say interesting approach, but if you happen to be in the right place at a right time, you could buy your soft drink from a Momotaro Jeans vending machine.

Drifting on a helipad

by on Jul.01, 2011, under Headlines, Social Media & Advertising, Wheels

Sometimes you see ads that just leave you wondering, what the hell just happened? One such ad is the one for the BMW 1 Series M Coupé in which the vehicle takes on the world’s highest helipad. Having seen Maybach doing donuts on a parking lot I thought I had seen it all, but this one tops even that. I highly recommend watching this ad because it’s pretty damn awesome. I mean a car drifting on a helipad? Who would have thought? I just wonder how was the idea’s presentation? The creatives just sitting there telling the client, “so we were thinking of having the car drifting on a helipad, the world’s tallest helipad…” and the client just approving that. Who wouldn’t?

Mercedes-Benz – Concept A-Class

by on Jun.05, 2011, under Headlines, Social Media & Advertising, Wheels

When I saw the intro text I thought to myself that this could be interesting. Mercedes-Benz campaign with visuals by Terry Richardson. Richardson has a pretty impressive background in photography and a creative approach I really admire. So when you combine his style, Mercedes concept car and model Jessica Stam, the end result should be interesting. However, this one does not quite deliver as one might expect.
