The #KobeSystem
by Taavi Kuisma on Jan.14, 2012, under Headlines, Kicks, Social Media & Advertising
What’s the #KobeSystem and what can it do to you? I guess it’s not just what can the system do for you but where do you go once you’ve already reached “the beyond” As Nike put it, “Where do you go from the top? You go over the top. The #KobeSystem: Success for the Successful is Kobe’s winning, results-oriented philosophy on how to adapt to succeed. You’re Welcome.”
The sinking feeling

The sinking feeling. The moment when you realize you just screwed up and now need to put your game face on in a matter of seconds to amend the situation. Familiar circumstances to anyone with sports background but most likely familiar to pretty much anyone as we all tend to screw up something every now and then. Nike visualized this feeling pretty well in their latest Air Jordan ad. Although the video is obviously about the flight, I paid more attention to the sinking feeling. Cool ad nonetheless.

Chopping a competing sneaker to prove a point was not enough for Adidas. They decided to chop another Nike kick to make it Crazy Light. This time with a chainsaw…
Crazy Light

It’s always nice to compare features of a product to a competing brand for instance. You can do that in many ways but seldom the comparison is direct and happens in a video ad. Adidas in their promotion of the new 9.8 oz AdiZero Crazy Light blow a direct hit at a very significant competitor. While the short clip does have some wow effect in it, it also raised a question; “are they allowed to do that?” Still the clip is pretty funny and I recommend paying attention to the disclaimers on the bottom, kind of adds insult to the injury.

Video after the jump.

The time has come, All-Star Weekend is here and so is the premiere of the Black Mamba, a film by Robert Rodriguez. The last two trailers have promised a lot with stellar cast of Kobe Bryant, Bruce Willis, Danny Trejo and Kanye West this film should be one of the biggest Nike ads in history. Along the past few days Nike has released pics and teasers of the film which is now live. Watch the film after the jump!
NBA x Marvel All-Stars

While back NBA and Marvel joined forces for some pretty epic NBA styled Marvel cover art. Now these two names have joined forces again for some exclusive Marvel styled NBA apparel. Now in most cases these types of shirts would not look too cool. But don’t let the idea fool you. The shirts and caps produced for this collaboration are pretty damn cool.

We’ve seen trailers of the Black Mamba, a film by Robert Rodriguez. We’ve seen a clip about ophidiophobia but what about the shoe these clips promote? Sneakernews provided an insight into Nike Zoom Kove VI event held at Nike vault at the Staples Center, Los Angeles. The event did not just preview the trailer 2 for the Black Mamba feature film but also introduced a Kobe VI sneakers in different colorways. One of the sweetest styles presented is the Black, White and Varsity Red sneaker with the black and metallic “snake” upper representing the Black Mamba.
Nike Zoom Kobe VI – Ophidiophobia

Fear of snakes or ophidiophobia is a very common fear. I mean even Indiana Jones threaded these squamates. Snakes have a pretty bad reputation and Black Mamba might be one of the most feared individuals among snakes. So does the Ophidiophobia also include fear for Kobe Bryant aka the Black Mamba on the basketball court? I’m pretty sure most of the players have mixed feelings of fear and respect towards the the Black Mamba and he would not gotten the moniker without any reason. The latest Nike Basketball ad/clip looks into this particular fear while promoting the new Kobes.
