by Taavi Kuisma on Jan.31, 2011, under Entertainment, Headlines, Social Media & Advertising, Sports
I’m sure most of you caught the trailer for Robert Rodriguez’ the Black Mamba starring Kobe Bryant, Danny Trejo and Bruce Willis. Well this already somewhat epic Nike Basketball production is just getting crazier. It seems that Mr. Kanye West is also starring in the film playing role of the Boss. As Bruce Willis put it in the trailer, “some take souls, some take scalps, boss takes shoes.” So Kobe must fight not jsut for his soul but also for his Nike Zoom Kobe VI kicks because the Boss wants those shoes.

Nike Zoom Kobe V – Team USA

I did not make a trip to the heart of Kuala Lumpur and come back empty handed. Although the day itself was awesome enough I did bring along an orange box with a pair of sneakers inside.

Nike LeBron 8 V/2 – Lion
by Taavi Kuisma on Jan.14, 2011, under Headlines, Kicks, Social Media & Advertising
LeBron has a lot of weight on his shoulders, folks expecting him to rally Miami to another title. I think LeBron is hungry for a ring of his own as well. But the on-court and media pressures are not slowing him down, especially on the sneaker front. He is after all one of the better players in today’s NBA. Speaking of sneakers, LeBron’s fresh Nike LeBron 8 V/2 sneaker is making its way to the store shelves and in promotion of this, Nike has a little video out there that is sure to catch some buzz. Titled Lion, the clip represents the Lion within the player, or the shoe. Not planning to go through all the semantics of the ad, but found it pretty cool. Thus sharing it with all of you. Speaking of new sneakers, I need to get me mines. Perhaps LeBrons this time?
To dominate another day?

You might remember the first edition of the Jumpan 23 – Jordan Brand’s new Dwayne Wade commercials titled Dominate Another Day. Well there are three new releases featuring Kevin Hart as Specialist H and Dwayne Wade as D3, you know like the sneaker?
Li-Ning – Customs
by Taavi Kuisma on Dec.03, 2010, under Headlines, Kicks, Social Media & Advertising
Customs do their thing and I respect that. Sometimes however it seems that they might be overdoing it. Take for instance the “customs agents, played by Gerry Bednob and Donnell Rawlings, who stop a Li-Ning employee bringing the F2 shoe into America. The agents don’t believe they are actually shoes because of their futuristic design and packaging. Until they test the shoes out – and love them. (liningf2)
He who lives in a glass house

LeBron James and the Nike LeBron VIII kicks have gotten second round of animation from Seth MacFarlane. When we last saw the LeBron VIII the sneaker was busy using Mr. Jameses as kicks, but the latest clip actually shows us the secret to LeBron’s on-court power. I knew it, it’s all in the kicks.
Jordan’s response to LeBron
by Taavi Kuisma on Nov.27, 2010, under Headlines, Social Media & Advertising, Sports
Is Michael Jordan ethering LeBron? Those who have been following the blog closely might remember a post with LeBron’s latest ad “What should I do?”. Well Michael seems to have an answer to Mr. James. This is something straight out of hip hop beef cook book, but still somewhat entertaining. See for yourself.
Do whatever it takes

Jordan brand continues its set of entertaining basketball related ads with another one featuring Carmelo Anthony. The ad has a semi-original approach with Carmelo Anthony taking up the role of pretty much each individual in the ad from players to photographers. “Carmelo Anthony plays multiple roles as he shows the full extent of his versatility in the commercial for the Jordan Melo M7.” (Jumpman23)
