Sorry, been a bit quiet of lately. Our email has not been quiet but hectic times usually translate to more quiet blogosphere. Another reason to my recent quietness (aside from family time) is my new-found inspiration to tackle not only my PhD thesis but also write and publish work revolving around one of my oldest passions, comic books.

TOKIDOKI x MARVEL x NEW ERA

by on Jun.21, 2012, under Accessories & Luggage, Comics, Design and Artwork, Fashion and style

Caps galore… I like quirky collaborations like the the latest cap project between TOKIDOKI from Italy, classic cap brand New Era and comic book gain Marvel. The caps portray classic Marvel superheroes in a light hearted manner in a series of limited edition caps. The heroes include the likes of Avengers and Spider Man. Something to add color to your summer season outfit.

LEGO – The Avengers

by on Mar.30, 2012, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets

These type of pictures have had the same impact on me ever since I was a kid. As excited I am about the upcoming The Avengers film (April 27th, it’s so close!) I’m also quite excited about the upcoming LEGO series based on the film. I mean just look at this picture and tell me you’re not excited about this? Awesomeness in LEGO format.

Avengers toys from LEGO

by on Feb.13, 2012, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets

Definitely the coolest thing I’ve seen today. As if the anticipation for the Avengers movie was not enough. LEGO is bringing us the Avengers line of toys in conjunction with the upcoming blockbuster. Being a huge fan of both Marvel and LEGO, I honestly can’t wait for the launch. Maxwell is almost old enough to play with LEGO anyways. Umm, emphasis on the word almost. Perhaps I could buy some of these toys for “safekeeping.” You can check out more details and pictures at Marvel‘s site.

Avengers

by on Oct.11, 2011, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Entertainment, Headlines

Just had one of those, oh my god, oh my god moments when I realized the trailer for the upcoming Avengers movie hit the web. The trailer looks even better than the sneak preview at the end of Captain America (I know you all knew of the clip already). Seriously summer 2012 is starting to look even better than 2011 when it comes to comic book mega blockbusters. If you don’t believe me, just watch the trailer yourself. I promise you’ll feel like a kid again. Oh my god, oh my god…

Shield Action

by on Jul.15, 2011, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Entertainment, Headlines

There are few weapons as iconic as Captain America’s shield. Well Batman has his batarangs and all sorts of gadgets, Wolverine has his claws but Cap has a shield. A mighty fine shield made of vibranium-iron alloy. A shield that basically absorbs all kinetic impact received and due to its qualities it can also be used as a weapon to ricochet from one surface to another without loss of velocity. Let’s just say it’s more than just a shield. At our neck of the woods we still need to wait two more weeks for the movie but all these clips sure add to the hype. Looking good Marvel!

Captain America TV-Spot

by on Jul.01, 2011, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Entertainment, Headlines

The Trailer for The First Avenger was pretty awesome but the TV spot adds to the excitement. Just the fact that folks seem to find the shield from ice looks really promising as in the movie should follow the comic book storyline, at least the Ultimate one. Less than a month to go, can’t wait!

Captain America – Trailer 2

by on Jun.24, 2011, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Entertainment, Headlines

Can’t believe it’s almost July. What’s so special about July? The release of Captain America: The First Avenger of course. Just to add to the already massive hype around the movie is the latest trailer that shows more footage from the upcoming blockbuster. It’s crazy to even think that it’s been like 4 years since we were speculating on the Captain America the movie and how it should pen. I mean damn, the new trailer gives a pretty good indication of how the movie will be like and I have to say I like it. So make sure to catch the movie which premieres in less than a month.

Captain America Collectible Figure

by on Jun.22, 2011, under Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets

Being that the release of the Captain America: The First Avenger movie is just behind the corner it comes as no surprise that Hot Toys is also gearing up to release a collectible figure based on the Comic Book hero’s movie version. The authentic looks of the 1:6 figure and add ons like the iconic shield and an assault rifle (?) make this one hot toy. Damn, if these action figures were around when I was growing up. Maybe I need to get Maxwell one of the collectible figures, at least once he gets into the age when he learns how to appreciate action figures, he would be the coolest kid on the block (as if he wasn’t already). Nicely done Hot Toys!

Captain America: The First Avenger – Official Trailer

by on Mar.24, 2011, under Entertainment, Headlines

Marvel recently released the official trailer for the Captain America: The First Avenger. We saw the first spot during Super Bowl halftime, now we have the official trailer for the movie. The film looks awesome, I mean as a fan of the comics I could not find anything to complain about the trailer. I seriously can’t wait for the film. So what do you think about the movie version of Steve Rogers?
