Momotaro Jeans – Europe Label – ER007-3B

The denim and of course the jeans are awesome but very limited in availability so get your while they’re still available. We know some of our customers have had the jeans for a while already and hopefully at some point we could post some wear & tear pictures of the designs as well. You can find the measurements from our previous post on the topic.

Starting off with ER007-2B Grand Blue Momotaro Jeans.

This 15 oz Grand Blue heavy weight from Momotaro Jeans has a very deep (as deep as the abyss) blue color which is result of pure indigo warp yarn as well as black weft yarn. The ageless Grand Blue color should fade in a most amazing way considering the jeans don’t have the typical natural cotton weft but black one instead. I said before that the jeans are like a pair of heavy duty khakis and I stick with my words. I got the same feeling as I took another look at the jeans after few months. But let’s not forget that this is still denim, Grand Blue denim for that matter. The ER007-2B design has a tight fit, similar to G007-MB for instance, naturally even the tightest Momotaro Jeans fit remains comfortable. The jeans are raw but will not shrink much as the fabric has been partially sanforized.  The jeans have the Momotaro Jeans signature stitching on the back pocket. The jeans are like no other and should make a nice alternative to your other Vintage Denim.

The other design making its comeback is ER007-3B Melange Denim Momotaro Jeans.

The truly original 13 oz “Melange” gray colored denim from Momotaro Jeans is woven with dyed gray warp yarn and natural cotton weft. The combination creates a fascinating “gray” color called “Moku Gray”-yarn. The sanforized denim fabric is very soft in comparison to other Momotaro Jeans heavy oz denim. Still it’s as one might presume strong enough to go through plenty of wear and tear. The melange denim has a unique look and makes an awesome alternative to indigo or black or brown denim you might already have. At least this here is a collector’s piece as the Melange denim was produced in very limited numbers and only sold in handful of stores in Japan and worldwide.

The high quality selvedge denim woven with vintage denim mills ensure the ultimate Vintage denim experience. As mentioned above, the cut is Tight Fit Straight Leg jeans. Below is a size chart (in centimeters) that gives indication of the fitting of the jeans. Please note that although the chart is titled ER007-3B, this applies to both designs.

The coveted jeans that left many impressed during Terminal-2 have finally made their grand entry in the denim world. The jeans will become available through our Online Store soon but it feels good to finally have an actual pair of these jeans at my hands. And no, samples don’t count. The jeans in the picture will be shipped out soon and we can’t wait to get feedback on the jeans. It will be interesting to see how these jeans wear and fade as they don’t really fade but at the same tome they do. So it should be  good.

We finally got the Momotaro Jeans – Europe Label samples after the jeans traveled from one country to another ever since we last laid our eyes on them in Copenhagen. Nevertheless, now we have them and as promised we took some detailed pictures of the designs that give you an even better idea of what the collection is all about.

Do note that the pictures are intentionally left “huge” to give you a better idea of the details.

So without further due, let’s get this show started. Do note that I’m not short of words with the line, I just let the pictures do the talking.

Original 13 oz Melange (Top Gray) Denim Momotaro Jeans

The painted Japan Blue text.

Coin pocket with hidden selvedge lining.

The buttons are similar to what you see with Vintage Label Momotaro Jeans.

The white contrast stitching looks pretty nice on the gray denim fabric.

Original 15 oz Grand Blue Denim Momotaro Jeans

The grand blue denim made with warp yarn of black and indigo cotton yarn. When you look closely, you can see the black yarn.

The painted Japan Blue text.

The signature stitching on the back pocket is dark blue that matches the fabric.

The white selvedge with red line adds contrast to the grand blue color.

Coin pocket with hidden red selvedge.

The continuous stitching  over the leather patch on the top of the waistline is just one of the details that differs the hand crafted Vintage jeans from the rest.

Original 15 oz Japan Blue Momotaro Jeans

The Japan Blue jeans are similar to Vintage Label in color and style. The fabric however is softer and lighter 15 oz compared to 15.7 oz.

The tab is optional addition. The signature contrast stitching on the back pocket reminds one of the copper label. The way to describe the Japan Blue jeans is that they’re kind of light raw Vintage Label jeans with the Copper Label stitching.

The jeans have a leather patch just like the raw models in the Europe Label.

The hidden selvedge coin pocket.

The painted Japan Blue text and blue pocket fabrics are the features carried by the Europe Label.

The selvedge of choice for the Europe Collection is white with red line.

The chain stitching just like all of the sewing done on Momotaro Jeans is all hand made finished with utmost care.

Original 14 oz Washed Deep Blue Momotaro Jeans

The washed Europe Label jeans have paper patch just like the First Battle Label.

The jeans have an aged look inspired by worn and torn old jeans.

The embossed belt loops have been distressed by hand.

The hidden rivets and pocket lines are distressed and the back pockets have a well faded color.

The whiskers have been manually distressed to add into the worn look and feel.

The jeans don’t just feature washing, but the “smudge” marks as well.

The selvedge is different from the raw lines of the Europe Label with brighter yellowish line.

Blue pocket fabric.

Distressed coin pocket. I have actually seen worn naturally faded jeans that have a coin pocket just like this one.

So here we have it. Hope these pictures give an even better idea of what the Europe Collection is all about. The Japan Made original denim that doesn’t leave anyone cold. Needless to say we’ve been doing plenty of denim comparison this weekend and I really love the fact that although the quality of denim is naturally the same, the denim is totally different from every other label from the brand.

But that does not mean I’m having a break. Theme of the weekend, get as much done in two days as you possibly can and if there’s time, charge some batteries for next week.

In my last post I promised to publish an update on the G003-MB project. Well I’m a man of my word and this week we’ve got a set of detailed pics that show where are we at with the jeans. The Spring season has granted us a day of sunshine and what better way to take pictures than with natural sunlight. No flash required and every little detail on the denim surface will show itself. Kind of like the moonlight showed the true character of the pirates in “Pirates of the Caribbean”. But no zombie pirates here. Just worn blue jeans. Japan Blue that is.

Not even sure where did all of those fine lines come from but more and more surface every week.

The jeans’ front is looking pretty worn. Pretty awesome. I’m happy with the progress this far.

The left pocket is getting some wear too. It took ages before this pocket faded with my previous jeans and this time both of the pockets are pretty much at same stage.

The fading on the back of the jeans is naturally limited to the back of the knees as well as the seat. But just like with the front, more and more fine lies appear each and every week. Probably on daily basis, I just don’t pay attention on these changes every day.

The first sign of twill breaking. Nothing major just what you expect to happen with all the stress these pants go through. I’m actually surprised there are no more twill coming loose.

The left back pocket has gotten most of the impact…

…although the right one is not far behind and is suddenly starting to show signs of wear as well.

The cuffs have gotten the worst of it. I mean all that snow, grime and sand. I’m honestly surprised there’s not much more damage done to the chainstitching or the cuffs altogether. Looking good.

Next up, just a little image taken from the right thigh of the jeans. Why I’m showing the picture is that it perfectly shows the fading from the original indigo to the most faded part of the jeans. Naturally worn jeans. Three months in and I can’t wait to see how these babies look like in 6 months’ time.

Finally the lines on the knees are getting stronger same as every other line developed this far. I also like the picture because it has that blue jeans look to it. I mean natural indigo color gone lighter.

The snow is melting at record pace and soon we can see spots of ground already. Once the snow’s gone and the ground a bit dryer, it is time to introduce the jeans to grass, sand and when the time is right the Finnish lakes.

Today I thought of cutting the chit chat and going straight to business. Heavy oz business. I gave you a sneak preview to the Momotaro Jeans Europe Collection (Europe Label or Euro Line) two days back and today I am letting you in on information on what the Europe Label is all about. One thing is for sure, the quality Momotaro Jeans is known for is present with this label just like with the other lines from the brand.

Introduced for the SS 2010 (estimated launch in July) Europe Label takes a step in expanding the product offering but still maintaining the made by hand without compromise motto of the company. Although the title says Europe Label, it is but a title inspired by the brand’s expansion to the region. The jeans are all made in-house in Kojima, Okayama in Japan. The Europe Label represents the essence of Vintage Denim. The jeans feature Momotaros signature pink inseam stitching as well as qualities such as leather patch, hidden rivets and hidden selvedge lining in the coin pocket. The raw lines also feature painted Japan Blue text inside the waistline (back).

The original (raw) 15 oz Japan Blue Denim from Momotaro Jeans combines the essence of Vintage Label with soft and comfortable denim that uses warp yarn recreating the indigo color gradually changed over time. The jeans are 15 oz denim which makes them slightly lighter than the Vintage Label. The fabric also has a very soft feeling, making them less rigid than the before mentioned Vintage Label jeans. The back pocket features Momotaros signature stitching on the right back pocket just like with the Copper Label Momotaro Jeans.
