A Factory in Brooklyn
by Taavi Kuisma on Jan.06, 2012, under Fashion and style, Headlines
Today’s fabric industry is focused in production of mass produced garments that suit the price conscious, trend following consumers’ demand. Outsourcing of production is the in-thing regardless what’s the industry and this has had a visible effect on many local businesses. A recent video from Style Ledger discusses this economical phenomenon with focus on an American manufacturing and specifically Martin Greenfield factory in Brooklyn. Great video with great look into factory that still maintains old production values and attention to quality. As Greenfield nicely puts it, “quality with intrinsic value will always keep you in business.”

It’s always fascinating to read about the story behind a brand. Especially when talking about brands as iconic as Gucci. According to Rizzoli, it is “an unprecedented publication showcasing Gucci as never before, including thought-provoking essays, commentaries, and authoritative anecdotes along with previously unpublished contemporary and archival photographs.”
Grand Slam

Pretty cool video featuring Korean model, actress and table tennis champion Sooyeon Lee. The combination alone is pretty intriguing, a modeling table tennis champion who just happens to be an actress as well. Mix this combination with high fashion, slow motion and cool direction and you get what the director Matthew Donaldson describes as “a vehicle to show how extraordinarily elegant she is.” (Nowness) The video might slip into the random category but at least it does it with style.

Since last year, there has been an underground buzz about some new type of clothing made by a Fashion designer and a chemist. Together, the pair has created what can simply be called a ‘present, yet futuristic marvel’. The duo has apparently invented the world’s first ever sprayed-on clothing.

Fashion accessories

Fashion accessories, you either love them or hate them. I personally think little bling never hurts, although like everything else in this world, you should accessorize yourself in moderation. One person took the fashion accessorizing to another level by replicating the “iconic” Daft Punk helmet donned by Guy Manuel de Homem-Christo. Apparently the project took 17 months and I’m sure it’s worth every hour of work! Nicely done…
Fashion and Social Media

HI Y’all,
I am a social media addict. There, I said it. I’m addicted to my crackberry (I know iPhone is not a Blackberry), my Facebook and my twitter account and all sorts of forums out there on the web. I mean ever since the first time I got myself an MSN account I was hooked. I get most of my daily news through some sort of social/ digital media. The innovations like Apple’s iPad take leaps forward making online magazine/news/book reading even more mobile and convenient. I know I’m a lost cause but I still appreciate a concrete magazine every now and then, latest magazine I was reading was the Workwear magazine. That opus actually contains plenty of details not all so available online. Or maybe I’m just not searching the information in Japanese. But Have you noticed that magazines and newspapers are becoming increasingly slimmer? The companies are transferring their marketing to different media, often online. When was the last time you read a newspaper?

Hi Y’all,
With enormous amount of spare time this weekend, I have also had plenty of time to think about things. Most of the time this personal brainstorming leads to somewhat delusions of grandness. But more often than not also produces great ideas such as our dear NDH, heh.
