LEGO Life of George
by Taavi Kuisma on Oct.22, 2011, under Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets
It’s amazing how the modern technology combines the interactive applications and tangible products (toys, games etc.). The kids these days can combine a mobile gaming experience with toys such as LEGO to create something unique taking creativity to another level. Of course nay-Sayers and critics keep arguing that kids should not be mixed with gadgets, but I say it’s pretty awesome how the child’s playing experience can be further enhanced with an applciation that reacts to his/her LEGO creation for instance. A good example of such games is LEGO’s Life of George App in which players, “Follow George around the world as he challenges you to a series of fun building tasks. Build as fast as possible, capture your model with your iPhone/iPod camera and get scored on your building skills.” (LEGO) Pretty cool.
Live Angry Birds

Now being that Angry Birds is the biggest Finnish export at the moment, it’s just right that we show some love to these angry birds from Finland. Although the game is not for me, I can appreciate the simple, yet intuitive game mechanics and the fun factor. But what would make this game even more fun? Perhaps making the game live. I love it when creative agencies get “free hands” and a good budget to come up with an event or promotional scheme that just takes things on another level. Saatchi & Saatchi and Rovio (for T-Mobile) came up with a pretty cool concept that combined smart phone gameplay with real life angry birds collapsing structures and blowing up pigs. Whether or not you like the game, it’s worthwhile checking the video below.
Game phones – Sony Playstation Phone
by Taavi Kuisma on Feb.17, 2011, under Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets
I am sure those following what’s happening in the gaming world as well as gadget front have come across the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play(station) phone. A smart phone combined with a slide-in Playstation like controls. We have come a long way since the days of the Nokia N-gage. I think N-gage was one of those things that had the idea but obviously they failed in combining functional gaming and a phone. Since then we’ve come a long way with iPhone’s and Android based phones’ gaming qualities much thanks to the touch screen systems. But Sony’s approach takes the whole idea into another level.

The competition in the mobile gaming department keeps getting tougher. First we get reports of Nintendo’s 3DS and now Sony announces their Next Generation Portable Playstation codenamed NGP. “Specs include a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, 5-inch touchscreen OLED display with 960 x 544 resolution, dual analog sticks (not nubs as on the current generation), 3G, WiFi, GPS, a rear-mounted touchpad, the same accelerometer / gyroscope motion sensing as in the PlayStation Move, an electronic compass, and cameras on both the front and back.” (Engadget).
LEGO Angry Birds

There is no doubt that the greatest export product from Finland (after us) is the Angry Birds. Personally I don’t really get what the game is really all about, but then again I only tried the game once on my iPhone and that was it. I don’t have any other games on my phone for that matter. But many people love these angry, winged fiends and their pig dropping antics. Or whatever they might be called.
Joystick for your iPad
by Taavi Kuisma on Jan.08, 2011, under Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets
Mobile gaming is the thing of the dayand the number of tablets out there get even more people into gaming as the gadgets provide a pretty nice way to kill time. One game genre that has really flourished in the mobile games’ era is the retro arcade games. But the touch screen controls can be somewhat game-affecting, especially if you’re used to playing the games on classic game controllers. Fear not, ThinkGeek has come up with a solution in form of JOYSTCK-IT. An aluminum joystick you just, well… stick on the touch screen for better controls.
Need for Speed Valets
by Taavi Kuisma on Nov.17, 2010, under Headlines, Social Media & Advertising, Toys, Games and Gadgets, Wheels
How to promote a new racing game? Take guys from Entourage, give them roles as valets and write a script to support the concept. Well the order of these things might be a bit different but hey whatever works? Jerry Ferrara and Kevin Dillon throw a bunch of one liners and talk smack about racing, while parking other people’s cars. I found the concept at least smile-worthy so what do you think of the new campaign for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit?
Glasses-free 3D mobile
by Taavi Kuisma on Nov.16, 2010, under Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets
Since I first saw the clips and pics of the Nintendo 3DS I kind of figured more and more gadgets would soon feature a glasses-free 3D display. I just didn’t think we would see 3D display mobiles this soon. Well, Japan’s Softbank has teamed up with Sharp in production of glasses-free 3D Android handset. The phone is launched under Japan’s Softbank network in form of touchscreen 003SH and QWERTY equipped 005SH phones.
Golden Monopoly
by Taavi Kuisma on Oct.18, 2010, under Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets
Sometimes life, especially in the business sense is just like a game of Monopoly. Although getting a “get out of jail free” cards are a bit more difficult to land. But with money everything’s possible right? The game is about making that money and avoiding bankruptcy, just like real life huh? I’m sure, we all know the game but have you heard of a Monopoly game made out of solid gold? I can’t but smile at the symbolic value of the golden game. Getting your hands on the game might be a bit challenging, but hey if you can afford a 5 million pound iPhone, I’m sure golden monopoly can’t be too far away from your reach. This is just like straight out of Notorious BIG song I love the dough, “play Monopoly with real cash me and Biggie.” But playing solid gold Monopoly with real cash is on another level. Take a look at the video and let us know, what do you think of this artisan creation? Chase that paper everyone but don’t forget to be easy. Peace.
Lego meets Nintendo Wii
by Taavi Kuisma on Oct.14, 2010, under Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets
You know it’s awesome that LEGO makes even the normal stuff seem nice. So when LEGO contributes to something nice like Nintendo Wiimote, you know it’s bound to be good. So ditch those plain white (or black) wiimotes and put some color to your game room with the official LEGO Nintendo Wii controllers.
