GT-86 – Hachi Roku Reborn
by Taavi Kuisma on Dec.03, 2011, under Headlines, Wheels
Some time back I wrote about the FT-86 concept or “ToyoBaru” as it was also called. The reborn hachi roku (AE-86 Trueno famous from Initial D) is finally seeing daylight across the globe. I am sure the car will raise mixed feelings in terms of design though I think it’s a pretty awesome looking car. It’s not just the looks but the car packs 197 horsepower engine powered by Subaru’s 2.0 liter boxer engine. Yes, a Subaru engine in Toyota car. AE-86 is a classic and as awesome as it ever was but perhaps GT-86 can step up to become the hachi roku of the 21st century. One thing is for sure, Toyota and any agency working in promotion of this ride better start watching Initial D now.

Hachi-Roku reborn
by Taavi Kuisma on Mar.23, 2011, under Headlines, Wheels
I’ve been looking for a new set of wheels for a minute now. Because the fact is, you can’t really survive in Malaysia without a car. Now we have been checking local brands, those compact city cars and pretty much everything that fits our budget. My pick was initially Toyota Prius, but I guess we’ll have to wait for a while before picking that one. My wife needs a car too so buy one now, and maybe another one next year. We’ll see. Anyway, the search for the new ride got somewhat sidetracked when I found three Toyota AE-86 cars in the local market, at a reasonable price as well. Of course the price is almost the same as a brand new compact city car, but we’re talking about Hachi-Roku, one of the most epic rides ever if you ask me. Initial D anyone?
