LEGO Life of George
by Taavi Kuisma on Oct.22, 2011, under Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets
It’s amazing how the modern technology combines the interactive applications and tangible products (toys, games etc.). The kids these days can combine a mobile gaming experience with toys such as LEGO to create something unique taking creativity to another level. Of course nay-Sayers and critics keep arguing that kids should not be mixed with gadgets, but I say it’s pretty awesome how the child’s playing experience can be further enhanced with an applciation that reacts to his/her LEGO creation for instance. A good example of such games is LEGO’s Life of George App in which players, “Follow George around the world as he challenges you to a series of fun building tasks. Build as fast as possible, capture your model with your iPhone/iPod camera and get scored on your building skills.” (LEGO) Pretty cool.
JackBacks

Being a big fan of gadgets of all sorts as well as artisan goods it’s always nice to come across something combining both aspects. Jackbacks is an interesting startup by woodworker Adam Baumgartner that focuses on customizable handcrafted wooden iPhone backs. The glass replacements come in different wood types ranging from entry level bamboo backs to premium wood backs made of mahogany, cherry, maple and walnut. The covers made for iPhone 4 are pretty cool alternative to the traditional glass back that also has a tendency to break should it land back first on the ground.

by Taavi Kuisma on Jun.07, 2011, under Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets
Apple’s iOS 5 was expected to deliver and based on the keynote presentation from last night/this morning the new OS definitely seems to be stepping up a notch (again).

Dickies Workwear App

I love how the apparel brands are embracing the digital era and making use of variety of approaches to promote their brand. Latest one I came across is Dickies Workwear’s Love Your Work app that in addition to presentation of Dickies’ 2010 AW lineup, also features figureheads of street fashion, photography, music and sport, representing the brand.
LEGO Angry Birds

There is no doubt that the greatest export product from Finland (after us) is the Angry Birds. Personally I don’t really get what the game is really all about, but then again I only tried the game once on my iPhone and that was it. I don’t have any other games on my phone for that matter. But many people love these angry, winged fiends and their pig dropping antics. Or whatever they might be called.
Star Wars – Augmented Reality on an iPhone
by Taavi Kuisma on Nov.05, 2010, under Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets
This is probably the coolest thing I saw the entire day. I love my iPhone and I love Star Wars, so where do these two awesome things meet? In an iPhone take on a classic Star Wars arcade game in which you can take up the Millenium Falcon’s gun turret and blast away some Tie Fighters.
Shinies Put to Good Use

The iCed out iPhones are certainly cool – as they should be, being that icy. If your friends have some too, you can start a band and play on the NYC subway. Like Atomic Tom did after their instruments were stolen. Or someone thought of a great viral marketing gig. Whichever the reason, the guys are still iRocking out. iSalute you!
Iced out iPhone 4
by Taavi Kuisma on Oct.15, 2010, under Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets
It’s not long ago that I published an article about diamond encrusted iPhone 4 and solid gold iPad. Well, the man behind these refined gadgets, Mr. Stuart Hughes is back with another one. This time it’s also an iPhone, although this one goes even further in the bling-scale. We’re talking about probably the world’s most expensive phone valued at £5 million that consists of “bezel handmade from rose with approx 500 individual flawless diamonds which total over 100ct.The rear section is formed using rose gold with the added touch of its rose gold Apple logo and 53 diamonds. The main navigation is made from platinum which holds a single cut 7.4ct pink diamond.” (Stuart Hughes) If you want to further customize the phone there is an option of adding a 8ct single cut flawles diamond to replace the pink one. The box itself is not too bad either. Made of a single block of granite with nubuck top grain leather lining. Then again this type of box is a minimum requirement when we’re talking about a £5 million phone. If you ask me, it should come in a safe. But if money ain’t a thing and your life is all about lemons and honey, millions of money, go get the phone. You can be sure that there will only be one other person in the world with the same phone as only two are produced.
Kicktionary for iPhone
by Taavi Kuisma on Aug.26, 2010, under Headlines, Kicks, Toys, Games and Gadgets
I’m an iPhone addict. Nothing new there. So of course iPhone/iPad related news catch my attention. Inari Mobile Technologies LLC has produced an application targeted to sneaker heads. The application is basically, “a collection of images and information about the things we love: Sneakers. The Kicktionary will be updated on a regular basis to include as many kicks as possible.” (iTunes Store)
SMS Fun
by Taavi Kuisma on Aug.18, 2010, under Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets
Everyone knows I’m an iPhone user, evangelist and pretty much married to this Personal Assistant of mine. That’s why I’ll probably start referring to my iPhone as Pepper Potts. Got it? Tony Stark, Pepper Potts? Oh well, I came across this hilarious clip on Mashable featuring Justin Long aka the Mac guy interviewed by Jimmy Kimmel. Well Mashable was pretty much focused on the speculation on whether or not Justin’s iPhone was Jailbroken (is that the way you refer to jail break iPhone? Sounds very broken) but personally I found the actual SMS story much more interesting, hilarious actually. The clip is pretty long like 7 minutes but got me laughing so naturally I had to share this.
