Avengers
by Taavi Kuisma on Oct.11, 2011, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Entertainment, Headlines
Just had one of those, oh my god, oh my god moments when I realized the trailer for the upcoming Avengers movie hit the web. The trailer looks even better than the sneak preview at the end of Captain America (I know you all knew of the clip already). Seriously summer 2012 is starting to look even better than 2011 when it comes to comic book mega blockbusters. If you don’t believe me, just watch the trailer yourself. I promise you’ll feel like a kid again. Oh my god, oh my god…

Iron Man’s New Car
by Taavi Kuisma on Oct.08, 2011, under Entertainment, Headlines, Wheels
It would seem that Tony Stark aka Iron Man is switching the “Iron Man Audi” to a Honda/Acura concept car which is rumored to be a resurrection of the car maker’s NSX line. Hybrid technology mixed with VTEC V6 engine of between 3.5 to 3.7 litres is supposedly firing up this next generation “super car” from the Japanese auto maker. But more importantly, Iron Man is driving the car.
Siri

I’m not even gonna start on the new iPhone 4S. I was actually one of those who was expecting iPhone 5, although the evidence was very much against it. Well we still have to wait for the 5th generation iPhone for a while longer, but the phone does not look all that bad, which means I will probably opt for one as soon as they release the phone at my neck of the woods. One thing that has gotten as much if not more attention is the AI personal assistant called Siri. The audio controlled PA seems to work on another level from the voice controlled “applications” we’ve seen in the past. Voice control is nothing new, but Siri seems to bring us a step closer to the Sci-fi reality.
Marvel Maniacs

Are you a Marvel Maniac? I know I am. Which is why most of Marvel related news catch my attention. Especially those mixed with fashion news. I’m sure the recent Stussy x Marvel collaboration is still in everyone’s fresh memory, and now FREAK’S STORE from Tokyo is teaming up with the legendary comic book house for a set of exclusive tees limited to 50 pieces each. The cool thing about the collaboration is that it also involves local creative talents such as Yasumasa Yonehara, Yasushi Fujimoto, Yoshikage Kajiwara, DJ MURO and DJ DARUMA. Basically established names in Japan’s creative scene. According to Hypebeast, the shirts come with, “three cans, one sheet of poster, and a comic book.” The price is 9,975 JPY and the shirts are available from FREAK’S STORE Shibuya only. Good look.
If

There are a lot of ifs in all our lives. What if you’d gone to engineering school instead of business school? What if you hadn’t been drunk when you me that girl? What if you hadn’t introduced your sleaze bag friend to your mother? How about what if you had more time on your hands than you knew what to do with? What would you do then?
NBA x Marvel All-Stars
by Taavi Kuisma on Feb.08, 2011, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Fashion and style, Headlines, Sports
While back NBA and Marvel joined forces for some pretty epic NBA styled Marvel cover art. Now these two names have joined forces again for some exclusive Marvel styled NBA apparel. Now in most cases these types of shirts would not look too cool. But don’t let the idea fool you. The shirts and caps produced for this collaboration are pretty damn cool.

What’s a week without some Star Wars or superhero related posting? In this particular post we combine our appreciation of art, pop-culture, Star Wars and superheroes. The art comes in form of a dope photo montage by Ukrainian photographer Danil Polevoy, who has combined historical photographs with beloved characters such as Darth Vader, Yoda, Stormtrooper, Dr. House, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Captain America showing the familiar characters in interesting situations, to say the least.
Iron Man action figure with donuts
by Taavi Kuisma on Nov.06, 2010, under Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets
Collectible figures from movies such as Batman or Iron Man are usually cool already as they are, but it’s the more random figures like the Demon Batman that complete a great collection. Having a 1:6 Iron Man figure from hot toys is cool already, but what about hung-over Tony Stark in his Iron Man attire completed with not karate button but a box of donuts and stunner shades. Yes, a box of donuts.
Nike Iron Man
by Taavi Kuisma on Nov.01, 2010, under Headlines, Kicks
Nike SB Dunk Hi Iron Man kicks rumored to only remain as a concept seem to be getting on the store shelves after all.
Needless to say the Iron Man character by Marvel was the muse for this beautiful pair of kicks. The colorway mixes the Iron Man colorway with a mix of burgundy, red, yellow, and black. The shoes are just full of Iron Man details highlighted by the red and burgundy suede upper and the yellow soles and alternative laces (the kicks come with black and yellow laces). Only thing missing from the kicks is an image of Iron Man himself.
Marvel meets the NBA
by Taavi Kuisma on Oct.30, 2010, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Headlines, Sports
We saw the new Tron variants by Marvel. Artwork that had many comic book purists cringing their teeth in agony. Although some of the titles were on point and pretty damn cool the whole buzz about the titles was more focused on a fear of Disney influence on Marvel. Disney did indeed acquire ownership on this comic book giant and although an idea of Donald Duck meeting Spider-Man even gets me cringing my teeth, I don’t really think this is going to hurt Marvel. Moreover I recently came across a good reason why this new partnership might actually work. You see, Disney also owns ESPN, the beloved sports central. So what’s the catch? How about NBA meeting Marvel in with original Marvel artwork on every team in the NBA?
