Nordic Denim House has officially started co-operation with another denim classic from Japan. Starting from this month (October 2011) NDH is official stockist of Strike Gold Denim and apparel. Our first batch has just reached Finland and majority of the batch will be shipped out across the world as soon as we get the parcel.

Naked & Famous Denim brand continues its number of mega collaborations, this time teaming up with another Japanese denim icon, Oni. Oni which means demon in Japanese is a cult brand with a capital C. Much of the brand is shrouded in mystery to the outsiders and even though the owner of the brand shuns the limelight, the brand has gotten a good reputation among the denim enthusiasts. In this collaboration Naked & Famous uses a rare “super slubby and irregular” denim that won’t leave anyone cold.

I’m sure by now most of you have seen the interview of Masahiro Suwaki, the Vice President of the Japan Blue Group. In his interview, he stated something that tells a lot about the global denim culture and trend as a whole. “It is disappointing, but the population of people who truly understand denim are on the decline in Japan. This I feel is especially true for people who like fashion than the “average” person.” This does not only apply to Japan but it’s a worldwide phenomenon. The classic denim labels feel the pressure to adjust to the global demand and to people asking “why would I spend 300$ on a pair of jeans when I can buy a pair of this brand for half of that price?” It’s a fair question but kin of highlights the issue, where price and style often go before tradition (and in some cases quality). Momotaro Jeans, a brand under Rampuya and Japan Blue Group is no different from any other brand. They have goals to reach and the Momotaro Jeans brand, established in 2006 also needs to reach certain numbers not just in Japan but worldwide.

As promised, I have added the fresh batch of Naked & Famous Denim on the site. Following the Momotaro Jeans x Naked & Famous collaboration, we’ve brought in two classic styles from the Canadian denim label. The Naked & Famous Skinny Guy and Weird Guy cuts provide nice alternatives to those looking for modern cuts combined with high quality Japanese Denim. I am sure these two styles are not the last ones we bring in from the brand, but for the moment we have these babies in selected sizes and numbers. Seems that the Indigo Skinny Guy Broken Twill Selvedge Jeans are the popular ones as we are running low on the jeans even before we got them on the site.
