All day I dream about… Adidas?

Well I wish I had time to lounge around and dream a little dream but unfortunately yours truly has been pushing the boundaries the entire weekend once again. It is now 8.15 pm and I’m writing my blog, which I like and it’s probably the most fun I have had the whole day (aside from breakfast pancakes, those were cool.) But you know what, nobody is telling me to do this, it’s just what I do and I keep my mind in the future. It’s all for a purpose. I love each and every project I take on, with so many things life is just like a huge puzzle you just have to solve. Make most of the time you have at hand and just kick with it.

Speaking of kicks, it’s been way too long before I have posted anything kicks related. Well let’s change this and post the picks of the week which are very Adidas centered this week, thus the title.

I have spoken of space age shoes for few times already and every time I see something that just screams space cowboys and renegades I think about Cowboy Bebop -the anime series. Don’t know why. I’m pretty sure the series didn’t even include any space age kicks… Oh, well…

The latest space collection comes from the direction of Yohji Yamamoto, Adidas and their collaborative Y-3 brand. The AW 2010 collection just screams space age, but not in an offensive way. It could be worse, and I somehow even take a liking to some of the kicks. You be the judge, is the line too much? Or is this what one should be wearing while strolling down the streets?

More futuristic Adidas… The Mastermind Japan collaboration was probably the cooles Adidas collaboration in a minute. Well with that in fresh memory, Adidas has rolled out another sneaker that pays resemblance to (and inspired) the collaboration and is, well more available to the public. The Adidas Originals Hardland is a has some edge to it and although not as cool as the Mastermind sneaker, this one’s a winner too. You can find more pics from Freshnessmag.

Those are the pics of the week. Momotaro project update will come soon, just not today.

I am off to watch a movie and then get some shuteye. Have a great evening, morning or a day where-ever you are. I’m out, peace!

Good day to you and yours!

Another fresh week has kick-started and life’s good. Thanks to the “fresh” (as in cold) weather out there my allergy’s almost gone and I can enjoy my life again. So to all you frowning about the weather I wouldn’t mind if the month ahead was like this. Choy! Touch wood! Well we’ll see.

I’ve been actively watching the World Cup and find this event different to those in the past since this one’s the first World Cup in social media. I mean Twitter, Facebook and everything else only started flourishing after 2006. Well the world cup fever has reached every corner of the world and the sneaker world has reacted. Remember my World Cup edition about fashion brands reacting to the world cup, Martin Ksohoh’s RMC brand is no exception. An interesting collaboration between RMC and apparently FIFA World Cup.

Picture courtesy of RMC Martin Ksohoh.

Not a bad design, not at all. Very limited edition too as per my understanding. Another example from the sneaker world is the the soccer inspired AdiCup collection.

Pictures courtesy of Freshnessmag.

The second pick of the week comes from the same brand. Remember the Star Wars Cantina clip I posted some time back? Well some might have noticed an interesting pair of Adidas Originals x Star Wars kicks in the video that kind of looked like a guy wearing two different sneakers.

Well more pictures and details have surfaced about these kicks and what we see in the video is the new Adidas x Star Wars C-3PO + R2-D2 kicks.

Pictures courtesy of Freshnessmag.

The shoes feature the droids on the tongues with mixture of the droids’ colors gold, white, silver and blue colors on the shoes. Rather conspicuous but definitely not a bad looking design. A sure pick for a Star Wars fan.

Plenty of nice Air Jordans have surfaced recently but I want to keep this as an Adidas edition, next one can focus on Jordas.

We’ll be back with more news, updates and random writings later but now I am off to watch a game between Japan and Cameron. You can follow the progress from our Tweets. Gampateh Japan!

Greetings earthlings!

The NBA finals are tipping off tonight and yours truly is feeling like a kid before Christmas. I would very much like to watch every single game, but then again I think I would not be able to cope with my daily duties if I did. Well, there are always reruns, summaries and results. But that’s not the same, damn it as I write this I am starting to feel like watching the damn finals. I MUST! GO LAKERS!

The duel between Lakers and Celtics has a history long as NBA itself and I was just talking about the battles between Lakers and Celtics of the past. You know, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Jerry West and so on. But today it’s all about Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo and the guys from Celtics and Pau Gasol, Derek Fisher, Ron Artest and of course Kobe Bryant on the Lakers’ side.

I still remember the bitter loss to Celtics back in 2008 but fortunately Lakers’ good game last season made me forget all about the 08 season. This season has passed in a flash and while Lakers have played very, very good B-Ball, Celtics are not far behind. Well both teams are in the finals so, duh.

With the anticipation of the Finals, Nike has been working long hours to make sure Kobe Bryant is looking his best, including his kicks.

On that note KB24 released sneak preview pics of Kobe’s new Finals Kobe V sneakers. Kobe’s going after the gold and the gold trim is representing this. Needless to say the team is motivated to bring home the trophy and the shoes’ gold adds to this motivation.

The battle is about to begin, so who are you rooting for? Lakers or the Celtics? Let me know and let the dishing begin! It’s on like Donkey Kong!

Late night, Saturday night. I must be getting old because the night used to start at the midnight, but for me it’s bedtime. But hey, I do want to wake up to watch Batman tomorrow morning, not just that but I have a breakfast to cook for the wifey and just so many things to do I just don’t want to miss out on. I’m a bit late with my writing, since I just spend the last few hours watching Seven Years in Tibet, a movie I had not watched until now and I really liked it. Good stuff.

But not to get side tracked here. It’s finals time in the NBA and the Lakers are battling Suns tonight for the rule of the Western Conference. Celtics already took the Eastern Conference championship and will face Lakers or Suns in the finals. Being a Lakers fan I have no doubt that this year will commemorate yet another “classic” Lakers vs. Celtics battle. Lakers ruled supreme last season but I still have bitter memories of the Celtics – Lakers battle back in 2008 when Lakers was beaten by the Boston team. I will be writing more about the finals assuming Lakers gets there, but since we’re living interesting times (NBA-wise) I thought of celebrating it with a kicks edition focusing on new Air Jordan releases.

You know the Air Jordans right? The line of shoes sold under Jordan endorsed by Mr. Michael Jordan himself. A line of kicks that is almost as big as the “man behind” the kicks. More and more Jordans come out every year although Mr. Jordan himself has retired from NBA long time ago. The shoes have come a long way since it’s first release back in 1985. The shoes have been endorsed with sports superstars and celebrities like Spike Lee and it has become a collector favorite.

But enough history, let’s get back to business. Before showing my favorite picks of the week, a little preview to the upcoming Fall 2010 Air Jordan lines courtesy of Freshness Magazine. Now I’m only showing the collective picture of the new kicks, for more details and bigger pictures you can check our Freshness Magazine. All I have to say is that there are some killer kicks coming up this fall.

No to my favorites. First off, Air Jordan IX “Premio” gold leaf kicks. The lavish golden shoes that feature luxury details from leather soles to gold leaf suede, bright gold soles and gold details on the logo and lacing eyelets.

But since it is a premium edition of kicks it comes with a cream colored bag and shoe horn in addition to the basics. The white and gold have a luxurious contrast and since it is a limited edition release, it’s a sure thing it will be sought after by collectors and fetching high prices on eBay. Very nice. Flashy, but very nice.

Pictures courtesy of Dunk.

Now if you feel like toning down from the gold, you can lay your eyes on the second pick of the week. Also representing the Jordan IX series, this retro shoe that goes under moniker Un-Powder after its powder blue color has a very, very fresh colorway with bright blue and white patent leather. I don’t know what’s the deal with blue shoes but I really have a liking to blue kicks, bright blue especially.

I realize I’m checking out more and more Jordan IX kicks with more focus than before. It could very well be that I will opt for this line of shoes for my next b-ball kicks. But with fresh kicks like these I’m sure I would not dare to introduce the shoes to the street courts. But hey, that’s what you got another pair for.

So, are you into Air Jordans? If yes, what’s you favorite style?

Take it easy everyone, hope tomorrow is full of sunshine I’m off to catch some shuteye. Cheers!

Good morning world!

Yours truly is back at it like an addict. Not just a denim addict but a sneaker addict who desperately needs to get new kicks but unfortunately has still not been able to cop any. I should get myself something like a basic pair of black Chuck Taylors just to have a pair of new kicks for the summer. I mean damn.

But enough of my personal sneaker despair, I have been avidly checking what’s going on in the shoe biz. This week two fresh sneaker designs stood out like a sore thumb. First of these is Mastermind x Adidas collaboration. For those not familiar with Mastermind, it is a Japanese streetwear brand known for their extremely limited edition high-end apparel that usually fetch a mighty fine price as well. The Japanese brand have collaborated with Adidas Originals on a shoe that features Mastermind’s signature black and white skull and bones look on black leather. The shoe looks dope and is supposed to be available from June 16th onwards. Needless to say more, let the pictures speak for themselves.

Pictures courtesy of HypeBeast.

This could easily be another episode of Superhero kicks, since the second pick of the week does have some superhero inspiration to them.

Yeah, it’s another pair of Air Jordans, but not just any pair it’s a rumored Jordan Ol’ School III Flash. A supposed Dwayne Wade Air Jordan collaboration. There has been talks about Dwayne Wade and Air Jordan and the emergence of these shoes combined with Wade’s nickname given to him by his old teammate Shaquille O’Neal that just happens to be Flash. It’s easy to give in to the rumors and personally I would not be surprised if such collaboration surfaced in the not so distant future. But this shoe is as I see it, just a concept considering the rosters in the NBA are changing faster than the seasons in Finland. Especially if Wade is not staying in Miami. Nevertheless I really love the clean look and the Flash inspired look of the shoe. No matter what happens with Wade, Air Jordan or Miami Heat I would really like to see this shoe become available for the general public.

Have you been checking the NBA playoffs? Lakers is battling Phoenix in the Conference Finals and I would really like to see LA take another trophy home!

Be easy y’all I’m off to shoot some hoops! Peace…

Hi Y’all,

About a year ago I wrote a little post on Superhero Kicks. That one was about Wolverine and Sabertooth Nikes launched around that time. The hype behind X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie helped push the kicks and now as we are getting really close to the new Iron Man movie, there is some interesting buzz about Nike launching a pair of Nike SB Dunk Hi Iron Man kicks.

Pictures courtesy of n-sb.org.

The kicks feature the all so familiar color code of the Iron Man armor with red and black upper and yellow toning on the swoosh and soles. The design has yet to reach the shelves but is rumored to do so shortly.

However this would not be the first pair of Iron Man kicks that never reached the store shelves. A year ago pictures of Iron Man SB Low hit the net and caused some buzz which eventually died out as the shoes never got released. This is how the kicks looked like, and I can say I like.

Perhaps the shoes were just a sneak preview of things to come. The time is perfect for the launch of the shoes. If you’re a die hard Iron Man fan and want to dress up to the occasion once the movie hits the cinemas. You can also check out The Year Of… Iron Man Jeans featuring art work by Simon Birch. The repeat stencil pattern on the jeans is inspired by Simon Birch’s favorite comic book hero, Iron Man.

I’m in a really “comical” mode lately. I guess I’m already hyped up about the Iron Man 2 as well as movies like Kick-Ass and Expendables.

Below is a little clip from the movie inclusive of Iron Man making a nice entrance to the Stark Expo 2010.

Hi Y’all,

First off a reminder of our poll on the blog (on your right). Check out the Momotaro Jeans – Europe Label and let us know what you think. We are still collecting feedback on the line and hope to hear from you.

Now back to kicks. In my pursuit of a great pair of kicks for the summer I have been browsing more kicks than I can even report on the blog. Every now and then however you come across a pair of kicks that draws your attention. Today I dedicate the post to a pair of such kicks.

I present to you, Retro Air Jordan 6 (VI).

Not that this is a preview or first presentation. Some of you might have spotted previews of the design already in January but the shoes still look great. The shoe features white textured leather and black nubuck upper with black and white sprinkle patterned midsole. The shoes has been inspired by the famous cookie brand. It’s not just another retro Air Jordan. It’s a mighty good looking Air Jordan (at least in my opinion).

You still have a chance to win a pair of these particular kicks. Check highsnobiety.com for details.

Just to add, what goes better with some Oreo cookies than some milk and you know we got milk!

Good luck and take care of your kicks and of yourself. One love y’all, I’m out…

Hi Y’all,

I’ve been browsing not just new pair of fresh kicks for the summer (yeah, fresh purple kicks hunt is still on) but also a pair of basketball shoes for the summer’s upcoming pickup games. This edition is thus more focused on the basketball shoes. That said, what I recently came across with sure made me feel nostalgic. A pair of Adidas Kobes.

These were the shoes I wore back in high-school when I was still actively playing basketball. Naturally I did play for many years since then but these were the shoes that “helped” me in my games back in the day. The shoes really fit my feet, probably better than many other shoes since then. The kicks had one major flaw though. The shoelace loops broke after few months of active wear. I remember having had something like 3 pairs in one season. Then again I did break a lot of other shoes as well, so not really blaming the shoes because I liked them. The shoes were designed in collaboration with Audi and the design was inspired by Audi TT. The shoes still look like space shoes but I like them. Now that I found a pair online in my size I’ve been very tempted to get them but then I found these.

Nike Hyperdunk + Zoom Kobe V x Aston Martin pack.

Pictures courtesy of freshnessmag.com.

I saw this video way back and thought it was a pretty nice viral video. At least it got people talking and sending it around. The video also inspired the respective shoes. So if you haven’t checked it yet, you can do so now.

Aston Martin collaborated with Nike and Kobe on a silver and gray shoes with Kobe and Aston Martin logos on the shoe tongue and other video related features like “I told you” and “I got this” slogans on the lacelocks which refers back to what Kobe stated on the video. The rumor is that these are limited to only 500 pairs so I might have tough time copping a pair. Nevertheless the shoes look nice enough for few pickup games.

Another basketball shoe I am fancy is the new Air Jordan IX. The shoe is inspired by Japanese designs and reflects the stardom of Michael Jordan. The shoe is among the best known designs from the AJ series. I think this pair is so fresh that it would fit casual wear just as well as a pickup game.

We’ll see what pair I end up copping but I will be sure to post a little something on that pair once I get them. There’s still plenty of snow that needs to melt before the street season starts so there’s also time to browse around for more shoes that spell F-R-E-S-H. That’s all for now, I’m off to chill from the blog for a minute now just to get back to it like an addict. Peace…

Hi Y’all,

Momotaro Jeans is getting its due attention in the online media and I was happy to see some of Nordic Denim House’s pics at the Sartorially Inclined.

The sneaker world never seizes to amaze me. The world is full of awesome kicks and in a perfect world I would have a pair of sneakers for every situation. The Spring and Summer are approaching faster by the minute and I personally can’t help but to check for new kicks every other day. I got my eyes on a certain pair of Nike Gucci RESNs but I might change my mind after seeing the below kicks. Big Nike High Kobe Bryant “Black Mamba”. The shoes are inspired by Kobe’s favorite movie Kill Bill. The black leather upper and yellow rubber soles with top having blood splatters and the silver swoosh representing Hattori Hanzo sword (I suppose). I also read that the insoles would have Black Mamba’s kill list on it, with a Kobe Bryant twist. Since Lakers beat Celtics for the championship last season, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen are already crossed over, heh. I really like these kicks.

Another set of shoes I am seriously thinking of copping for the summer are the Converse Chuck Taylor Sweatshirt sneakers. With sweatshirt fleece top and the basic Allstar essentials this shoes has an edge to it and it would go very well with a very special pair of Momotaro Jeans coming up this summer (wink, wink).

Next up, something for the ladies. I know Valentine’s day has passed already but if you’re still without a gift and would like to make up for that and if your girl happens to be a sneaker freak, you might want to consider getting her the Nike Women’s Air Force One Premium Valentine’s day kicks. The colorway is true to the theme of the day and the shoes come in a nice box.

And if you really want make your girl happy you can surprise her with a pair of Jimmy Choo sneakers (once they’re available in May). Yes, the time has come that Jimmy Choo does not only mean slippers and heels but the ladies can wear their favorite shoe brand and still represent their inner sneaker freak. With five high top and three low top models mixing materials like patent leather, suede and slim soles these kicks look like a winner. Good to see the brand bringing out something fresh. I mean this is something, I got worried after the H&M collaboration. Wonder if Jimmy himself is still behind the design?

Nevertheless the initial pics look good so you might as well get ready for the release in May. Oh yeah, the price range is from $465 to $595 depending on the style of the shoe. Not too bad, what else would you expect from Jimmy Choo.

That’s all for the new Lunar Year’s first kicks edition. We’re finally getting back on track after the Copenhagen trip. Life’s good so cherish it. Take it easy everyone and those interested of becoming and official stockist of the Momotaro Jeans brand you can check some initial info here and drop an email to info(a)nordicdenimhouse.com for more details.

Hi Y’all,

As you well know, the year of the Tiger is approaching and you can sense the prosperity of the new lunar year. We’ll be celebrating the lunar new year (in style) in Copenhagen, Denmark due to the CPH-Vision/ Terminal-2 fair, which we’ll be attending together with our friends from Momotaro Jeans. But I’m sure it’s going to be an auspicious CNY.

New Lunar Year is a new beginning which should be embraced in dressing yourself in fresh gear. For myself and the fam this means copping new gear for the new year. Of course Chinese New Year is much more than just Ang Paus and new gear. It’s a time of reunion. I will defo talk more about this closer to the CNY, but here’s a little something on the topic.

Nike Sportswear is commemorating the event by launching Cortez Classic inspired by the Year of the Tiger, tiger stripes and all. The details are pretty awesome, sil screened tiger stripes, highlighted horsehair and extra pair of laces by Starks. Oh, and the kicks will be launched as a limited edition (200 pairs) release on the 10th of February with a very nice thematic box. But those more interested of the shoe and not so much of the box, it will also be released with a normal shoe box on the 13th of February.

Nike Asia Pacific has also created the below video in celebration of the launch.

Another brand making moves in the sneaker scene in celebration of CNY is Converse. The brand has launched a series of the year of the tiger designs for the season. Converse has produced a Chinese New Year 2010 collection that features all of the lines under Converse flag. These include: Chuck Taylors, Jack Purcells, classic One Stars and a concealed Weapon. The designs feature plenty of red and gold colors in celebration of this prosperous season. The kicks will be available in the beginning of the new Lunar Year, but only in China. So give a call to your connections there and cop yourself a pair of fresh kicks in celebration of the year of the golden tiger. Pics below.

Finally I drop you a little hint on a future post I will be making on the topic of The Year Of the Tiger. I’m kind of excited about an upcoming expansion of The Year Of… brand. Some of you already know what I’m talking about here but just a teaser now. Will post more on the topic once the time is right.

That’s all for now but rest assured we will be welcoming The Year Of… the Tiger in style. Stay cool everyone but don’t get cold, the spring is on its way. I’m out, peace.
