The LeBrons
by Taavi Kuisma on Jan.19, 2011, under Entertainment, Headlines, Sports
Nike did their thing with a number of great ads featuring LeBron James, one of the most popular ones bein “the LeBrons”. The ads featured LeBron James’ different alter egos such as Kid LeBron, Wise LeBron, Athelete LeBron and Business LeBron. Now this ad concept is made into a animated series featuring the “beloved characters” as well as some support cast. The series will be exclusive to LeBron’s YouTube channels and his website. It will be interesting to see what they cook up with the series, but I’m sure it won’t hurt. What do you think about the concept? In case you got an opinion let us know.
Nike LeBron 8 V/2 – Lion

LeBron has a lot of weight on his shoulders, folks expecting him to rally Miami to another title. I think LeBron is hungry for a ring of his own as well. But the on-court and media pressures are not slowing him down, especially on the sneaker front. He is after all one of the better players in today’s NBA. Speaking of sneakers, LeBron’s fresh Nike LeBron 8 V/2 sneaker is making its way to the store shelves and in promotion of this, Nike has a little video out there that is sure to catch some buzz. Titled Lion, the clip represents the Lion within the player, or the shoe. Not planning to go through all the semantics of the ad, but found it pretty cool. Thus sharing it with all of you. Speaking of new sneakers, I need to get me mines. Perhaps LeBrons this time?

LeBron James and the Nike LeBron VIII kicks have gotten second round of animation from Seth MacFarlane. When we last saw the LeBron VIII the sneaker was busy using Mr. Jameses as kicks, but the latest clip actually shows us the secret to LeBron’s on-court power. I knew it, it’s all in the kicks.
Seth MacFarlane x Nike LeBron VIII
by Taavi Kuisma on Nov.30, 2010, under Entertainment, Headlines, Kicks
Family Guy’s creator Set MacFarlane recently created something that should definitely appeal to every sneaker head out there, not to mention the fans of his artwork. The Nike LeBron VIII sneaker is featured as part of MacFarlane’s Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy series, and kind of visualizes “what if the shoe wore the player and not the other way around?” Hilarious clip.
Jordan’s response to LeBron

Is Michael Jordan ethering LeBron? Those who have been following the blog closely might remember a post with LeBron’s latest ad “What should I do?”. Well Michael seems to have an answer to Mr. James. This is something straight out of hip hop beef cook book, but still somewhat entertaining. See for yourself.
Marvel meets the NBA
by Taavi Kuisma on Oct.30, 2010, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Headlines, Sports
We saw the new Tron variants by Marvel. Artwork that had many comic book purists cringing their teeth in agony. Although some of the titles were on point and pretty damn cool the whole buzz about the titles was more focused on a fear of Disney influence on Marvel. Disney did indeed acquire ownership on this comic book giant and although an idea of Donald Duck meeting Spider-Man even gets me cringing my teeth, I don’t really think this is going to hurt Marvel. Moreover I recently came across a good reason why this new partnership might actually work. You see, Disney also owns ESPN, the beloved sports central. So what’s the catch? How about NBA meeting Marvel in with original Marvel artwork on every team in the NBA?
What should I do?

It was just yesterday when I posted an article on the new Dwayne Wade ad. Well Nike has been keeping busy and the new ad with LeBron James might be even better than the ones we have seen before. The message is clear, Just Do It!
Sports Edition – Paul and LeBron

What’s good folks?
Last night’s match sure wasn’t. It was like Germany was under a spell. This got me thinking, could it be that Paul the almighty Octopus had a psychic control over the German team. Is it that his powers are like those of a Jedi? Just a little background on Paul, “Paul the octopus, who lives at the Sea Life Aquarium in western Germany, makes his prediction by picking food from containers marked with the flags of the two teams.Paul’s only inaccurate pick so far was when it picked Germany over Spain at the Euro in 2008. Spain won 1-0 in that tournament, but he has never been wrong since and has an overall record of 9-1.” (Reuters)
