Star Wars Miniland Models arrive at LEGOLAND California
by Taavi Kuisma on Jan.26, 2011, under Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets
LEGO and Star Wars mix well. I think that’s already obvious with number of successful LEGO Star Wars games and of course the LEGO Star Wars series. I myself have bought and built few of the pieces and I still have fond memories of building Boba Fett’s Slave I ship and countless other Star Wars ships with my brother back in the day. Now, LEGOLAND California is bringing in some heavy duty (and light) Star Wars inspired pieces such as huge Millenium Falcon built entirely of LEGOs. I think this part of LEGOLAND is something every Star Wars fan should visit, in case they’re wondering around at LEGOLAND. This again highlights why LEGO still inspires some really, really awesome creations. Awesome stuff.
LEGO Angry Birds

There is no doubt that the greatest export product from Finland (after us) is the Angry Birds. Personally I don’t really get what the game is really all about, but then again I only tried the game once on my iPhone and that was it. I don’t have any other games on my phone for that matter. But many people love these angry, winged fiends and their pig dropping antics. Or whatever they might be called.

Who doesn’t love LEGO? The endless source of inspiration that consists of numerous little blocks and pieces that together can form anything from castles to space ships and everything in between. Well what better way to visualize this than in a video dedicated to the creativity and inspiration LEGO is all about. Check it out.
Lego Antikythera Mechanism
by Taavi Kuisma on Dec.14, 2010, under Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets
If you are still wondering how to make use of all the LEGO blocks sitting idle in your drawer or boxes in the basement, how about replicating an ancient Greek mechanism? According to Nature.com, “Two thousand years ago, a Greek mechanic set out to build a machine that would model the workings of the known Universe. The result was a complex clockwork mechanism that displayed the motions of the Sun, Moon and planets on precisely marked dials. By turning a handle, the creator could watch his tiny celestial bodies trace their undulating paths through the sky.”
LEGO Lamborghini Gallardo

We’ve had few posts featuring Lamborghinis and although it is a mere drea of any men to own one, but now you can actually make one yourself. So what’s the catch? We’re talking about a LEGO Lamborghini Gallardo here. But don’t let the toy status fool you. This baby is packed with details and LEGOisms sure to excite the kids and their fathers (and hey, maybe some mothers too). Maybe I should start stocking items like these for the time my son can actually build these. For ages 9-14, I’m sure it will be those much older than 14 that buy these and definitely kids of all ages whom will enjoy LEGO artistry in a form of a classic car. The timing couldn’t be any better either, with the holidays just behind the corner.
LEGO Follow Focus

There seems to be no limit to things you can do with a set of LEGOs. From awesome stop-motion videos to Wii-mote decoration. But this is just the tip of the iceberg, there is no limit to innovation and apparently functionality when it comes to the LEGO blocks.
Lego meets Nintendo Wii
by Taavi Kuisma on Oct.14, 2010, under Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets
You know it’s awesome that LEGO makes even the normal stuff seem nice. So when LEGO contributes to something nice like Nintendo Wiimote, you know it’s bound to be good. So ditch those plain white (or black) wiimotes and put some color to your game room with the official LEGO Nintendo Wii controllers.
God is in details
by Taavi Kuisma on Aug.10, 2010, under Headlines, Social Media & Advertising
How would you advertise a product such as pen capable of fine details like no other? I once saw a dude write biblical stuff on rice grains but I think that might be a bit over the top. How about a product we all can relate to. Something like LEGO’s perhaps? Grey Barcelona came up with a somewhat amazing campaign for a simple product such as a Pilot pen. I salute the creative team behind the ads. Hey the pen must be capable of fine details if you can tattoo LEGO figures with it.
Retro Edition

What’s good?
I’m rolling in a throwback mood and thought of posting little retro edition. I have a feeling that I posted a little throwback edition ages ago but some of the stuff I saw on the web recently got me reminiscing the good old Nintendo 8-Bit days. The Super Ultra Kara-tay video by G-Shock and Kenzo Digital pretty much summarizes the whole retro thing into a nice 6.30 minute package.
