2012 was a crazy year. Not the easiest on our beloved denim industry. Challenges have come by in terms of economic down turns, exchange rates and changing consumer demand. This was one of key subjects we discussed when I met up with the guys from Momotaro Jeans & Japan Blue earlier last year. It was great meeting the guys, last I saw them was back in 2010 in Copenhagen, when Maxwell was still posted up in his mummy’s tummy. It’s always great to talk with like-minded people in the industry, whether the times are good or bad.

We’re getting ready to kick-start the sample production for the Northern Denim Co. Lot 750x natural indigo jeans. But before going into production of the jeans, we wanted to unveil the evolved label/logo design. The new design does not only reflect the growth of the label but also the growth of our muse, Maxwell whom is quite a warrior.

Few days back I promise more shots of the custom Ladies’ Line jeans for Northern Denim Co. The Lot 3010 jeans were custom made with a 3 button fly and measurements specifically made for ladies. From early on I started to get inquiries about ladies’ jeans and agreed to have 5 pairs produced for 5 lucky ladies. These exclusive jeans were shipped to Taiwan, Finland, Netherlands, Malaysia and Thailand all custom made based on the requested sizes.

Having worn the 13.5oz Old American Selvedge Denim Lot 3010 jeans for about 6 months now, I’ve seen how the denim behaves and fades. The denim is rather “uneven” paying homage to the old production methods that not give equally even fabric. This gives the jeans a slightly rugged appearance and also ensures every pair is truly unique.

The denim’s fading is equally unique. The denim is not fast fading although the first soak does leave your bathtub blue in color. With wear the jeans do however fade and I’ve been more than happy with the results of my own particular pair of Northern Denim Co. Jeans.

As a preview every pair features a piece of fabric that not only serves as a fix patch but also gives an idea of how the jeans will fade.

It was a bit over a week ago that we received the Northern Denim Co. Jeans in Malaysia. It took a bit longer here due to customs and postal services, but it’s all good. The jeans are here and delivered to most of the customers already (with arrangements made with those without their jeans). So since the jeans are here I thought of dropping few posts on the jeans, starting with the custom ladies jeans.

Only 5 pairs of these custom ladies’ jeans were produced with custom measurements and special 3 button fly rare with “raw” denim for ladies as majority of the ladies’ jeans have a zipper fly. More of those three buttons later. I first wanted to post few fit pics of the raw jeans.

As the title indicated, the Northern Denim Co. Lot 3010 jeans have finally landed in Finland. And no, this is not an April fools’ joke. The jeans arrived few days back, but the customs clearance took additional few days but we finally have the jeans at hand and we’ll be shipping out the jeans to all pre-ordered customers tomorrow or latest Tuesday. We’re packing and shipping the jeans as fast as we can but there are quite a few jeans to ship so bear with us. The first jeans were already last week and it happens that the first two owners were in Taiwan. Next week the jeans will be shipping out to number of countries and hopefully the Malaysian customs hand over the jeans tomorrow for us to deliver the jeans to anticipating owners here.
