Globe-Trotter – Making of a Suitcase

by on Jan.07, 2012, under Accessories & Luggage, Headlines

Way too often we appreciate goods for their functionality, beauty or for the sub-conscious factors like the symbolic value of the goods without thinking about the time and effort that goes into making that particular product. Globe-Trotter is a world-renowned luggage producer that has kept up the artisan mentality in producing their suitcases and other leather goods since 1897. Their recently launched video showcases just what goes into making a Globe-Trotter suitcase.

Messenger Bag

by on Jan.02, 2012, under Accessories & Luggage, Headlines

The older you get the more you start to appreciate the intangible Christmas things such as time spent with the family. This Christmas was special as it’s been over almost a year we last stepped in Finland. It was good time with the entire family together. Christmas or any holiday for that matter is so much more than the presents. But the presents do count as well. Even the presents given this year were special to say the least. The theme was definitely vintage goods in form of watches, jewelry and a bag. This edition is dedicated to that bag a present from my family.

Louis Vuitton Voyages in Beijing

by on Jun.03, 2011, under Accessories & Luggage, Comics, Design and Artwork, Fashion and style, Headlines

Louis Vuitton is presenting their wonderful voyage in form of exhibition showcasing impressive amount of luggage from the journey. The latest leg of the exhibition will run in the National Museum of China in Beijing from 31st of May until 30th of August 2011. According to Louis Vuitton, “the Louis Vuitton – Voyages” exhibition retraces the crowning moments in the history of the Maison, which since 1854 — the date when it was established — has beautifully paired form with function, creating travel items that bear witness to the French lifestyle.”

In promotion of the Voyages, LV has released cool short film/animation which at least attracted me with visual simplicity and style of animation.

Gucci’s Artisans at work

by on Mar.17, 2011, under Fashion and style, Headlines

You know I’m a fan of artisan products and stories behind the goods. Recently I came across a cool picture from Gucci, showing a group of artisans from the 40s’ producing the brand’s products at Gucci’s Florentine workshop. I like the style of the picture, I mean it shows the hand made approach of the brand ever-so-nicely. Gucci’s one of those brands that kind of shares opinions (like every brand) but personally I have been very happy with my belt and if the belt can take the wear and tear it’s put through for another year, I will most likely acquire another one in the future. I hope Gucci will post more pictures such as these in the future as these attract me much more than the fashion show pics they normally publish on weekly basis.

Louis Vuitton Infiniti Essence

by on Nov.23, 2010, under Accessories & Luggage, Comics, Design and Artwork, Headlines

A car that looks something like Batmobile or Speed Racer’s wheels of choice, not a bad description. This was the first reaction I got when I saw the Infiniti Essence concept debuted at last year’s Geneva Motorshow. I wasn’t the only one either that called the car Batmobile as few other people I know mentioned the same thing. Maybe it’s the somewhat futuristic style that still looks like a car that could actually roam on the roads turning heads everywhere it went.

If you happen to have an all black Aston Martin or any other car that actually fits your luggage, this set of bags is sure to look good in the trunk of the car.

Louis Vuitton’s  city guides are out, their 100 legendary trunks book is getting plenty of attention and now this luxury luggage maker has brought an impressive collection of iconic trunks and luggage to Carnavalet museum in Pari. According to Louis Vuitton, “from October 13th to February 27th, the Carnavalet museum in Paris is showcasing the Saga of Louis Vuitton Malletier, gathering together for the first time the iconic trunks and luggages which have embodied the Art of Travel for more than 150 years.” The video looks impressive alone, so I can imagine the exhibition is even better. Mastermind Japan x Globe-Trotter Luggage

by on Sep.16, 2010, under Accessories & Luggage, Headlines

Come January 2011 (touch wood) we’ll be embarking on a journey back to Malaysia truly Asia, my second home. Needless to say the trip is already on our minds and the mental preparation has started. Naturally I will be traveling lightly, the plan is to only carry my trusted vintage duffel bag with some necessities, notebook and one baby, So we’re talking about hand luggage. Not sure about my wife though. Although she is also vouching to travel with light luggage only, I don’t know it could be that she will have enough luggage for the three of us. But that’s all good as long as your luggage is well suited for the journey.
