by Taavi Kuisma on Apr.23, 2011, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Fashion and style, Headlines
While back we posted a first teaser about on the upcoming Marvel x Stussy collaboration. Now Stussy has released a preview video on the collaboration and might I say, the collaboration is looking pretty damn nice. At least to a comic book fan. I’m sure the tees will be a hot item also outside the comic book circles. According to Stussy, “the Series One of the collaboration will be released on April 27th. Series One includes nine designs featuring some of Marvel’s most iconic superheroes mixed with Stussy’s iconic graphic language. Series Two will release on May 6th featuring nine guest artists interpreting their favorite characters from the Marvel Universe. Each purchase will include a limited edition pack of Stussy x Marvel trading cards, while supplies last.” (Stussy)

by Taavi Kuisma on Mar.24, 2011, under Entertainment, Headlines
Marvel recently released the official trailer for the Captain America: The First Avenger. We saw the first spot during Super Bowl halftime, now we have the official trailer for the movie. The film looks awesome, I mean as a fan of the comics I could not find anything to complain about the trailer. I seriously can’t wait for the film. So what do you think about the movie version of Steve Rogers?
Stussy x Marvel team-up

Did I mention collaborations are cool? They are, especially when one of the collaborative parties is the comic book giant Marvel. Marvel is cool on its own and we’ve seen pretty awesome Marvel collaborations in the past so a collaboration with the street label Stussy should be nothing from pure awesome. Marvel characters and themes mixed with Stussy’s imagery. According to Hypebeast, “Stussy scoured comic books conventions, eBay, and local comic book stores for old issues with classic covers that would mold well with Stussy’s design aesthetic. Scanned from the original comic books and rare collectors posters from the 1960′s – 1990′s, the tee designs capture the essence of the characters, the texture of vintage comic books and the soulfulness of the Stussy brand.” You can’t go wrong with that now can you? Can’t wait to see what will come out of this. But should be cool! What can I say, I love comic books.
The look of the new Spider-Man
by Taavi Kuisma on Feb.15, 2011, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Entertainment, Headlines
We posted some initial sneak preview pictures of the new Spider Man movie in the making. The movie starring Andrew Garfield as the web head has created some buzz around the web mainly because the movie’s rebooting the entire franchise. There are some differences for sure, but Marvel has been gracious enough to give us a look at how this iconic superhero will look like in the movie. And here you go.
X-Men – First Class
by Taavi Kuisma on Feb.11, 2011, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Entertainment, Headlines
This year is full of comic book movie releases and one of the more “slept on” releases is the X-Men First Class, which has definitely not caused quite the buzz as Thor or Captain America. I feel as if the marketing budget for the movie might be somewhat smaller as well. The movie has its theatrical trailer now though that gives us a bit better look on what to expect from the movie scheduled to hit the cinemas this summer.
NBA x Marvel All-Stars
by Taavi Kuisma on Feb.08, 2011, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Fashion and style, Headlines, Sports
While back NBA and Marvel joined forces for some pretty epic NBA styled Marvel cover art. Now these two names have joined forces again for some exclusive Marvel styled NBA apparel. Now in most cases these types of shirts would not look too cool. But don’t let the idea fool you. The shirts and caps produced for this collaboration are pretty damn cool.

As if you would need any more reasons to tune in for the SuperBowl Sunday match up between Pittsburgh Steelers and Greenbay Packers, Marvel has hinted that first footage of the upcoming Captain America movie would be shown during its commercial break. “Marvel will have a little something extra for you to get excited about, with your first look at “Captain America: The First Avenger” and a fresh peek at “Thor” in two all-new spots! Airing during the FOX Super Bowl broadcast on Sunday, February 6, these new spots will help whet your appetite until “Thor” hits theaters on May 6 and “Captain America: The First Avenger” bursts onto the big screen on July 22.” (Marvel)
Captain America Poster
by Taavi Kuisma on Feb.05, 2011, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Entertainment, Headlines
22nd of July 2011 is only about half a year away and that means we’re getting to see more and more previews of the upcoming Captain America film. The movie starring Chris Evans as Captain America: The First Avenger is getting more and more hype built around it and already has the forums buzzing. Many naysayers are complaining about Evans also starring as the Human Torch in the Fantastic Four. Personally I don’t really see this as a problem. After all, there are a lot of superheroes and just a number of actors who can pull off the particular roles. The latest Marvel release is the cinematic poster for the film and it’s pretty epic. Thor’s poster was not bad but it wasn’t really special either. But I like the Captain America’s movie poster. Let’s just say it fits. What do you think? Do you think Captain America will set a new pace for the Marvel Super Hero movies or will it be just another comic book flick. Let us know.
Captain America the First Avenger – The Look
by Taavi Kuisma on Jan.28, 2011, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Entertainment, Headlines
You know I am exctied about the upcoming Captain America the First Avenger movie. Being a huge fan of Cap and comic books in general I can’t wait to see how they put this one together. One thins I already appreciate is the fact that they have made the movie to take place in the WW2 era and kept it real with the costumes. Now we’ve seen some initial pictures of Steve Rogers / Captain America, but this far we have only seen the concept art of the “Captain America attire”. Well the wait is over and Marvel has given us the first look at how Cap will look like in the movie.
Incredible Hulk – Muckle Mannequins
by Taavi Kuisma on Jan.27, 2011, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Headlines
There are many forms of artisan work and sculptors are among the earliest forms of this class of talents. Muckle Mannequins have taken the sculpting craft to another level with their life-sized versions of movie and video-game characters. They latest venture is on the Marvel comics and their sculptures enable comic book fans to get a life-size statue of their favorite hero (as per my knowledge limited to Iron Man, Spider Man and Hulk right now) for an amount between $1 500 and $4 000. I would think it’s Hulk that costs close to the $4 000. Still it could be worse, I mean when your friends have a 1:6 scaled action figures you would have the real life-size Hulk in your living room. Then again if you do need ample space for one of these statues.
