mastermind Japan x Timberland
by Taavi Kuisma on Jun.29, 2011, under Headlines, Kicks
Now this makes an interesting collaboration. mastermind Japan has teamed up with iconic boot maker Timberland for one of a kind collaboration 6″ boots. I am surprised they did not choose the black color for the boots knowing mastermind usually sticks with the signature black. I’m actually happy they chose the wheat color. All of my Timbs are in this color and I have feeling the future ones will be as well. No details on the price of the collaboration just yet but you can look for this around S/S 2012. If you are interested it’s best to note that this collaboration obviously comes in very limited numbers.
mastermind Japan x Building – Collaboration continues
by Taavi Kuisma on Mar.10, 2011, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Headlines
Last year we presented a pretty cool collaboration by mastermind Japan and Building titled Carré. The collaboration continues with new furniture pieces to match the previous ones. This collaboration presents a mirror with all black wooden frame and a half circle carpet that is supposed to be placed in front of the mirror for a “full circle” image featuring mastermind Japan’s skull and bones detail on an all black carper. I really like the aesthetics of their furniture collection and with the decent price tag they hold, I can’t see any reason why these pieces would not fly off the stores as soon as they arrived there. Awesome design to furnish your accommodation.

Following a post on the Aston Martin inclusive of 6-piece luggage set, I bumped into a collection by mastermind Japan and Porter designed purposely for mastermind Villa on ZOZOVILLA. The bag collection includes a Boston bag, waist bag, pouch, pen case, wallet and totebags all done in signature mastermind style with all black color with skull and bones motif. If you happen to have an all black Aston Martin or any other car that actually fits your luggage, this set of bags is sure to look good in the trunk of the car.
Collaborations

Collaborations are the in-thing of today’s fashion scene. The collaborations give a chance for two brands to combine their best features with the best features of another brand. The collaborations might come in form of and Artist giving perspective to a brand’s classic style e.g. Takashi Murakami x Louis Vuitton. Other brands such as mastermind Japan have made art of the collaborations. They combine their mastermind touch with the other brand’s style while retaining the other brand’s characteristics. I just wonder, if mastermind Japan is really seizing their operations in 2013, who’s going to take over the collaboration scene? We need another master-brand that can turn even ordinary every-day items into coveted collectors’ items.
Mastermind Japan x Globe-Trotter Luggage
by Taavi Kuisma on Sep.16, 2010, under Accessories & Luggage, Headlines
Come January 2011 (touch wood) we’ll be embarking on a journey back to Malaysia truly Asia, my second home. Needless to say the trip is already on our minds and the mental preparation has started. Naturally I will be traveling lightly, the plan is to only carry my trusted vintage duffel bag with some necessities, notebook and one baby, So we’re talking about hand luggage. Not sure about my wife though. Although she is also vouching to travel with light luggage only, I don’t know it could be that she will have enough luggage for the three of us. But that’s all good as long as your luggage is well suited for the journey.
Times were hard

“All white mansion, I’m a child of god. All black diamonds, times were hard” states Rick Ross on his song Free Mason. Not that having to have to satisfy with “only” black diamonds is a sign of bad times, it is an apt reference if you ask me. But times are hard aren’t they? More and more online and offline companies in the fashion industry are calling it quits. Even companies that we all thought were doing it big. And it’s not just companies in one region, this seems to be a global phenomenon. But hey, we all know about the global economic crisis. So what’s new?

Good morning world!
The weekend was full of action mostly work related, but there was some time left for relaxation as well (fortunately). So why don’t we check out just few of the more notable releases in the world of specs/glasses.

What’s good?
It’s all good at my neck of the woods so I hope it’s the same there.
The FIFA World Cup is officially over. Another four years without soccer (except of the Euro Cup, but that’s more or less a teaser for the next WC). But yeah, Spain won, which is nice. Something fresh. Paul retained his status as a psychic know-it-all. I’m sure no-one can doubt his Jedi skills now. But on the downside, a lot of disappointed followers of teamBJ are now left without… well you know it. Great tournament I suppose, plenty of surprises, good games and so much more. As said, only 4 years till next one.
Mastermind Japan x Carré – The design edition
by Taavi Kuisma on Jun.30, 2010, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Headlines
What’s good everyone?
Today I thought of posting a little something about design and design furniture in particular. This new edition was inspired by something pretty cool I came across yesterday. Those who know Mastermind associate the brand with attention to details and high price. The brand has produced numerous collaborations usually in the ranges of clothing and accessories. The brand has now ventured to furniture business. Their collaboration with Building titled Carré mixes the brand’s attention to details, the typical Mastermind looks with the design-furniture know-how of Building.
