This week (or last week actually) I want to draw attention to a much “neglected” backside of the jeans. Not that I have really neglected the back pockets and seat of the jeans, most of the attention has been in the front. I have shown details and changes on the back pockets and seat altogether from time to time, but I thought of posting few close-ups this week, just to keep a balance in the project updates. So only back pocket talk today.

What actually drew me to post pics of the back pockets was the fact that the stitching (Momotaro Jeans signature crexcent design) on the right back pocket has finally started to wear out and the stitching has come loose from few spots. Let the below picture tell the rest.

In my case, I merely keep a traveling card in this particular pocket so not much embossing going on at all. The left back pocket, which we will deal with in a minute has gotten most of the fading since for this project I moved my wallet to this particular pocket. Something I have never done before. Somehow I prefer to keep my wallet in the front pocket. However, this does affect the whiskering of the jeans to a great deal, so if you want the jeans to develop a full set of whiskers, I recommend carrying your wallet somewhere else than your front pocket. Assuming the wallet has any content. Back to the right back pocket.

I have seen Copper Label jeans which only have lines reminding of the stitching left after a year’s wear or so. With my jeans, I’m pretty sure the stitching is going to hold for another year, probably longer than many other parts of the jeans. But some of the jeans sure look awesome with a faded line left on the back pocket instead of the stitching. I saw one pair of jeans like that back in Terminal-2 in Copenhagen back in February. Ah, those were the days.

So back to the left side of the seat. The pocket keeps fading, but interesting enough most of the fading has centralized to the embossed part of the wallet which is actually the wallet’s zipper.

The pocket is holding up nicely and I kind of like the personal fading due to this type of wallet. The wallet is holding up nicely, but needs to be changed soon enough. I think it can still carry my cards for a while but it’s getting old. They don’t make leather wallets as they used to. Oh well.

As an added bonus a little picture of the front pocket’s (left one), stitching that has also unraveled a bit. The lining is still holding it’s own unlike the right pocket that I fixed last week. But then again this side has not been rubbed as much as the other front pocket in which I carry my iPhone.

That’s all for now. More will follow at the end of the week. So until then, keep your jeans clean and enjoy the Autumn. I’m out, peace.

Today I thought of finishing the day by sharing details on another special denim design from our beloved Momotaro Jeans from Kojima, Okayama. You might have seen the below picture at Momotaro Jeans Facebook Page. The picture is from an exclusive denim design only available at Momotaro Jeans Denim House in Japan. I present to you, Momotaro Jeans Silver Label.

A limited number of these jeans have been produced as the design features the same exclusive details as the coveted Gold Label Momotaro Jeans.

The denim is made using 100% organic cotton for natural, soft wearing experience. The yarn of the Silver Label Momotaro Jeans is dyed using natural indigo grown in Okayama, Japan. As with all of Momotaro Jeans denim, the hand dyed yarn is then woven into denim fabric using vintage shuttle looms. Just like with Gold Label, the jeans have hand dyed natural indigo finishing, but the denim is woven with machine loom instead of the hand loom. Giving the denim similar finishing as with G003-A. What separates the Silver Label from Gold Label is also the zipper fly instead of buttons. According to Momotaro Jeans, the denim is targeted to those 40 years and above whom in Japan prefer zipper fly instead of buttons.

The button is made of silver just like the title indicates. The other hardware is copper. Similar to brands like Copper Label Momotaro Jeans. You can see other features similar to Copper Label such as the signature stitching on the right back pocket as well as the lining of the jeans. The hue of the Japan Blue dye is naturally different as the jeans are dyed using natural indigo that gives a traditional beautiful blue to the jeans.

The item number for the Silver Label jeans is “S003-AZ”. The cut of the jeans is Classic Straight cut similar to G003-MB . The Label currently features only one cut.

The jeans look great and I’m especially fond of the leather patch with silver details. The natural indigo dye and vintage finishing doesn’t hurt either. The jeans are priced similar to the lower costing Gold Label jeans, but as mentioned only available at Momotaro Jeans in Japan and in very limited numbers. We shall see if this product or a adaptation of this particular model becomes available outside Japan and Momotaro Jeans’ Denim House. I like the simple, but refined look of the jeans and having been in touch with the Gold Label jeans, have no doubt the quality will be outstanding as well. I really hope to get a chance to put a natural indigo dyed pair of jeans through wear and tear test to see how the denim adapts to the lifestyle and since the hand dyed yarn does not fade quite the same as pure indigo dye, the end results should be splendid.

Another week has passed us and the jeans have traveled from one city to another seeing pretty much everything from business meetings to picking apples from orchard. Summer’s over. It’s time to focus on the Autumn season and prepare for Winter. It’s been 7,5 months and the jeans have seen every season in the book. I guess the rainiest and grimiest of the Autumn is still coming up but it’s all good.

So I had some damage control to do as the right pocket lining had lost a battle against my ring. So this is where we were at for the past few weeks.

Fast forward to this weekend and the actual damage control. I was first thinking of letting the lining stay the same but as I am planning to keep wearing the jeans for another year, it’s good to take care of these small damages as soon as possible. Hand stitching alone will probably not last much longer so I decided to dig up the “heavy artillery”, more specifically a vintage Singer sewing machine from way back.

Since the tear was pretty clean all that was needed was little bit of folding and stitching.

Not, the pocket is like new and we’ve got some added personification to the jeans. Awesome.

Since I was at it, I decided to re-enforce the seam on the crotch and inseam. Although the stitching was still all intact, I thought this would not hurt.

Following the stitching/sewing I gave the jeans another well-earned wash. I was actually supposed to wash the jeans already a week ago but did not have a chance to do so. But now the jeans are dry, clean and ready for the Autumn. Here’s a look of the jeans in their current form.

So, I am certain the jeans are good for another year of wear and tear. Let’s see what this week will bring along. But no matter what it is, I’m sure it will be all good. Peace and enjoy the Sunday, no matter where you’re at.

I thought of combining the past two weeks of my Momotaro Jeans Copper Label journey into one big post full of pics from the past weeks, mostly from Copenhagen since after we came back to Finland I have not had a chance to take any proper pics of the jeans. Also I think the best pics were taken last week. Real life pics that really show the jeans in their current state in action also compared to other wear and tear projects and new jeans. It’s also a nice little summary of our trip to the awesome city of Copenhagen. So I guess it’s best to start from the beginning.

Airport is pretty awesome place for work. I can’t even imagine spending time on the airport without all of today’s conveniences. All you need is that wifi connection and you’re good to go. Very productive 1,5 hours might I say!

I left my mark on the cafe chair too!

It’s always exciting to arrive in a new spot and finding your way around the city to the place where you got to be. I always prefer to walk whenever this was possible. This picture was taken on one of those less rainy days as most of the time it was just pouring rain day in day out.

This is where we spent most of our time in CPH. The venue at Gallery International Fashion Fair.

The entire time I was surrounded by different wear and tear projects from different individuals.

The winner is definitely this Going to Battle Label pair of Momotaro Jeans.

Although I don’t think my current project is far behind. Catching up on that particular pair real fast!

It’s always awesome to do some comparison to a fresh pair of jeans from the same label. You might think the jeans you’ve been wearing have not faded at all but the difference is there.

As mentioned most of the time was spent on the fair venue, but we had booked late flights on Sunday so we had some time to spend in the city roaming around. One of the main attractions we just had to visit was the Carlsberg factory, I mean it was something else. I seldom attend any of these tourist type of things, but I was happy we went there. The clouds looked pretty gloomy in the morning, although there was no rain it was very hot and humid everywhere.

Not sure what’s the story behind the Elephants at the gate? if you know, please share it with us too.

Apparently they have the biggest collection of beer bottles in the world.

It was awesome that it wasn’t raining at all on our last day as we got to spend at least little bit of time outside without the fear of getting soaked.

Most of the afternoon we spent roaming around the city embracing the Sunday’s buzz and the end of the CPH Fashion Week. Plenty of tourists all over the place and very vibrant environment. I liked it a lot. Last time we barely had any time to observe CPH and life within the city streets. I really like the fact that people bring their kids outside to eat, shop and spend time instead of just leaving them at home. Kids no matter what’s their age are part of the daily life. People are also very happy in comparison to the constant frowning you come across in Helsinki. I kid you not, most of the time people look like they get paid for frowning.

I also liked the boutiques in CPH, the Gucci store had very nice inviting atmosphere and the staff there were friendly and helpful. You see this is something I do in every city, I visit the boutiques to check the surrounding and the service (or the quality of service). You can learn so much by visiting these stores. It’s quite sad that majority of higher end boutiques feature ice cold staff that scan you the very moment you walk in and based on whether you meet their liking either give you assistance, neglect you or ask you to leave. Oh yeah, I have seen that. What most of these people don’t understand is that quite often it is the guy with relaxed outfit and casual looks that has the buying power instead of the people all dressed up to the occasion. Hey I know “I look so stylish, these people must have mistook me for my stylist” as Kanye said it but I’m sure you got the point. The service you get often decides whether you will leave your money with them or take it to another boutique or store.

There’s always a bigger fish, or a bigger dude. Although this one’s only a statue the guy was definitely much taller than me and I’m a big dude.

So, we had great time in CPH, and I really recommend this city to anyone looking for an urban holiday. I am sure we will be back to this city once again, let’s just see when. Life’s good, life’s beautiful so let’s not let small bumps on the road slow us down. The jeans are still intact and will get another well deserved wash next week, but until then I’m out. Copenhagen We Love You. Peace!

During the Gallery CPH Fashion Fair, we had the pleasure to preview the new Momotaro Jeans tops for the season. The new chambray and denim shirts as well as the return (not that it ever really left) of the classic 2105SP Double Pocket Denim Jacket make a nice addition to the Momotaro Jeans collection.

I thought it would be nice to share few pics and some details of the tops. Having seen the tops live I have to say the shirts and the jacket are pretty awesome.

8 oz Vintage Denim Shirt

The 8 oz denim shirt is a true Vintage shirt features durable high quality fabric sewn together with Vintage sewing machines making this a classic Western shirt. The shirt is slightly heavier than the 5 oz chambray shirts we have seen from Momotaro Jeans. Although the shirt is made of tougher denim it’s still soft an comfortable like any Momotaro Jeans product. The shirt is available in sizes 38, 40 and 42 and priced 169 €.

5 oz Selvedge Chambray Workshirts

The shirts have a tight fitting original vintage silhouette and mix wearing pleasure with Vintage shirt specifications full of fine details. The shirts are sewed with great care using reliable quality fabric to ensure better Style and Quality than many other Vintage shirts. All shirts are fully produced in Kojima, Okayama. The shirts are available in sizes 36, 38, 40, 42 and 44 and priced 159 €.

Last but not least there is the Momotaro Jeans 2105SP Double Pocket Denim Jacket.

The jacket is part of the Going to Battle series and features the Japan Lines on the left sleeve. The jacket is made of the 15.7 oz deep blue denim as Going to Battle Label jeans and makes a nice addition to anyone’s wardrobe. The jacket also has a vintage silhouette like the shirts giving it a nice “slim” and fitting fit but still keeping it comfortable. Awesome jacket I just wish existed in size 50.

If you would like to order these tops, just contact us at info@nordicdenimhouse.com.

That’s all for now, we’ll be back with more tomorrow. So take care of you and yours, peace!

Day three of the Gallery International Fashion Fair is over! We have packed out bags and boxes leaving our beloved stand empty as it was before we came to Copenhagen. You always get that funny feeling when you’re packing away all the cool stuff you were surrounded with over the past few days.

Day three was rather quiet in comparison to February’s, however last time the fair at Terminal-2 was a four day event and a different event altogether so there’s no need to compare.

We met more of our friends and had good chats about denim, fabrics and fashion in general. Made good plans for the future and had fun all the way to the end of the exhibition.

I realized I had not included a picture from the fair on the blog just yet. So here you go, a view from the second floor of the Forum Copenhagen.

In celebration of the last day, the drink serving started pretty early and you could see folks walking around with drinks in their hands already early afternoon. It could be that it was the same every day but in the previous days I was too busy to notice that. Well we had our share, but since we’re talking about “free drinks” (nothing’s free in this world) the amount of alcohol is very small so we were basically enjoying cranberry juice all afternoon. I have to voice out my appreciation for the organizers for including plenty of drinking water on the venue.

These waterboxes kept us hydrated throughout the event.

I had a nice chat with the folks from TribaSpace, discussing the event and next steps. It’s always nice to have a chat with like-minded people and I’m always in for a meaningful conversation, so keep in touch guys!

We made the best out of the more quiet minutes by conducting product photography and chatting about the product lines and way to improve the existing products. Most of the pictures taken were for the Japan Blue brand but I caught few pics of the Momotaro Jeans selection as well. I will post pics and details on the blog about new lineups for the season soon, so stay tuned for that.

It’s always crazy how fast the time flies when you’re doing something meaningful and fun. I told everyone that I felt like I’m on holiday even though we have been working as hard if not harder than back home. Still the environment and the relaxing pace of the Gallery CPH were like a vacation for yours truly. It remains to be seen if we will be back for next season. But one thing is for sure, our foothold in the region is firmer and we are here to stay.

Thanks to everyone for their support during the event and a special thanks to all those sending emails, comments and visiting us during the Copenhagen fashion week.

Japan Blue, Momotaro Jeans and Nordic Denim House have left the building and we’re off to the rainy city of Copenhagen to watch Expendables! Yeah!

At the Gallery CPH, we want to show the public how the jeans could change along the wear. For the GTB and Vintage Labels we have a number of jeans from our customers that have been worn for a year to few years and the jeans have the fading to show it.

We found out during the Terminal-2 when we had the wall full of worn jeans that people were very keen to buy these actual jeans, this is why we “had to” include tags that tell the jeans are samples and not for sale.

The idea is to show everyone the new jeans in their fresh form and then a possible way the jeans will turn out. I’ve been wearing my Copper Label jeans as a living example of how your jeans can turn out in 7 months.

But have a look at some really, really dope faded Momotaro Jeans. You can find plenty of worn denim pics at Momotaro Jeans Facebook Page.

Going to Battle Label 0905 worn for over a year!

Really loving the details, especially the Going to Battle Label Jeans. I think I have never seen jeans like these before. The owner must have worn these at all times. Nevertheless, pretty awesome stuff.

Gallery CPH still continues and we stay posted on our booth. Stay tuned for more updates.

The day two of the Gallery CPH started off nicely with a pretty damn good breakfast as always. Last night was a late night with plenty of work to do after the Fair. We actually had a chance to go and watch The Expendables, but were too tired and busy for such luxuries. However once you got to the venue it was all business once again. We met some familiar faces in the morning and got a nice kickstart for the day. This however did not last too long.

Around lunch time we the number of people was greatly reduced and late afternoon the venue was very, very quiet. I heard that there was a fashion show somewhere outside and I sure hope this was the case because Gallery was empty like school on Sunday (I think they started to serve the food and drinks outside, the sun was shining and there was a fashion show outside). So I used my time to get to knoe the Japan Blue products even better, like the shirts.

The buzz and number of random people passing by was reduced to probably half of the first day. This raises question about the event itself or at least about the timing of the other attractions. Still the contacts we made were nice. More interesting chats with likeminded people.

The fan has been very useful as after al lthat walking and talking you need to cool down and what better way to do so than a Vintage hand made and dyed Japan Blue fan.

I also had good time to focus on my other work and make way to my inbox. Hope you have been following us on Twitter as this has become the main method of communicating what’s happening here. SLow days such as these also enable interesting chats with your colleagues about Dragonball and Hakuto No Ken! You know these toons?

Work hard, play hard! Martini sponsorship guaranteed that the drinks were flowing for another day. So we might have had our share.

The message on the bar counter was clear as well. Noted with!

It was also nice to see folks outside since it was like the first evening it was not raining. The catering was not half bad and I can imagine that all the people that were supposed to be inside were actually packed outside enjoying the weather and catering since it was the first clear sunny day for a while. All good, I appreciate, never hate.

Following the event we made our way to a local Danish restaurant called Tivolihallen which according to our Japanese guide-book serves authentic Danish cuisine, and it certainly did! It was pretty awesome and our Japanese associates seemed to like the food as well. The environment was interesting to say the least. Again just like the night before, it was all about good conversation, company and food. No business talk, just fun. Appreciated the dinner guys. Arigato Gozaimashita!

Tomorrow shall be an awesome day, I think. But now it’s time to catch some well earned shuteye. Copenhagen, over and out.

The first day of the Gallery International Fashion Fair is done with and we definitely did not leave the venue empty handed What we have at our hands is the world premiere of the Melange Denim ER007-3B. They were brought to us exclusively from Japan so in the sense Copenhagen is the first country to have them, although they will be shipped out after the Fair.

The coveted jeans that left many impressed during Terminal-2 have finally made their grand entry in the denim world. The jeans will become available through our Online Store soon but it feels good to finally have an actual pair of these jeans at my hands. And no, samples don’t count. The jeans in the picture will be shipped out soon and we can’t wait to get feedback on the jeans. It will be interesting to see how these jeans wear and fade as they don’t really fade but at the same tome they do. So it should be good.

Stay tuned for updates on the release date, we’ll keep you posted.
