Candy Coronas and big plans

by on Aug.02, 2011, under Editorial, Entertainment, Fashion and style, Headlines

…and times were hard. Not that the times are that bad, the last month has not been the easiest but it’s a matter of getting the most of even the hard times and appreciate the entire journey. But I can see light at the end of the tunnel, sunshine after the rain and all that. On the note of ups and downs, our site was down last night, we’ve over grown from our current server environment (which is not a bad thing of course) and need to relocate to perhaps a dedicated server. The plan is already there and should there be more downtime, we’ll get the updates across as soon as possible.

An Eternal Soul

by on Jul.27, 2011, under Entertainment, Headlines

Nothing fits better to one’s day off (I wish I had one right now) than good music. For chilling it’s mostly all about Nujabes catalogs that play on the background when I’m surfing the web or just spending quality time with the family. The world lost a great artist last year with the passing of Sun Jeba aka Nujabes. His music however lives on with numerous artists and music lovers being inspired by his innovative approach to music production. Better yet, a documentary titles An Eternal Soul is coming up just behind the corner giving more insight to Nujabes’ raw talent through his associates and friends. A documentary I can’t wait to see. No release date yet, but we’ll keep you posted. Shout out to Tim for the heads up on this.

Another Monster

by on Jun.05, 2011, under Entertainment, Headlines

It’s funny how these artists release one video for a song, following which they release another video just few weeks or months later. I feel Kanye just dropped a video for Monster and now we can all watch the final version of the video. Even grimier horror-fest than the previous one, but the song is dope and I can’t hate on the video either. I guess it’s all about exposure and two videos definitely catch more buzz than just one.

Blow

by on May.18, 2011, under Entertainment, Headlines

The ever so important topic of conversation in the world of Hip Hop. Caine, Yayo or whatever you want to call it, cocaine is referred to pretty much as often as bling, money, cars and women in majority of rap songs. Pusha T has made name for himself talking about this commodity and his latest track to get some Youtube airtime is nothing short of dedication to the piles in front of Scarface. 2 minutes plus of raw lyrical talent. Can’t hate on the track or the video by Mike Carson & Mike Waxx. The few tracks out there are setting good standard for Pusha T’s Fear of God Mixtape.

John version 2

by on May.15, 2011, under Entertainment, Headlines

Sunday morning (afternoon) and still so much to do. Mornings like these need a power song or two to kick-start the day. So it just so happens that I have given Lil’ Wayne’s John (If I die tonight) quite few spins and interesting enough while the hip hop community thought the video released a month back was the official video, it wasn’t. Weezy recently released the official version of his video for John directed by Collin Tiller. Right, so some things have not changed. Rick Ross is still in a wheelchair (it would be great if someone could explain why?). The wheelchair has spinners. There seem to be more females in this version. The tone is still the same but I guess the video has become a bit more visual. It’s still a dope song. For those wondering the title, John is referring to John Lennon. As the original I’m not a Star and the chorus in this song go, “if I die tonight remember me like John Lennon.” Thus the title. I guess it could have few other meanings but I don’t feel like delving into details that badly. Enjoy the video folks!

Red Nation

by on May.12, 2011, under Entertainment, Headlines

Game’s R.E.D. album is without a doubt one of the most anticipated hip hop releases this year. Some polls have put the album right next to Dr. Dre’s Detox, which again has been a work in progress for the past decade. The R.E.D. album has also been in works for a good while being almost released already back in 2010 until Game decided to shelf the album as it did not meet his standards. Fortunately the push for the album is on again and Game recently released the first single for the album aptly titled Red Nation. The song sampling Kernkraft 400′s Zombie Nation from way back also features Lil Wayne who lays hooks to the track. To add to al lthe drama around the R.E.D. album, the video for the song was supposedly banned by both MTV and BET thus only released online. Having seen the video I don’t really think it had any material making it unworthy of MTV air time. I have seen many videos much more graphic than this one. I guess it’s all about the video promoting gang affiliation. But isn’t that pretty much the focus of most of Game’s songs? One Blood anyone? Check out the video yourself after the jump.

Jack Sparrow

by on May.10, 2011, under Entertainment, Headlines

Right, so by now we know that the Lonely Island does pretty funny/good songs like I’m on a boat and I just had sex. Well this time they teamed up with a musical legend Michael Bolton for something that was supposed to be a club anthem I suppose, until Michael seemingly influenced by the Pirates of the Caribbean marathon had to put his twist to the song. Keywords; hilarious, winning and tiger blood. The WTF moment of the day first thing in the morning.

Doggumentary

by on Apr.21, 2011, under Entertainment

I am just at work, working. ,-) and was browsing the web for some minutes and came across this little video by Snoop Dogg which I want to share with you.
according to Hypetrak.com this is what to expect:
“Snoop Dogg unleashes the next visual off his current Doggumentary and this one’s a true meeting of legends as the Doggfather teams up with folk icon Willie Nelson for “Superman.” It sure is no coincidence that this clip arrives on 4/20. This video features on stage footage, along with the duo goofing off in the studio. The clip’s highligh is probably Snoop Dogg’s attempt to sing instead of rap. Enjoy!”

Enjoy the eastern holiday and take care!

John

by on Apr.21, 2011, under Entertainment, Headlines

After a busy day in Singapore (just got back around 1am) there’s no better way to start a day that by listening to a dope song and watching a video for this dope song. Actually the video mixed with the song almost made me crap myself. I mean just few lines from Lil’ Wayne’s John featuring Rick Ross. “Shoes on the coupe, bitch I got a Nike shox.” “Counts the profits you could bring ‘em in a Nike box. Grinding in my Jordans kick em off they might high, swish!” “I’m swimming in the yellow bitch, boss. In the red 911 looking devilish.” The song is actually a cover of Ross’ I’m Not a Star from his Teflon Don album. The song uses the hook from the original featuring lines such as, “If I die today, remember me like John Lennon. Buried in Louis, I’m talking all brown linen.” I do like this song and it somewhat sets expectations for the upcoming Tha Carter IV. I mean why on earth is Rick Ross sitting on a wheel chair in the video? Click the picture to view the video, could not locate embed for the time being.
