Nike Air Force 1 Downtown – Iron Man
by Taavi Kuisma on Feb.27, 2013, under Headlines, Kicks
It’s been a while since I posted up anything on the sneaker front. Time to change that. A friend of mine (shout out to Aleksi) brought this particular pair to my attention. A pair of sneakers any Marvel fan, especially fans of Tony Stark aka the Iron Man would pay attention to. A pair that is definitely inspired by the red and gold clad armored avenger. Though the design is rather flashy, I would not mind owning a pair. If I ever happen to find a pair in my size.

Nike Lunar Force 1
by Taavi Kuisma on Nov.03, 2012, under Headlines, Kicks
I love my sneakers as much as the next guy (maybe even more) and I have had my fair share of Air Force 1s which happen to be among my favorite Nikes. Now Nike has been pushing the boundaries of sneaker culture for decades and their latest innovation touches upon that particular design that I like, the Air Force 1. The Lunar Force 1 is what some might refer to as evolution or even revolution of sneaker-wear. As Hypebeast aptly put it, it is “an innovative remake that stays true to the unique heritage of the Air Force 1, yet catapults it into a new era of relevance, the shoe was redesigned from the inside out and from the ground up.” Something that some could refer to as sacriligious changes include the change of misdole’s heel Air unit with Lunarlon foam and heel Zoom Air unit. The shoes has become lighter, not just by its looks but actually lighter. Perhaps it’s just the way Nike pushes these sneakers but this particular shoe has gotten my attention.
Game On, World

I believe the world just needs more fun and games. Nike seems to think the same way and decided to gamify the world through Nike+. Pretty awesome ad. Well played Nike. No pun intended.

by Taavi Kuisma on Jun.11, 2012, under Headlines, Kicks, Social Media & Advertising
So, the world went crazy over the Nike Air Yeezy II sneakers released yesterday. I could argue that the release matches if not tops the Nike Mag (Back to the Future Marty McFly) release from last year. The shoe was released in selected stores worldwide as well as few online outlets offering a raffle for one’s chance to win a pair. A raffle was pretty much the only way for the stores to keep control over the insane masses queuing, and camping in front of Nike retailers for up to weeks. Yes, plural. I personally wished to land a pair of the kicks but as the shoes were seemingly not released at my neck of the woods an online raffle was an only choice, but nnah… not with my luck. Nike did make the shoes available through NikeStore, and as a result their servers, site and pretty much everythign else was jammed for hours with everyone reloading the site every other second to make sure they are there when the shoe becomes available online. The online purchase was made available for US citizens only but that does not stop international buyers from checking the site out. People were pretty vocal about their frustration, anticipation and Nike’s website issues resulting in few rather humorous Twitter updates.
Nike Air Yeezy II Store Listing
by Taavi Kuisma on Jun.08, 2012, under Headlines, Kicks
We are just days away from the launch of coveted Air Yeezy sneakers. While I am still trying to figure out where to get a pair since neither Malaysia or Finland are on the list of countries stocking the shoe, Freshness Mag have put up a list of global retailers selling the shoe from 9th of June onwards. Due to the massive demand and naturally limited stock, some stores are limiting the availability to a game of chance. No point of queuing, you go to the store, get a raffles ticket and if you win, you can buy the shoes. That’s how on-demand the shoes are. Well done Kanye, you’ve created quite a hype. So folks, who could help me get a pair?
Check out the full list of stores and more details from Freshness.

Air Yeezy II Unleashed
by Taavi Kuisma on May.31, 2012, under Headlines, Kicks
Yesterday Nike officiated the release of the anticipated Air Yeezy II sneakers and made the sneaker world go a bit more crazy than during your average shoe release. The shoe is stated to hit the stores on June 9th and is taking design inspiration from the 80′s, combines this with Nike Air Tech Challenge II technology and throws luxury fabrication to the mix to make the shoe not just functional but exceptional. The shoe is going to be available in two color ways Black/Solar-Red and Platinum. The pricing of the shoe remains to be confirmed but it would seem the shoe will be priced between 200-300 euros. Even with the slightly higher price point, the shoe will most likely sell out in a matter of day(s). Well done Kanye.

The sinking feeling. The moment when you realize you just screwed up and now need to put your game face on in a matter of seconds to amend the situation. Familiar circumstances to anyone with sports background but most likely familiar to pretty much anyone as we all tend to screw up something every now and then. Nike visualized this feeling pretty well in their latest Air Jordan ad. Although the video is obviously about the flight, I paid more attention to the sinking feeling. Cool ad nonetheless.
Basketball never stops

It’s been a rather quiet season in the NBA. The NBA lockdown is still rampant and it seems we won’t be seeing 2011-2012 season. Could they even have an all-star game or something? Although we’re not seeing NBA action, basketball is not stopping as Nike puts it in their latest campaign featuring Keving Durant. In the latest video from Nike Basketball, Kevin Durant takes to the Oklahoma City streets to show that Basketball Never Stops for any of us.
Makes me feel like going out and shoot some hoops. Damn…
