The view is nice though and there are some boats on the background though. Nevertheless, for this month our site is represented by this awe-inspiring look. The picture also includes a hidden gem. Can you guess it?

Well the story is, the gentleman in the picture is actually carrying another epic person, just that this young gun is hidden behind the father figure. That’s right Maxwell is in the picture, just hiding behind his father. Wouldn’t guess just by looking at the picture huh? Go and check out the site and of course all the goods stocked on the site. That leads us to the next step, NDH expanding the business to South-East Asia. Although we have not yet established an office here, we have lots of friends and denim enthusiasts in the region and we want to be able to serve these customers on the local level same way as we did with our customers in Europe. Starting from April, Nordic Denim House will also be the South-East Asian representative for Momotaro Jeans (excluding Thailand). South-East Asia is still a new market for us and Momotaro Jeans, but we have come across nice stores that I’m sure would do well with Momotaro Jeans. So if your business is interested in carrying Momotaro Jeans feel free to contact us. As always it’s business as usual and our Finnish office handles things the same way as it always does. I myself and Jeci Chao reply to your emails and messages the same way as always.

It’s all good and we are very grateful and happy about the love we have received from everyone around the globe. This is another leg on our journey and I believe this will not just be one of the most challenging steps but also one of the most fascinating. Still as always we take it easy and just have fun. Like Rick Ross put it on his song Mafia Music, “I came up with a strategy to come up mathematically.”

As much as I love our blog and how it has grown along the years, it has come time to do something about it. The blog is heavy on content and all black background can be heavy on the eyes, so we decided to lighten the mood a bit. Our articles are the key “ingredient” on the blog and thus we want to put more emphasis on these articles by moving some things such as the Soap Box on its own department. The experimental chat box has gotten good reception and thus I want to stick with it, maybe even upgrade it to get rid of the ads in the bottom. But to make sure the emphasis is on the text, it has been moved to its own Soap Box department.

I have also adjusted the look and feel of the site and although the structure remains the same, the site is lighter and more in sync with the Nordic Denim House Online Store and Project Wear and Tear. All of these units are individuals and although I personally don’t want al lof them to look alike, there should be some similarities. One thing we got feedback on was the difficult location of the search box. Thus I have lifted this on the right hand side where it’s more visible for all those wanting to search for particular stuff on the site.

There will be further fine tuning and editing done on the site but we’ll stick to the current visual for a while. You know, just to get used to all that white space.

We’ve met a lot of great people and made a lot of new friends all over the world. We’ve been to Copenhagen Fashion Week not once but twice with our friends from Momotaro Jeans. We’ve brought in new brands and grown our relationship with our existing brands/friends. Without you we would not be running our business the way we do, so thank you for your support.

I think the entire year 2010 can be summarized in one word, Maxwell. My baby boy was born exactly two months ago and by now he has grown to become quite a charmer. The entire year has more or less revolved around this yong man and as my friend said about him, “2011 is going to be lil’ Maxwell’s year. Young and radical, his methods are mathematical!” Couldn’t have said it any better. So thanks for this Asko. I guess the boy’s learning the biz from the very start having represented NDH in not one but two fashion fairs already. Still no matter what path he chooses, he has our support. This Little Tiger (Siew Fu as we call him) reminds us and hopefully everyone else on what it’s all really about. Family, family and family. Family goes first and when this is taken care of, everything else works out fine.

We have huge plans for the year 2011 and being the party pooper I am, I will not reveal those yet. We have however grown in numbers with our blog getting new writers. A special thanks to Tuomas, Tim, Naja, Julia and Michael. People like your writing, so hopefully we’ll see your writings next year as well.

Last but definitely not least, a huge thank you to all of our customers, friends, readers and subscribers. I prefer to call you all as friends, hope you don’t mind. We have gotten so much positive feedback, that this alone is enough to make me spend long nights working on the business. Although it’s the money that keeps the business alive, for us this is secondary. We just love what we do and we keep doing it the best we can.

So although this year was great, we’ll make next one even better.

It’s Friday, an awesome day. Can’t you tell?

I have many plans for the site, blog and the business  altogether and although I would love to make all of these changes at once it’s better to move ahead at a steady pace. We’ve learned how to walk, so now it’s time to learn how to run. Changes in our personal lives and in the global consumer behavior force one to adapt into the situations handed to you, but adaptation should be done gracefully (Swan Dive) without sacrificing the essence of your operations, no matter what that may be.

I have candidly posted on the Soap Box that we need more writers/bloggers and I thought of making it official here. The search has begun and if you are reading this, find that your ideas would fit the blog or maybe you want to express yourself in a written form, please send an email to taavi.kuisma@nordicdenimhouse.com and I would love to hear from you. I guess once we have put enough thought to it, we will post/publish an official call for new talents worldwide. But if you are interested or know someone who might be, do drop us a line. We write about everything there is to that fantastic journey that is life itself. And although we write about fiction too, sometimes reality is just so much more fascinating than any story you might have come across.

It’s all about the stories behind the brands, people, ideas and everything in between. The world is ours for the taking, but just like most of the things in life, it’s much more fun to share the experience instead of keeping it all to yourself. This is just the beginning. I’d like to start the post with a quote from Karl Lagerfeld (I think) which I kind of like, ‎”I only go to places if I have a professional reason. I’m not a tourist.” I myself am very much like this, I go somewhere when it makes sense. I have seen the world and brought along bits and pieces from each journey. There are no random moves, nor random trips on my journey. I’m a man, husband, father, son, businessman, entrepreneur, writer and a student of life. I strive to conquer the world and enjoy carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders. No matter what’s the goal you’re working for, don’t forget that life is about learning.

No matter how much you hate sitting on the school bench the learning never stops. You need to learn from your mistakes and along these 300 posts, we have made mistakes, hey we too are human. But none of these mistakes have been done on the expense of you, our readers, friends, customers, partners and family. See we put you first.

I don’t need 300 soldiers to keep writing and doing what I do, all I need is my crew, the inspiration absorbed from this crazy journey and of course the gratitude from the happy readers, fans and customers. 300 blog posts is just 3 steps, a first lap of the race we’re learning how to run now. They say sometimes you need to learn how to run before you learn how to walk. I’m modest and I say we’ve just learned how to stand on our own two feet. Walking comes next following which we will start running.

We will expand, do more things, and write about new things. We will go to new places and expand the business the way we see fit. We hope to involve you more in our doings and as always value your feedback and comments. Our texts will evolve like Pokémon and I’m sure we’re soon stepping on the second stage of evolution sharing more and more interesting articles, ideas and opinions with you all.

Without further ado I present to you the Spring 2010 look of the NordicDenimHouse.com.

There’s a little retro element to it as the picture was taken in the same location as the image we used one year ago.

Actually the plan was to replicate the last year’s one with the same gear, same spot and same idea but in the end we thought that we need something fresh for The Year Of the Tiger. The “pop your collar” picture features shirts from KIKS TYO and Vintage Label 0901 Momotaro Jeans. We’re planning to bring more pictures on the site to the respective segments and below just few of the on set pictures taken that sunny Saturday.

Yesterday remy mentioned the untimely and unfortunate passing of Keith Elam aka Guru, a true originator in the Hip Hop circles. The founding member of Gangstarr and Jazzmatazz a fusion of Jazz and gangster rap. I have been a big fan of Gangstarr and Guru for a long time and such news always surprise and sadden a fan. Nevertheless we continue to celebrate the career of an artist like Guru through his music, which never gets old. So anothr video for the road. God Speed Guru, you will be missed.
