The Saturday’s started off soggy, weather-wise that is. It was awesome to observe the snow-fall for the past few days, but alas then came the warm air and now the snow is on it’s way off. Well to be honest we still have some snow, but it’s only the beginning of November so I suppose we’ll have to wait little bit longer for the real winter. But it’s all good, much love to the seasonal changes, heh.

This Saturday I wanted to drop another Kicks Edition. In the last Kicks Edition, I realised it was all about Nike, so this time I tried not to focus too much on the Nikes. So I will start off with the Nikes and then work my way to other kicks, haha.

Starting off with the on-going comeback of Reebok Pumps. I remember just 4 years back I was checking new kicks for myself and came across a pair of Pumps at a sneaker-store in Malaysia. I mean ever since there have been number of Pumps releases from Reebok in the past few years. This year is no exception, actually this marks the 20th anniversary of the Reebok Pumps and thus there have been fresh releases celebrating the “revolution” in the world of sneakers. The throwback look is the key with a recent Reebok Pump Bringback x 24 KILATES collabo below.

KILATES is not the only collaboration in the horizon, as Sydney’s very own Espionage has also collaborated in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Reebok Pump. This particular release is rather limited with only 31 pairs produced.

The ah so compulsory Nike portion of the Kicks Edition. Seriously there will be an issue with no Nikes, just not yet. This week I’m calling out another collaboration between Nike Sportswear, producer DJ Clark Kent and Undefeated’s founder Eddie Cruz.

Fresh introduction in their Rivalry Collection is the Un-Gucci Dunk that has definitely been influenced by the 2006 Team Manager Gucci High Dunk SB. Still it’s not the same as you can see. The Un-Gucci features, black ostrich leather and red croc skin swoosh as well as sticky rubber sole. Not a bad sneaker, not at all. And should go well with your Gucci belt, heh.

Lastly just brought out something different to mix the pack. Swedish Gram has brought out an Xbox collaboration in celebration of the release of Forza Motorsport 3. These hand painted shoes are available on eBay and the funds go to charity. Just a few words of the brand. According to the brand’s bio adopted from their website, “Gram was founded in Stockholm, april 2005 by Alexis Holm and Anna Stenvi. The companys primary goal is to design and produce a range of unique shoes, that reflect the present, yet rely on the past.” The shoe is not as abstract as the Playstation sneakers from Nike, but hey the funds go to good cause (I hope, heh).

Saturday’s like my favorite day of the week. I mean growing up as a young whippersnapper Saturdays meant few things; no school, Saturday morning cartoons, more time to spend with friends and fam of course. For sure there are and were like a dozen other reasons why Saturday’s rock but yeah, I just love em.

This Saturday has been all good, I mean it’s about 8 pm right now, had some work to do but also got some (at least in my opinions) well deserved rest. But I’m like an ant (Ant Man, heh), so I keep working. Make the best of the time at hand, and make those hours count.

It’s been way too long since I posted the last kicks edition. Well this I am planning to fix right now. With a Saturday’s kicks edition, almost as good as the Saturday morning cartoons, heh.

First off, Nike’s new Air Max LeBron VII China Edition. Chinese New Year is just behind the corner and we’re just past the Mid Autumn festivities, so the shoe fits right in with its mooncake like stamps and well rather China influenced outlook.

The shoe comes as a follow up to the More than a game world tour. The shoe is dedication to the tour’s visit to three main cities in China. The Chinese elements are not just limited to the mooncake design but has for instance  LeBron James’ name in Chinese all over it, it goes little something like this “勒布朗 詹姆斯” (pardon my Chinese).

Next off, Nike Zoom Kobe IV – Four Rings.

The NBA season is gonna kickstart shortly and powerhouses like Nike are getting some well fitted products out in celebration of new season full of B-Ball action. Being a Lakers fan (not hiding it) the Four Rings shoe got my attention as soon as I laid my eyes on it. Kobe had a great season and got his fourth championship ring (thus the Four Rings) and being the NBA finals MVP just to name few achievements. I mean the shoe looks fresh, it should look fresh even in the eyes of non-Laker-fans.

Not necessarily the best shoe for the season here in Finland, but maybe something to cop for the next summer. And hey, if you’re staying somewhere with one season only or enjoying the summer right now, this shoe will definitely look fresh no matter the outfit. White Full Canvas Air Force 1 inspired by Nike’s Classic tennis shoes. I love the shoe, but just wonder how would the shoe look after two days in the rainy/soggy weather out there, heh.

Last but not least, the Halloween’s just behind the corner and many brands are bringing out special Halloween kicks. Among the funniest has to be Nike’s “Savage Beast” Air Force 1 Low Quickstrike.

The shoe rocks a pony hair upper, that nicely fits title savage beast. This isn’t the first pony hair shoe out this season though. New Balance recently brought out their pony hair sneakers for the Autumn 09. Definitely not something for everybody, but I guess these are somewhat collector’s items anyway, heh.

Haha, now only I realized that it’s mainly about Nike once again. Nike’s doing their thing no doubt, or maybe other brands are just not loud enough with their recent releases, haha. I promise you though, next kicks edition will be a non-Nike edition, for real.

Saturdays are the good days. My personal favorite day of the week.

This was supposed to become a Friday’s kicks edition, but alas I faced some issues with the local ISP and thus had to postpone the posting until this morning. But hey, Saturday is as good day as any for another kicks edition.

Plenty of great kicks/ kicks news out this week. Kicks galore I could almost say. You know, there are so many new shoes out every day of the week, that I prefer to pick my personal favorites and post some of them (hopefully) on a weekly basis. Funny enough, this weeks all of my picks are from Nike. Maybe Nike is rallying their fall/winter collections and thus they’ve got the spotlight.

So starting off with a twist of past meets present and a bit of future. Not full of all the metallic accents we see so often today, but instead royal blue foamposite. The Nike Blazer Foamposite. Inspired by the original foamposite brought to the courts by Penny Hardaway. The swoosh has nice jet blac shine and brings contrast to the blue upper.

Another Nike highlighted this week is the Zoom Janoski launcehd in celebration of Gardener 10 Tenth by Michael Lau Exhibition.

Michael Lau, a pioneer in the vinyl toy movement works with a primary medium of 12″ figures for the Gardeners. The figures are inspired by his friends as well as famous individuals worldwide. The new line of Nike SB’s is inspired by the theme of Lau’s exhibition and features wood pattern. The shoe is naturally available in extremely limited numbers and the exhibition runs from September 30th until October 3rd in De La Barracuda in LA. For more info you can visit Mindstyle.com.

UK rapper Dizzee Rascal has collaborated with Nike in a Nike Air Max 90 aptly titled Tongue N’ Cheek. According to Dizzee the shoe is, “Stylish but simple. The Air Max 90 is pretty much the street shoe, ‘innit? It’s quite sporty, but when you get the right colours you can wear it with anything. But with this one we tried to keep it quite plain so it could complete any outfit. It’s functional and there was a pretty deep design process involved”. The shoe carries itself with premium grade soft leather and high knap suede with graphics in-line with the shoe’s title with pink tongue and the letter U in a form of a tongue.

Last pick of the week, and probably the most detailed as well as futuristic kicks are the Nike x Playstation Air Trainer 1, shoe featuring multiple graphic elements on a black base. The shoes are truly extreme also in availability. The shoe will never be released for the public and there are only 24 pairs, making the shoe a holy grail of many sneaker lovers. Most of the shoes will go to charity auctions.
