Slam Dunk and Premium Denim

by on Apr.22, 2011, under Headlines, Kicks

As the title indicates today we’ll be talking about Slam Dunk, the Manga and Anime that at least I was watching back in the day on pretty much daily basis. Cool story (about basketball, friendship and all that) great characters and of course Takehiko Inoue’s signature comic style ensured the series a huge following worldwide. Nike has teamed up with Inoue for a limited edition sneaker that at least caught my attention, the Takehiko Inoue x Slam Dunk x Nike Air Zoom Brave IV.

Sneaker Birthday Cake

by on Apr.18, 2011, under Headlines, Kicks, Travel, Food & Drinks

It’s nothing new that sneaker enthusiasts might like a birthday cake designed after their favorite shoe. We have seen the same done with gadgets and other items alike. But it’s this particular sneaker birthday cake that actually caught my attention. Why? Because it’s Adidas Kobe, the shoe I wore back in the beginning of 2000′s. A shoe which I liked very much, although it was definitely flawed. The major issue was the breaking lace loops. I had like 3 different pairs of this shoe and all of them broke the same way. Still although it looked like something from a Sci-Fi movie (inspired by Audi TT) the shoe was good for me. And the cake doesn’t look bad either.

Cool kicks and a gas mask

by on Apr.17, 2011, under Comics, Design and Artwork, Headlines, Kicks

Right so when you cop a pair of new Jordans, the first thing is either to put them next to the other cool sneakers on your shelf or put them on and just enjoy the feeling of new shoes. Nothing like the new shoe smell by the way. Only topped by the new car smell I suppose. But for some, they have more sinister plans for the shoes, or perhaps I should say artistic ones. Artist Freehand Profit sure had other plans for a pair of Air Jordans when he created this custom gas mask.

Cheech and Chong

by on Apr.15, 2011, under Headlines, Kicks

Something cool I came across yesterday. A cool pair of kicks inspired by a “cult movie” of sorts. If you’re not familiar with these two fellas, it’s best you start by watching a trailer for their 1978 flick “Up in Smoke.”

Seinfeld’s sneakers

by on Apr.06, 2011, under Entertainment, Headlines, Kicks

I watched Seinfeld pretty much the entire time it was playing in Finland back in the day. Funny series with funny people. One thing I never really paid that much attention to was how awesome Seinfeld’s sneaker game was. I remember he wore different kicks all the time, but Complex actually had put together a complete guide to Mr. Seinfeld’s kicks. I never realized he actually wore such a variety. Kudos to Jerry, a true Sneaker Head. Seriously cool stuff.

Louis Vuitton Acapulco Monogram Stars

by on Mar.31, 2011, under Headlines, Kicks

If it was April 1st I would have thought this is an April Fools joke. Although it could still be, a leaked one. Louis Vuitton is known for clean sneakers with nothing more than monotones or monogram details at most. The Louis Vuitton Acapulco Monogram Star sneakers are colorful, full of stars with a canvas upper unlike any other Louis Vuitton sneaker I have seen. The sneakers are scheduled to be released worldwide soon, but honestly I’m not a huge fan of this particular design. It’s like the designer tried to stuff all of his/her ideas into one shoe. I wonder who is LV trying to reach with this design? What do you think, is this a right approach for LV or just too much for one sneaker?

Dog Poop Insurance

by on Mar.03, 2011, under Headlines, Kicks, Social Media & Advertising

Ever stepped on a turd on the road ruining a fresh pair of kicks? I’m pretty sure most of us have and it’s no joke, dog poop really ruins a good pair of kicks. The poop and smell just stick there and no matter how much you wash, wipe, brush and clean the kicks, they just won’t be the same. Just imagine if this happened to a limited edition pair of kicks that actually pack a hefty price tag as well. The horror… Sneaker Freaker and their friends in Japan have come up with an interesting concept of insuring your kicks from dog poop.  Below video will demonstrate how this works. The video also features voting button so if the concept gets 100 000 votes, a Japanese insurance agency will make dog poop insurance reality. Random awesomeness!

Nike Cosplay

by on Feb.19, 2011, under Entertainment, Headlines, Kicks, Social Media & Advertising

Right, so I am not sure why I have never come across this before but I’m happy that I did now. Nike makes nice sneakers and we’ve seen quite a few ways of advertising their shoes but in Japan, they do everything different. I think I should not even spend time writing an explanation as this is something you should just see for yourself. Keywords, Akiba, cosplay, Nike, Power Rangers, madness…

Nike Zoom Kobe VI – The shoe

by on Feb.01, 2011, under Headlines, Kicks

We’ve seen trailers of the Black Mamba, a film by Robert Rodriguez. We’ve seen a clip about ophidiophobia but what about the shoe these clips promote? Sneakernews provided an insight into Nike Zoom Kove VI event held at Nike vault at the Staples Center, Los Angeles. The event did not just preview the trailer 2 for the Black Mamba feature film but also introduced a Kobe VI sneakers in different colorways. One of the sweetest styles presented is the Black, White and Varsity Red sneaker with the black and metallic “snake” upper representing the Black Mamba.
