What a day. First off shout out to our very own Jeci Chao, Happy Birthday! May Day’s ain’t got nothing on May 2nd. On that note Happy Golden Week National Holidays to all of our friends in Japan! We take it as if every day’s a celebration. Life’s good, especially when the sun’s shining and the weather is clear.

I promised some fit pics of the Copper Label project and since I’m a man of my word, here you go. I have to say, I love these jeans. They’ve adjusted perfectly in these 16 weeks of wear and tear. I have to say that the wash at 3 month benchmark did the jeans good. Well enough talk, and more pictures.

As I have mentioned in the past, slim fitting jeans just don’t fit me and my tall frame. The scarecrow on steroids reference still applies. But I find the Straight Leg Copper Label jeans slightly slimmer than the Straight Leg Vintage Label Momotaro Jeans. The difference is not that huge, but enough to notice it. Nevertheless, this is a fit that I love. Roomy, but not too baggy. Classic straight leg jeans.

There’s some major stacking going on at the back of the knees.

I want to save the detailed pics for the next post, but the jeans are evolving fast. Below just few nice details. There’s some twill breaking on both of the inseams near the cuffs. But the jeans are still as solid as ever.

This picture below shows the state of the color on the front (thighs) of the jeans. Loving the faded blue. Pictures don’t do justice to the color.

We pretty much spent the day at the city walking around and embracing the fine, warm weather. Just look at the blue skies. Damn.

The winter is but a distant memory and we’re getting ready to the summer. Expect to see plenty of more evolution of Copper Label Denim in the following weeks.

One of the things that caught my eye this week was the sneak preview to The Year Of… the Ox collection. The site looks interesting to say the least. And all I can say is that the designs look great as well. Will keep y’all posted on the topic and in the meanwhile you can check out theyearof.net for more about the brand and the products. Clean pair of deep indigo jeans never goes out of style, but this spring it seems to be more or less about distressed denim. I am in constant pursuit of getting my denim projects to show some wear and tear but this spring major labels are bringing in worn and torn looks to everyone’s viewing pleasure. I thought this particular trend has never disappeared ever since someone thought it was cool to wear a broken pair of pants or shirt but I guess they’re making it an official trend for the SS09 season.

This is visible in True Religion’s Rainbow Billy’s pre-cut knees. However there are examples of a certain trend going a bit wrong. Just have a look at the style RnB singer Brandy is rocking. No hating, styles are personal and this particular cutting sure stands out. You be the judge on whether this is or is not cool, heh.

Spring time has landed to Finland but I guess the warm weathers arrive with a delay this year.

If you were wondering why you can’t get on the site yesterday, we were doing slight visual updates for the spring season as well as slight content updates. But we’re back in business with full steam today.

There will be further updates on the site from time to time, but if we are talking about bigger ones like yesterday will let you know.

A quick update on Momotaro 0701 Slim Fit. I have received some inquiries on this particular model and style of jeans and we are glad to tell you that the style will be available in July in raw unwashed finishing. We are able to get sizes 32 and 34 in already before July, but if you want to know more on this design just drop us a note.

I have been quiet for few days now, but sometimes days go by at a speed of light. No doubt.

First off a little crossover to the music department. NDH with your’s truly was present at a Too $hort show in Virgin Oil, Helsinki on Sunday night. Though it might have been a bit tough getting out of bed on Monday morning it was all worth it. Real life Ol’ Skool legend threw hell of a performance. Life is indeed too short, make the best of it.

I guess I could start writing a review of the concert but don’t want to get too much off the tracks. Just take a look at the clip from the link below for one of Short Dog’s classic tracks. If you went to the show or have some more pictures of the show do drop a line.

Back to business, denim that is. Posted thing or two about Vintage denim, its qualities and production phases as well as a little something on the fading of the jeans and all this writing got me thinking of a master plan.

Take a pair of Vintage denim, wear it for six months or maybe a year on daily basis and let y’all know more about how the jeans adapt in your daily life. Now the thing is, I love variety and it’s nice to have different jeans for different occasions, so wearing one pair of jeans only for a long’ish time like 6 months is something I have not thought of until now. But hey, I still think it could be interesting to see in actuality how the jeans (personal vertical fade) look after a period of time such as 6 months to a year.

So after  I got the blueprint on the table I started thinking about what brand and what type of jeans should I put through the acid test. Definately a pair of Vintage Japanese Denim. So in the end it all came to a pair of Momotaro Vintage Label 0901 Classic Straight jeans, it does not get much more Vintage than that, heh.

In the picture you can see the crisp new pair of Japanese denim jeans with the raw indigo dye. But if you pay attention to the small patch of denim hanging along with the tag from the jeans you can see the color of the same denim after number of wears/washes.

The indigo color is very deep blue, almost black in color but after time gets a nice blue color not to forget the vertical fade.

As I mentioned the code of conduct would be to wear and tear the jeans daily and not washing them in the process as this will wash away the indigo. Well I was planning to do this, much to the dislike of my significant other but hey, when you want to do something, do it properly, heh.

Let’s see if I will post an article on the denim freezing at some point. Being that we’re in Finland I could just hang the jeans outside for the night and that’s pretty much the same as throwing them into a freezer. Let’s see how things develop the closer we get to summer.

So kickstarted the process today and will keep posting on the twists and turns of this journey along with the rest of the stuff as often as possible.
