LEGO – R2-D2
by Taavi Kuisma on Mar.18, 2012, under Headlines, Toys, Games and Gadgets
This 2,100 piece Ultimate Collector’s Series LEGO R2-D2 is something I in addition to many other Star Wars and LEGO aficionados probably consider a must have item. In my mind I am trying to find excuses to spend £150 on this beautiful LEGO droid. The attention to detail the designers have put to this particular model is somewhat crazy. Although I am pretty sure this droid will not get a “pass” at the purchase process in casa de Kuisma-Chao, I can still continue scheming on how to justify getting one of these. Perhaps Maxwell would like to help daddy build this? You know, it’s good for his creative skills and all. Video after the jump.
Star Wars Uncut

This is way too cool for school. No matter what’s the school. What do you get when you take hundreds, possibly thousands of Star Wars fans and give them a simple task of making a 15 second fan version Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope? Well what you get is Star Wars Uncut. A classic sci-fi film recreated entirely of 15 second fan films. The film is about 2 hours long so I won’t bore you with more words. This is just too great. Well done people.

Volkswagen Game Day

Another epic battle is brewing between two opposing forces. A battle like no other. Only weapons, brute strength and the oval pigskin. Superbowl is one of the biggest avenues not just in terms of sports but also advertising. Volkswagen made an impact with their ad last year and they seem to carry the Epic Battle theme to this year as well. I mean just have a look at their teaser. Canine chorus anyone?
Let’s see what they have in store for the Game Day.

Star Wars is everywhere, from Adidas kicks to collaborations with brands such as A Bathing Ape. BAPE recently released info and pics on a latest collab with the classic franchise. For a Star Wars fan this collab is just cool. I mean I liked most of the Adidas Originals collab pieces and the Star Wars x A Bathing Ape collab looks pretty promising. The tees/designs surfaced on the world wide web feature Baby Milo in place of classic Star Wars characters. According to Hypebeast, “The collection will release later this month on September 17 with further in-store events at BAPEXCLUSIVE Aoyama and BAPE STORE HARAJUKU.” Let’s see how this one turns out, my guess is, great.
More of Star Wars The Blueprints

While back I posted some visuals and details on a pretty impressive book titled Star Wars The Blueprints. In that post I forgot to include a cool trailer for the book, so here you go. Really interesting opus that doesn’t come cheap but I bet is all worth every dollar spent on it.
Star Wars The Blueprints

I wonder how much more stuff George Lucas has stashed, hidden somewhere from the public just waiting to emerge? The latest Star Wars goodie to activate the fans and collectors is the Star Wars The Blueprints book. This huge opus by J.W. Rinzler is collated from archives of all episodes of the Star Wars Saga. The Star Wars fan boy in me just go a bit excited. The book doesn’t only show how the galaxy far, far away was designed and created but features over 500 photos and illustrations from the saga. Imagine seeing the blueprints of Death Star, Droids, and Millenium Falcon. The visuals are backed up with commentary from the creators themselves as well as the author. Weighing in at 10 kg, this heavy weight is sure not going to leave anyone cold. Did I mention that only 5000 pieces exist each of which is hand numbered. Words aren’t enough to elaborate how cool this is. For more details and visuals visit theblueprintsbook.com.
Adidas Originals x Star Wars – F/W 2011
by Taavi Kuisma on Jul.03, 2011, under Fashion and style, Headlines
It’s been long enough since our last Star Wars related post so let’s get back to it with the F/W 2011 showcase of the Adidas Originals x Star Wars. This time around the series is preparing for the cooler times ahead with Empire Strikes Back inspired looks that draw inspiration from the icy planet Hoth. The product photography’s entertaining to say the least. Not sure hwy on earth is the Wampa cutting the lawn but it looks funny. Interesting enough this particular series is becoming a cult “product” although in the beginning (and even now) there are those who see the products as nerdy. Soon one can hang out at the Comic Con repping Star Wars and still looking stylish enough to stand out (in a good way). Visit Hypebeast for more pictures.
