Four more nights till Christmas Eve. Splendid! Few more days of work followed by a long weekend full of seasonal celebrations. Christmas is a season of sharing and giving, but also like someone from my family mentioned about receiving. It’s true, as nice as it is to give presents it’s also nice to get a few surprise gifts.

On that note, I am pleased to let you know we just received a batch of very, very special jeans. Of which I will share a few lines as well as photos. But let me tell you, photos do not do these jeans justice. I have seen a number of very nice jeans in my life, but these are something else.

These jeans from The Year Of… Dog -line of jeans feature a deep indigo dye making them look almost black. The denim is that rigid heavy oz denim the brand is known for but instead of the traditional gold and silver selvedge associated with the brand, these jeans feature a “rainbow selevdge”. That is the line in the selvedge has number of colors giving it a pretty nice look. The brand started off with this particular type of selvedge and only the later designs from 2006 have that gold/ silver selvedge.

The embroidery is very detailed and simply amazing. I took a good while to check the jeans in detail and although every pair from the brand is special these are probably my personal favorites.

The self proclaimed New York answer to Hello Kitty from 2006 is also featured in the leather patch. Below are few different alternatives of the patches from the Dog Years.

It was a mighty fine party last night. A pack of people getting together to celebrate our journey this far and more importantly getting together in celebration of the seasonal festivities. There are many types of Pre-Xmas parties or “pikkujoulu” as we call it in Finland, some good and some not so good. This one however was a night to remember and to relive next year. Plenty of mulled wine (glögg or glögi) as well as good food was consumed in good spirit and more importantly good company.

The day after the party was surprisingly pleasant. The first thing I realized when I woke up was that it had kept snowing since last night and we had a small white coating on the ground. Wonderful! Hopefully it will continue to snow for another week or two so that we can have a truly white Christmas.

We work our way towards Christmas through the typical year end rushing. But as said before we’re loving every minute of the process and events like the one last night help you to put everything into context and remind you of what it’s really all about, the people.

That said, thank you to everyone who showed up and let the next events be even better than this one, if that’s even possible. I’m out, peace.

Hope your week has started in a pleasant manner. I know mine did. I have to say, it’s been a while since I thought about Christmas and especially Christmas shopping. Well, of course I know it’s already a year since last Christmas, but it’s been years since I’ve been in Finland this time of the year and able to observe the Christmas preparations. The thing about Christmas is that a lot of people stress about the preparations, the presents and so on. I tend not to stress about these things and just go with the flow. I’ve seen my wife get all excited about this special Seasonal Holiday and it’s nice to observe how people each in their own way get ready for Xmas.

I have to admit, I have had very little time to think about what I even want to get for the family and friends not to mention myself. I am not sure, where does the line between a random gift and Christmas present go? I mean, I bought my wife a new winter coat, new pair of boots and some other “random items” not too long ago, but still it’s not even December yet. So in these cases when you say, I get it for you as a Christmas present, it actually means that you’ll get the jacket and then you will get me another gift for the Christmas, heh. But giving gifts should not be limited to Christmas time or birthdays only. Like they say, Christmas is about giving.

For myself I actually did get a little something for myself. As I mentioned I have the Art of Osamu Tezuka – The God of Manga book on my Christmas list. (Wink Wink, I know you’re reading this )

But in process of helping out a friend in need (so to speak), sourcing for few pieces of special tees I got myself a little something in the process. One of the cardinal rules or the ten crack commandments as Biggie put it is that never get high on your own supply. I think I first heard the saying in Scarface. Well I do follow that line pretty well though it’s not always easy with so much dope stuff around. End of the year has been busy for us also in the sense that while preparing for the next year with the existent brands, we are also bringing in few new brands. Not saying names yet, keep them guessing as they say. Below a teaser pic of what’s coming though.
