The World Cup in South Africa is going to kick off soon and with all the basketball related editions, I thought it would be fair to post a little something on the biggest event in the world of soccer.

The fashion world is reacting fast to this type of event. Premium watch company Hublot signed a big deal being the official time keeper of the games.

It’s obvious the big names like Adidas and Nike are working hard to bring their names up. The once in four years event is huge advertising opportunity to the labels. Plenty of collectibles are appearing on the sports stores’ shelves and the stuff is naturally limited edition since the 2010 World Cup in SOuth Africa is a once in a lifetime thing. The next games will only happen in four years.

Don’t forget, the whole world is watching the games. Below the official world cup commercials of the “biggest” sports houses in the world.

When talking about soccer we can’t forget Umbro, which has been a household name in the soccer scene for ages. I mean I was never too much into soccer but remember having a jersey and a ball by Umbro when growing up. Umbro has a pretty sexy campaign for their World Champions Collection, featuring the seven girls from the seven countries England, France, Germany, Italy, Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. Can’t hate. After all, sex sells.

It’s not just the jerseys that have started selling but the fashion labels are also reacting to the event. Take for instance limited edition releases from KIKS TYO. The below collaboration tee featuring lovely Yuki Hoashi holding the official world cup ball branded with the KIKS TYO logo. The shirt was limited to 100 pieces worldwide and you can now see “sold out” tab on KIKS’ website (no surprise there).

The other recent KIKS release is the World Cup Boks-Kun tee also featuring a world cup motif sans the girl.

I think that’s enough for our World Cup Edition. I’m sure we’re going to post more stuff as the games get started and I know we’ll be watching. I’ve been rooting for Japan and France since 1998 and still do so. You see, instead of picking just one team, I have too. More chances that my favorite’s going to win.

Hope you remembered to switch your clocks and watches to summer time. Daylight saving time is here once again. It feels as if it was yesterday when we just pushed the time back by an hour. The whole concept of DST is controversial and I can tell you I survived very well back in Malaysia and Singapore without ever thinking about it. But enough of DST, let’s talk about new KIKS TYO shirts.

I gave you a sneak peek while back and now it’s time to show what the newcomers are all about.

Unfortunately I missed the Method Man concert last night but it’s all good. I’m sure to catch the next concert. One of the reasons I really wanted to see the show is that Mr. Mef is one of my all time favorite rap artists and the first rapper I consciously listened to back in 1994. If you’re not familiar with Ticallian Stallion’s recordings, the clip below is a good start. I came to bring the pain hardcore from the brain…

One thing’s for sure, I am not feeling all too well. Remember when I mentioned that I felt much better already after some rest, well that was what we could refer to as calm before the storm. Damn, that’s all I can say. Three days of seasonal flu ain’t too precious. I’m down with a flu but definitely not down with the flu.

My biggest achievement in the past few days has been the finished Born Rich TVB series marathon at casa de Tony_Stark. Lucky I have had my lovely wife to accompany yours truly. The series was not half bad and I don’t even remember when was the last time I was watching Hong Kong drama series, haha. I guess last time was back in Singapore or Malaysia over a year ago.

Well enough of complains, back to business. Before my unfortunate encounter with the seasonal flu, we picked up few newcomers from our friends at KIKS TYO. I mentioned the name Yuki Hoashi just few days back and here she is in all her glory. The new limited edition Baby J’s and Terminator Tees featuring the lovely Ms. Hoashi. Lastly something new for the Spring Season. A 3/4 denim shirt. All you can get from the shirt at this point is a sneaky sneak peek. More will follow shortly.

As mentioned in the past, The Year Of… brand has expanded its market to the liqueur scene releasing an exclusive Sake limited to 120 bottles.  According to The Year Of… “this Daiginjo, was brewed by the superb water from the famous Ibuki Mountain, in Japan. Then to the sneak(er) preview mentioned on the headline. My pursuit of awesome kicks for the summer is still going on, but although I might have not found my sneakers just yet, that doesn’t mean I could not help you in your pursuit (should you be thinking of a pair of kicks for the summer).

I present to you: The Year Of… x K-Swiss Sneakers.

The Year Of… brand is known for their collaborations and this one is somewhat a classic. The shoes are as rare as it gets with a limited number released for the Hong Kong market. Needless to say just like the sake, these are made with precision and feature signature TYO details such as gold foil vine design on the side and “burned” The Year Of… stamp on the back. I would cop myself a pair of these in an instant but being the bog foot I am I can only have myself a pair as a collector’s piece. But then again my size 14 US feet are notoriously picky when it comes to shoes. The available sizes range from 40 to 44 (European sizes) at the moment.

In celebration of this day I thought of posting some sneaky sneak previews courtesy of KIKS TYO from their upcoming Summer 2010 line. What KIKS have released on their Twitter as well as Facebook page indicate that we’ll be seeing more of Yuu Tejima, Yuki Hoashi and Aya Kiguchi shortly.

I’m a Laker fan, but this Suns shot ain’t half bad. All I can ask from the guys at KIKS is that, where’s Lakers at?

I mean take a look at this. Matt Barnes fakes the ball at Kobe’s face and he doesn’t even flinch, haha. I couldn’t help myself. Go Lakers!

It’s a new year and new year means new products. Last time I introduced our new brands QUOLOMO and erect81, but this week I get back to our old friend KIKS TYO and more precisely the new KIKS girl for the Spring 2010, Yuki Hoashi.  Just when you got the first glimpse of the upcoming shirts featuring Yuu Tejima we bring you the fresh face of the Sneaker Girl series and I can tell she fits the league of Yuko Ishida and Aki Hoshino very well.

The new shirts for the month of February include Baby J’s with Yuki holding a bunch of Baby Jordans in her arms.  No further description required, let picture explain the rest.

The other newcomer is is titled Terminator and this time the lovely Ms. Hoashi is posing with a pair of Terminators. As the title says, the shirt is inspired by the Terminator movies as well as the series Sarah Connor Chronicles. The movies ain’t got nothing on this. Lovely.

Let this serve as a sneak preview for what to expect in the not so distant future. Personally I can’t wait to get these shirts. KIKS are keeping it fresh and we do our best to do the same. To be frank, it’s not too hard as the weather has been rather chilly for about a week already. I’ll continue on that note with this week’s Copper G003-MB edition.
